I'm glad you mentioned Bluetooth speakers. I had been wondering if they were supported - I use a projector and my speakers are across the room, so Bluetooth would be the only way to make that work (currently use a Mac Mini on the projector). That was one thing holding me back from purchasing an Apple TV and I don't think the guys at the Apple Store (a few months ago) knew whether Bluetooth speakers were supported.

Fantastic Review. All the questions I had that no one else was answering you just did!!!! Specifically the learning the IR functions for the soundbar. My setup would be apple tv to sound bar (Definitive W7 soundbar) via HDMI and soundbar to tv via hdmi. While the tv supports hdmi-cec I don't think my soundbar does meaning I'll have to manually turn the tv on and off etc. Please tell me i'm wrong and I just don't understand.

+Nathan Justus I would think you probably would have to turn the TV on. The only thing I can think maybe, is that my sound bar that I have, automatically wakes up when it detects an input even though it doesnt support HDMI-cec. So, maybe if the sound bar wakes up, the TV will get something from the sound bar as well. But no promises! And Im glad you liked the video! Fantastic to hear! Hope you subbed!

Hi Andrew. How does account switching work? Being as this is going to be central to the living room I'm hoping they have made it easy for children to sign in so they can you their accounts and not mess up mine with regards apple music and apple tv recommendations. I also have purchases from different regions...

+S mo Well you can control the accounts on an individual app level. So if they use certain apps, and you use others, it should be ok. Netflix still has its profile that you choose which keeps those recommendations separate, and you should be able to use purchases from different accounts assuming you authorize it with those accounts. I can't speak for different regions as I don't have a way to test that.

I paired my harman kardon speaker to the newest Apple TV which I got today. When I wanted to go back to my normal speakers I simply just turned the speaker off with a button on the speaker it self, but when I pressed something it started running. I then plugged it off and everything was working fine. That's when I wanted to pair my iPhone 6 with my speaker for some music at dinner, when it automatically paired it with the Apple TV. How do I turn off it so it isn't connected to the speaker?

+Whayo Hey there! Ok so that is a big question! I will do my best to break it up. Apple TV Benefits: The Apple TV is the best box for mirroring your devices. So you can mirror you whole computer screen, iPhone, or iPad. This is really a huge thing for me. You can also play individual videos from your devices. The Apple TV is the only device with iTunes. If you have other devices like an iPhone or iPad, a lot of your media, whether music or movies, will be set for the Apple TV, but most of the apps are one time purchases. SO if you bought it on your iPhone, you will get the Apple TV counterpart. As far as watching free TV, there is no straight free TV app. There are tons of network apps which sometimes include free episodes or clips. Disadvantages: It is much more expensive than the chromecast. It also doesn't have just a super fast ethernet port. Just the 10/100. The app store is a little bit limited at the moment, but is FAR beyond what is offered on the Chromecast. Even though there isn't a ton of just free tv, the same restrictions that apply here, apply to the Chromecast except amplified. Chomecast benefits: It is super tiny and cheap. Those are the biggest benefits of the Chromecast. Disadvantages: It doesnt have a remote. You must use your device to control it. This can be annoying having your phone open and controlling the TV. It also can't stream your desktop, just the videos inside the apps, or what is in a chrome browser. I hope that clears a bit of it up. Both units are much better if you either have a) a cable subscription, to sign into all the network apps b) a Hulu account or c) a Netflix account. However the Apple TV has quite a bit more you can do since it has the full app store. You can use services like Plex, or AIrVideo HD to stream content from a HDD directly to your Apple TV.

+Prank Invasion It will show up on your TV's top right hand corner that the battery is low and needs charged. It should last a few months after an hour or so of charging. Throw it on the charger overnight ever few weeks!

+EPH S Thanks! Not gonna lie I really am proud of those shots! I shoot using a Nikon D7000 at 1080p. I use a few lenses, these were either a 35mm 1.8 prime or a 50mm 1.4 prime. As a secondary camera, which i didn't use for these, I use a Sony a6000 which is also really nice!

Well Nikon just released a few cameras so you should be able to pick up some last gen cameras for a good discount. As far as lenses, for video I shoot with manual primes anyway so I can get really old glass for real cheap that work fantastically. Good luck!

+Robin Steal I would assume so. If you could on the last generation I don't see why you couldn't. Anything should be able to plug into a modem and access the internet. The modem simply delivers one line of internet to a router with multiple internal IPs, so without a router you still have that one line of access to the internet that you can tap in to!

Im not sure I completely understand the question. The Apple TV has a photos app that can pull directly from the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad. You don't have to do anything extra. On top of that, there are many many third party apps like Flikr that offer iPhone and Apple TV apps you could use as an alternative.

Straight into the Apple TV? No, that will not work. But if you have them on some sort of networked drive, absolutely. You can use something like Plex or VLC, or Infuse to play those, pretty much regardless of format.

I'm trying to use my Bose sound system with this. It's connected to my TV via the optical port. Is there a way to use the Apple TV remote to change the volume on the Bose?

+Deerector If it is in view of the new Apple TV remote you can go into the settings and learn the old remote with the Siri remote and it should work! It sends the signal through standard IR so it doesnt matter how the sound system is hooked up, as long as the Siri remote can see it!

+Andrew OHara ok done. It wasn't actually Learn Remote. That would be for using another remote. It was under Volume Control. Now Apple TV controls the volume on the Bose speakers and woofer. So now I keep my TV muted and when I raise and lower volume on the Apple TV remote, the Bose responds accordingly. Thank you so much for your help... Im bad with this stuff.

Hey mate got a question. Was Going to buy an airport express to wirelessly play music to my old amp via rca to 3.5mm jack. Can the Apple TV plug into my old amp via rca "red and white" jacks.??? Then play say,... Netflix through the stereo. My blue ray player can connect to the amp but the new smart to can't connect to the amp anyway!!!!! Except through the headphone jack which is very poor quality. Thanks in advance

It can, but with an asterisk. The only output from the Apple TV is HDMI. SO, that is completely digital, not analog like RCA. So what you need here is something basically hijack the audio. It is called an HDMI to Audio Extractor and it has an HDMI input, and HDMI output, and RCA audio output. You can find a decent one here: amzn.to/2mJvQnt

+Josh S Most things, but right now you can't search that content via siri. You can still fast forward, and ask "what did he say?" while watching your content. But anything like "Who is in this movie?" won't work, nor will the content discovery

That said, force quitting apps doesnt do a whole lot unless they are acting up. It is a myth that quitting apps on the iPhone helps battery life. When in the background, they don't use any power.

Question to anyone who has the 4th gen Apple TV: Our old TV recently died, and so we got a new LG TV. It was a great deal, so we bought it really fast and we actually thought it was not a smart TV, so we also bought an Apple TV. Then we found out later that the LG TV actually is a smart TV with the "WebOS" operating system. So does anyone else have a TV with WebOS but still choose to use Apple TV? If so, why? We won't be getting our orders until later next week, so we are going to quickly try out the WebOS before deciding whether or not to return the Apple TV.

+Tim Crouch Hi there! WebOS is pretty neat and Im glad to see LG investing time into it with their latest updates. I think it depends what you want to use it with. If you just want to use it for streaming Netlix or Hulu, your life won't be too different either way. What I prefer about the Apple TV is the abundance of apps available. I like the amount of games, as well as TV network apps. Like USA, FX, etc.

+Andrew OHara Thanks for the speedy reply! Our old TV was a Vizio with what was probably at the time one of the earliest smart TV operating systems. But, it was essentially unusable due to being almost impossible to type anything with the arrow buttons. That experience has been in my mind which has been one of the reasons I wanted to compare the Apple TV to WebOS, but I am guessing things have probably progressed wildly since those old Vizio OS days. But I am also interested in what Apple TV brings, such as Siri, as well as the possibility to develop software for it (just got a Mac and have been learning Swift for work). I will be comparing them next week and will decide what to go with, but your input has been very helpful. Particularly that WebOS is a nice TV OS so that puts some of my fears of it to rest. Thanks!

Honestly I returned the Apple TV because the smart TV was enough for me. If it is possible, I am sure there are guides if you search on Google. I assume you mean in the remote of course. If it turns out you simply can't change it, you could contact Apple and see if they will sell a replacement remote. They support their products quite well.
