We did hitting drills today and my first two were amazing imo but the other two were not bc I have to work on timing. I was rlly embarrassed and still am but it's ok bc no one's gonna remember. I can get better and make it next year. At my school, they value serving the most so my advice would be to get a solid serve down

tysm! I have tryouts tomorrow through Friday and I've never tried out for a sport before, so these are really helpful! Probably not going to make the team because I'm not very well "conditioned" at all, but hopefully it gives me fuel to make the team next year! UPDATE: I didn't make the team, but the coach appreciated that I was committed and willing to learn so he offered me a position as manager. He says that if I work hard and get more time in, I'm almost sure to make the team next year!

Hi Koko! My freshman tryouts start tomorrow and end on the 13th, I've never played volleyball before but I did summer camps in a club and then at Harper College, so I think I'll do well! Thank you so much for your tips! Okay so this is the second day of tryouts, i lost the first one because my doctor didn’t put that I was able to do sports, so yeah, but today so far has been good and I think my skills are pretty much average compared to what I thought, and that kinda makes me feel insecure about if I’m gonna make it or not- but ill try to not feel that way. Tomorrow is the last day and the coaches are emailing on Monday night to let us know if we got in one of the two freshman teams. I’ve been thinking about this moment since summer started so i really hope I make it :) Today was the last day, morning practice, and I think this has been my best day so far. I was loud on the court and out of it, played well and communicated; still have some practice to do but I think I did a really good job. The emails are out on Monday 5:30/6:00 pm, so I'll update then! I did not make the team:(

I had my tryouts today and sadly I didn’t make it. I did find out from my friend that did make it that the coaches picked their favorites (which did include people who couldn’t pass, set, hit, or serve) instead of the people who really tried their best and could do it.

alr so i tried out last year and didn’t make the team. i think the main reason for that is i had basically no experience playing in a game, so i was forgetting to call for the ball, didn’t know when to set the ball or just over it, and so because of that a lot of the times the ball ended up just dropping in the court. i have tryouts in 2 weeks and want to be able to go into the scrimmages we do with confidence, but i have 0 way to play in a game. my friends can’t play with me, and most of my family can’t play because of whatever they have going on at the moment (health issues, work etc.) basically the point i’m trying to make here is that there is practically no way for me to play in a ‘real’ game. i’’ve been practicing setting, passing, and serving for 2 years now so i want to move on to improving my game sense. is there *anything* i can do? there’s no clubs or recreational volleyball near me either 💀🤞

I'm pretty nervous, my high school provided a camp a week or 2 before school started. So I got a extra look at who i'm trying out against. The girls are pretty good, I feel horrible when I mess up, I try not to get in my head but it's hard. There's always that little voice telling me I am the worst player (Which I know is not true) but it's still there. I feel I did pretty good, so hopefully I get on! (my tryouts are on the first day of school 😁)
