Anyong seo! I'm from the US and I've become a fan of k-dramas, so I thought it would be fun to learn Korean and not have to rely on subtitles (which feels a long way off right now). I've started this learning journey about a year ago, but I took a break and for several months and have just gotten back into it. I'm from the Seattle area on the west coast of the US - and we are all about coffee here (Starbucks started here)! I hope to visit Korea someday. Kansahamnida for sharing these stories with us to help us learn. I appreciate it!

I also recommend listening to the same material repeatedly with and without subtitles in a row. In german cafes, all you can do besides eating and drinking is talking to who you are there with. If 2 people or more come together, they let them talk for a while even i they are finished, some stay for so long. But if you are alone, many cafes will let you stay only 5 or 10 minutes after finishing if they are generous. After that, many will ask you to leave or order more. Studying or reading is unthinkable in most cafes here. It´s sad, I love being in cafes and I would love to study o read there. Fortunately the coffee/bagel shop owner in my street is really nice, she doesn´t mind people staying longer. It´s not easy to study ther because the tables are high and small, but if you just bring a study notebook it is possible to study for maybe an hour. She never asks people to leave unless she´s closing.
@storytimeinkorean Жыл бұрын
Ohh! I never knew that about German cafes! That’s for sure such a different perspective that the country/society has. Thank you for sharing about it! But it’s good that you have at least that cafe that you can study in for a little bit longer! 🥺 I know, studying or reading in cafes are just relaxing but fun. That’s such a bummer. Hopefully you get to visit/travel to different countries or places that have cafes where you can stay as long as you want one day! 😊

This was so relaxing to listen to! I enjoyed that the video was short (I'm not a long podcasts person), and that you paused to let the viewer respond and attempt to form sentences in Korean to reply with. I'm from Vancouver, and we have a large Asian population, specifically Chinese. But we do have a decent amount of Koreans and Japanese too. I've been to cafés here with korean-style doughnuts and drinks, but Korea has so many cute themed cafés I would love to visit one day

Thank you so much for enjoying the podcast!! 😊 That's awesome that you have cafes with Korean doughnuts and drinks! We only have a couple where I live now, so it's hard to get them. My favorite Korean doughnut is called 꽈배기, It's a twisted, cinnamon doughnut. Since there are Koreans in your area, hopefully you can practice speaking with them and the videos can help even a little! ❤ 정말 감사합니다!
