you can get perfectly good used cages from craigslist or facebook marketplace for about $100, even up to macaw size. pellets are $4 per lb in the US from the bins where they are the freshest and veggies are very cheap here too. dogs are much more expensive because they require real high quality meats at up to $7 per lb for ground sirloin. you can make toys your self for pennies. birds are not expensive if you check out the deals.

My Rainbow Lorikeet had metal toxicity from playing with jewelry, while he was being looked after by someone else for a while. He would continuously vomit and not be able to hold down any food. When I spoke to the vet he suggested to have Simon put down because he was unlikely to survive and if he did survive he would probably have neurological problems. I said that it didn't matter how disabled Simon was, I wanted him alive as long as he wasn't in pain. Simon made it and he is a very happy healthy boy again at home with me. Remember jewelry can be toxic too.

I have had parrots (sorry for the english spelling, I am danish), for 20 years since i was 9 years old, and I got the chance to save a blue forheaded amazon (think you know which parrot), due that nobody wanted it due to the fact that the left leg was twisted....at this time it was 10 years ago since i had a amazon and even though i could see that he would not be able to do what other parrots do (i was wrong), i took him a couple of days after he was born or else he would be killed. Me and my wife (she never had birds before) did everything, including feeding him with a surrence, but he would only eat from my mouth...and I remembered my teenage years with amazons and I let him do it. Yes i took birdfood into my mouth and then Elias could eat it. So 3 years later he is a part of our family, every morning he helps me making food, when i come home from work he says hello and goodnight when we put him to bed. He could sing the whole "mester jacob" song, and I have never experienced a parrot that could talk so much.. The mistake i made was that i loved him too much, and he was always on my shoulders, helping me with daily things. My wife became pregnant and on the first day with my newborn son, Elias flew over to his bed and attacked him. I thought this was just a one time coincidence, but no.. Since nobody wants a parrot with a clumb foot, after he attacked my newborn son 3 times i had to go to the vet. I did not bring a cage, he always stayed with me, and I cried and cried. ..The last thing Elias said to me was "jeg elsker dig ", and even though he did not know what it ment, it totally broke my heart. So the lesson is, please know that a parrot is a long life friend and some of them are very loyal.think before you buy one.. . If you love them they will love you back and you can not just give them away when this happens.. I really believe (yes it sounds dum) that a parrot can die from missing you.. .i am sorry for the spelling..

We had a Air fryer that was safe, but the ones we see not say "NON STICK CEERMIC" And i don't know what that means, is it still coated with some type of Teflon? Anyways I am so concerned because we had some birds a few years ago die from Teflon poisoning because we did not know our oven liner was coated with Teflon, it did not say anywhere on the Liner that it was Teflon.. It was horrible we lost 3 parakeets and 1 Green Cheek and i never want to go through that again...We always take the birds out of the kitchen when we cook and when the birds got poisoned they were upstairs in their cage in another room and they still died, we thought our house was TEFLON FREE but it was not because not everything is labeled... Anyways if anyone has a Air fryer that they KNOW THAT IS SAFE please send me the model name. They don't sale the air fryer that we are replacing anymore. Thanks,

If your bird doesn't chew on in it's ok but otherwise I would go with either a grid over the paper or you can use newspaper, paper towel, or even cardboard. I use butcher paper because it's relatively cheap and it comes in really big rolls.

@@mtb2625 it's whatever you have on the bottom of your bird cage to catch the poop, food and toy parts.

seems like it would be more expensive than just recycling old newspapers...? or even just regular paper towel.

What to use when deep cleaning or just cleaning your entire home including floors? Is bleach okay? The parrot store told me it was okay to use bleach, but it seem so strong. Should I avoid it???

What about using the oven for long periods of time? Like preparing a turkey for 6+ hours? Would that also be as dangerous as the self clean function?

I made 100% organic beeswax candles with 100%cotton wicks. Is this not safe? I did research online but I want to be sure.

Hello Jamie Leigh, Do your macaws ever bite you? if so then do you need to go to hospital and get stitches done? My African grey's bites used to really hurt so I imagine macaws can do some pretty bad damage if they are annoyed. This does put me off from getting a large parrot. Should I be scared of getting one?

Just a quick question, would smoke like from fire or non scented candles harmful?
@hanson5443 жыл бұрын
Literally anything that goes in the air, whether vaporized, misted, burnt, etc. Anything at all. Unsafe. If you have to ask, the answer is likely no. Combustion anything produced carbon monoxide. Birds die in forest fires en masse from smoke inhalation all the time.
