Another tip that I learned for podcast listening and drama watching, is finding a speaker who’s voice you like or your voice matches with and copying them and it will make you a bit more conscious in how you want to pronounce things and a comparison.
@eundongpark16723 жыл бұрын
Yeah I just started trying that last week. Actually I'm using sound files from TTMIK lessons. They're not exactly natural speach, but they'll get me started and I've already noticed some problems with my pronunciation, plus easier flow in saying the stuff I've been working with. Later I'll find more people in the "wild" to shadow

Another tip: Imagine having a conversation with your bias or favorite actor/actress. Ask them questions and try to imagine what their responses would be. Or try telling them how and why you became a fan, what do you like most about their work etc.

These are great tips! I think one of my most favorite things about being a Korean language learner is that even the minimal amount of Korean you speak to a native speaker gets them excited! I went to my first Korean restaurant the other day and ordered in Korean and said things like "thank you" and "goodbye" to the staff. And while I maybe spoke a total of 8 Korean words to them, all of them got huge smiles and said "Oh! You speak Korean!?" or chuckled happily when I would say something to them. Same experience when I went to the Korean grocery store! I only said "hello" "thank you" "good bye" and "sorry I have a lot" in Korean to them, but they were quite impressed and excited. This is a language I don't think I'll ever be nervous to speak because anytime I have spoken it, I have gotten such warm and kind reception for it

I love this!!! I have received a similarly warm reception, too :). I even got a coupon from a Korean shop owner just for speaking Korean to one of her employees! I am a total beginner, but the Korean shop employees were so kind. It felt amazing to be praised for my very limited vocabulary! 💜🇺🇲🇰🇷 It made me so excited to go back and talk to them again.

Great tips, especially about recording yourself. The good idea is also to keep some of the recordings to help you track your progress as well, especially when you feel like you are not improving. Could you please make a similar video on reading practice in Korean for beginners/low-intermediate level, like what resources are the most useful (children books vs webtoons vs books you have read previously in your mother tongue etc) and what approaches work best to make reading practice the most effective. Thanks!

same. I have two insanely large flashcard sets on Quizlet. When I come across a new word in a simple-but-useful sentence, I add the new word to my vocab flashcard set and also add the sentence to my sentence flashcard set. First I learn the vocab and once I've pretty much got it, I practice the sentence flashcard set to learn it in context. The lists slowly get really large but I'm studying them in many spare moments so most of the set is getting easier (occasionally I drop super-easy stuff out of the set)

Thanks for such a useful video! 👍 In addition to the video, although siri or other virtual assistants can't listen to you for long, here's what I like to do to see how accurate my speaking pronunciation is: I try to read a text or speak to the voice function of papago app. It will listen to you for much longer until you stop talking and I check how much of the text written is the same as what I was saying. Then I can find out which words I didn't have a good pronunciation on and papago didn't write the same word and practice those. It also helps you find the correct flow of saying sentences naturally

We can always record ourselves speaking Korean and then listen to it and then compare it with a native speaker. It's a great way to improve our speaking. But some of us (me for example 😜) has a really low pitched voice and it sounds really awkward after recording. That's why I've installed Talking Angela and I think it's really helpful since it copies everything I say and replies right away.

Siri is a good idea. I’ve been using Papago to see if my accent is on point or not because if it can’t understand me than that means I’m saying it wrong. It’s also taught me to talk faster because things will be spaced out that shouldn’t be spaced out because I’m not putting things together when I speak!

Could I ask a question, please? I'm on the level 5 of the TTMIK website. So I've learned the structure "Verb + (ㄴ/는)다고 + Verb" and "Verb + (으)라고 + Verb" and I understood the difference between them is that we use "Verb + (으)라고 + Verb" with imperative statements. However, there's this example in the "Verb + (ㄴ/는)다고 + Verb" lesson : "저도 간다고 말해 주세요", which is making me confused 🤔. Shouldn't be used (으)라고 in this case? Or it's an exception when I'm taking about myself? Thank you so much for the attention!
