Like Ella Henderson singing her revisioning of Cher's--"Do You Believe in Life After Love.." On BGT, Simon said the same to her...that her version & performance made him love a song that he'd always hated.## Yes, it's good you mentioned Angelina's gift in this regard as it's so true; she is incredible.

As you said, "music is a vast field". It is a joy to watch Angelina wander throughout the field, picking the occasional flower to add to her crown. Such a privilege for us. Other things also amaze me. 1) "You wanna hear the story?". So unassuming, and she doesn't even mention that the shoes she gave away she had described in another interview as "my favourite sea-green ankle boots". 2) That diary she read from in another interview, the entry was both childlike enough to be credibly from a very bright 6 year old, yet wise and insightful enough to be from an adult Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Everyone tells the story of how Angelina came about performing barefoot. After all these years this is the first I've heard the story directly from her. In fact this Interview is the first time hearing teen Angelina speak substantially about herself. My take away? She confirmed my suspicions that she is indeed well adjusted, sincerely humble, and a sweet, sweet, young lady. Thanks Once again for another terrific vid. And may this holy season bring us more Easter eggs from you sir.

Thank you Nate. I do not usually comment that often on these reactions, but as many other mostly silent fans of hers I can say I really enjoy the time you and some other reactors take to appreciate Angelina for her personality, her loving and caring nature, her compassionate and divine consciousness, as well as her amazing singing talents and expressive and emotive performances. Her commitment to 'singing for the whole world', and not necessarily to be 'the best' or most famous singer, but to make people sing, laugh, cry with joy and consolation to get us through more difficult moments in life, truly is a very difficult and deep commitment and a very high level of responsibility. That is what I feel '7th Heaven' song is about. The '7th Heaven' of happiness, or highest Bliss which one can also define as the highest level of Divine Consciousness, where God and the Angels dwell, if one wants to use that spiritual analogy, this commitment is quite 'big', and can 'fall heavy on the shoulders'. It is as if she sometimes feels she is shouldering this very 'heavy' commitment and responsibility through her dedication to her music and performances, not to speak of all the practice and work it takes to do this on the outer plane and on an emotional level as well. At this young age it is quite uplifting and empowering to see such a pure soul effect so many of us older people along with the younger generations as well, in such a powerful and positive way. For her to be able to empathize with people's experiences of bitterness, sadness, and self-doubt, and then to offer a sense of hope and not giving up, truly reflects her deep commitment to her highest goals expressed through her own original poetic lyrics and vocal splendor. This can only be the work of a true Angelic soul who has come to earth solely for this divinely inspired mission. We are all here to experience the real joy, love, and hope that life on earth has to offer to human beings, even as we go through some of the hardships of real life. To be as selfless and dedicated as Angelina, and other people we may know in other walks of life as well, is an awe-inspiring experience for the rest of us who are learning by their examples, no matter how old we get or how young they are. The younger generation has so much to offer to us 'mature adults' and we should appreciate, respect and thank them at every moment for the light and love they bring to us in such beautiful ways as Angelina Jordan does so artistically and self-givingly. I am glad you inspired me to express this here and hope I did not bore anyone with so many words to describe how special Angelina truly is as a deeply spiritual person and not just as a wonderfully talented singer. Thank you for reading this if you got this far into my verbose way of expressing myself.

What can I tell you, Nate! I thoroughly enjoyed both parts of your "things you love about AJ"! One thing I told another reactor when talking about her "old soul" is that, to me, Angelina draws the emotion she pours into her songs from "universal love". Not romantic. She KNOWS what true love is and what it is to lose it. That's a fundamental reason why people cry or get really emotional when listening to her. Maybe now thousand hundreds of people around the world appreciates her music (possibly more) and a fewer number knows the most of the story of Angelina Jordan. Some day, when she becomes a legend -because she will- the world will know about this little girl who had a dream of singing to the world about love, understanding, caring and empathy. Let's all play a role with helping her achieve that dream 💖 Share her songs, her channels, all her social media links so more people get to know the legend that is Angelina Jordan.

Hi Nate, I love your reaction videos and this two part is exactly how I feel about Angelina. I think the world will be a better place when people start to take inspiration from what Angelina sings about, whilst appreciating her epic singing talent! I feel saddened at how the majority of ‘Artists’ become role models to the young and bash out lewd and harmful excuses for songs. Cardi-B, recently in the news, was declaring her ambition was to be a billionaire, inspired by the monetary success of Rhianna. What a sad contrast to humble Angelina and mind-boggling, considering these ‘Artists’ dominate the charts around the world.

Thank you for sharing that Nate, it was a delight. As far as reactions go, it was a grand slam home run. Loved it! Of course I agree with all of it. I'd add a couple of other things about this young lady that have always impressed me. The first is her self-confidence. Since she was a toddler she has taken on the most difficult songs, like tackling Gloomy Sunday in front of judges and a TV audience at age 7! Who would dare to do that? And never the slightest hint of doubt or self-consciousness. This is a trait that I think is kind of disguised by how sweet and humble she is. But it's all part of the package. The other thing I always think about her, and it's related to ll the others, and that is I believe she has a channel to a very deep state of bliss "7th Heaven" that she transmits with her voice. And we all feel it.

Great job Nate! Two characteristics (maybe better to call them traits) of Angelina that I noticed are her focus and her fearlessness. You largely covered the first when you talked about her passion. As to the second, she appears across the years to largely be impervious to nerves, has never met a microphone/singing situation that she wasn't comfortable in front of. I knew she was a different breed when I saw the absolute calm in her eyes on the America's Got Talent stage in front of Simon and a huge American audience while completely re-imagining the most iconic song on the planet! While initially shocking, after seeing exactly the same countenance when she delivered Gloomy Sunday at 7yo, we now know that is just in her! Again, great job, Sir.

Exactly. Her “thumbs up” to the musicians before singing Gloomy Sunday at NGT, was a great example of that confidence. In the same way, her kind, but knowing comment about her familiarity with the microphone (to the sound technician) prior to her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody showed her unflappability too. 👍

Hey Nate. BELT ALERT: Angelina's new growth in belting power and consistency is on display in her new cover of Adele's "All I Ask". "Million Miles" showed promise, but they were short bursts and any commitment to yeah, she's done it couldn't be said. When she covered Whitney's "I Have Nothing" at the age of 12, Angelina's "under-development" was exposed. Well, I can safely say now, she has worked her butt off on this aspect of her repertoire and she's now ready to compete with the World's elite divas. Not that she had to prove anything to me, she had me at "I'll Be There". What this development tells me is that it shuts up those critics who once said she would amount to nothing more than coffee clutch background music. Such tomfoolery. Cheers!
@peterchristopherbanlon
@peterchristopherbanlon 3 жыл бұрын
BTW, Adele's original version of "All I Ask" is OUTSTANDING and to think anyone could compete against Adele in her prime with this song is crazy. Angelina Jordan not only crushed it, but she made it her own. That's not crazy, it's Angelina.

Nate, congratulations on your 2 Part presentation of your thoughts about Angelina. I'm sure it was a labor of love to put the whole thing together. You have the platform and you wanted very much to make sure that people who are not fully aware of who she is, to know things about her that need to be told. You did a masterful job and it was genuine and from your heart. Anything else would have been recognized and not a good thing, at all. Thanks again, Nate. We are all so fortunate to be in a position to appreciate Angelina and listen to her sing to us. Including her beautiful and positive inner self we have someone who inspires us to be better people, more caring and what we can do is support Angelina's efforts as they come to be and share our love with her. She draws energy off knowing we will always be beside her.

A few days ago I looked up "Gloomy Sunday" sung by Billie Holiday, (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYamqp16hNGhhrc) and my first reaction to her singing was "No, this must be wrong! This is 7yo Angelina Jordan!" - But after a while I noticed some differences and realized I was really listening to Billie Holiday. I believe the "secret" of this girl is her ability to perceive every little detail in other people's singing, and thus being able to copy them and in turn altering them according to her own purpose. Just like excellent painters study and internalize the technique of the old masters by copying until they have developed their own style and in turn become masters. Some reactors give warnings about covering certain songs or singers because they have heard so many attempts off standard. There are a few brave(!) people out there who make covers of Angelina's songs. And listening to them I can't help thinking: Angelina is one of these very-hard-to-match performers whom future coaches will warn their students from performing on stage. You mention her book "Mellom to hjerter" (Between two hearts) published when she was nine. It is a story of what seems to be the most overwhelming experience of her 6 year old life never to be forgotten. Reading the book in between listening to "7th heaven", I found so much in it corresponding to the lyrics of the song. Maybe it is a coincidence, maybe it is something dwelling deep inside her more or less concious peeping up, but if you use the book as a reference: The song starts with "Oh, you know a lot of bitterness". The book tells of a girl who has lost her parents, sitting on the wet, cold street, having given up her dreams of becoming a doctor. "The girl tells me that she has lost the hope. My heart which often talks to me, whispers: Tell her that she shall not be sad, and that she must not loose her hope. It will turn out good in the end." You cannot escape your bitterness, but if you will live, you must have hope! Don't give up! The reason for the girl loosing the hope of her future is the responsibility to her siblings. - And maybe it is stetching it too far, and there may be many other interpretations (which is what makes her songs and lyrics so deep), but I can't help reflecting: Can this be the "7th heaven" that falls heavy on the shoulders? The blessings and happiness of having a loving family which sometimes also can give you a feeling of conflict between the wishes to live for the loved ones and the loss of complete freedom to pursue your own ways? "The life with others' love is a heavy baggage. I want to be a star. A star can not shine without darkness. And I want to shine more and more" Thus reflecting the darkness you may find in this encouraging song? Where there is no darkness, you don't need anyone to lighten up the road! And is this connected to the 7th heaven? - Is Angelina taking the place of this girl when she is singing "all my dreams seems slowly fading", or do we speak of two related souls in a way melting into each other? "I will like to be her for a second. I am both a human and a child. I will like to share her life during a second to know how it is sitting alone, wet, damp and barefoot in a corner of the street " ... ... ... "She does not want to talk to anyone. But even if she maybe does not want to talk to me, I will like to try. As if there is a mirror just in front of me. I see myself in the mirror. The tears of the girl are flowing. It is like the world is frozen into ice, everything is cold and quiet just like a cold, grey winter. Everything has lost colour, that is how the girl looks like" As I interpreter this, Angelina is looking into the mirror, seeing herself as the girl, connecting to the girl. In "7th heaven" there is also a mirror. Is she looking at herself or at someone else? - wanting to love that person. Maybe both? And you may follow this line further and imagine Angelina talking to this girl when she is singing "Sometimes you ..."? - Or she may be talking to herself - or to both and everybody else being in need of encouragement? Probably the last. I do not try to deliver any answers. I just want to share my thoughts after having read a book about experiences going back more than half a lifetime (in Angelina's case), and I wonder: Is this the foundation upon which she is building her career? Is this orphan girl the sun that is giving her power? If so, what better foundation can be given than compassion, love and a purpose of shearing this with the world. And by doing that, giving the world hope? "I am standing on a cold floor and at the same time in heaven. I am standing between heaven and earth. I am standing between two hearts. I can not look into her eyes. No, I can not look into her eyes and continues talking to myself" ... ... ... "Of respect for you and all children like you and that you prayed to God, I am today walking barefoot on cold floors singing in front of so many people. This book is for you, little princess. You are like sunshine! I remember and remind me of you every day!" (from Angelina Jordan: "Mellom to hjerter", Oslo 2015, (my translation))

Angelina appears to have the ability to memorize, store, 'record', a song in her mind, then "play it back', recreate it, interpret it, with amazing fidelity to the original. With most of her covers you can hear her reproducing the essential sound and feel of the original while she adds her own tasteful embellishments.

Happy that you didnt fall into the myths : she knew playing 4instruments and read an write music and made arrangements at the age of 9 (all false) or she teached the pianist how to play that song (she jsut showed him the simple chords she used to play because she was (still is) not a good pianist ... and I am an absolute Angelina fan ! :-) What is the most strange for me is the difference between Angelina while singing (even very young, "wat a difference a day makes" for example) and when she dont (even between 2 verses) : she looks and sing like an adult while singing and the second after she become again the little girl she is ...

It’s hard to put into words how about Angelina Jordan Astar Being a prodigy or not lol! I have her other than magic sore or she’s a little bit with a nappy on her diaper and microphone bigger than her and I never stop watching her but I got to see her grow up in front of my eyes remarkable gift from heaven always think she her voice is divine because you’ve been touched by an angel!

Nate, so many fans find something in Angelina's voice that grabs their attention & often makes us cry for unknown reasons. I came across a video by the British Guitarist (Fil) of the Wings of Pegasus. He is talking about the voice of Patsy Cline, but everything he says pertains to Angelina. Please take a listen to this video where he talks about how she adds vocal fry at the end of notes that simulates the cry of a baby, which we are hardwired react to a crying baby. It also elicits crying in the listener. He goes into great detail & I think he's right. I would love to hear your take on it along with other "Angels." If you don't care about Patsy, you can skip to 4:30 in the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXXTgYZ9a9WjhKM

Nate, it seems that the music business can be viscous on the part of the corporate side and from jealous artists who want to see peers fail. Do you worry that Angelina will be attacked in any way? She seems strong and her family vigorously protects her. But will that be enough?

The video with her listening to the first take of Back to Black sounds fine to me but when they ask her what she thought about it, she just replied "Yuck"

Great video Nate I agree with you on certain songs she has covered, I would avoid, I'm not a fan of elvis so I never clicked on one of them, until I had heard all of her covers and only when I was starved of angelina's voice did I click on them, and I was astonished how she made them come alive! A song for A was one that I was intrigued with because I had heard it before on the 1973 film The Wicker Man. here is a link to that song, let me know what you think of it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpy1mn6bnJyHhsk&ab_channel=GiovanninoSenzaPaura

I hope that Angelina doesn't take the road that Grace Vanderwaal chose. In the beginning grace was a humble, lovely young lady. Now that she is older, she has decided to be a foulmouthed freak, and I believe her career will suffer.
