What I have learnt from 11 years of delivering flipped learning. In this video I go through some of the key observations from teaching with the flipped classroom as well as running teacher training courses on the flipped classroom. I first started to flip my learning in 2008. The points I try to make are
1) How to connect what students do at home with that students do in the class.
2) How assessment needs to change
3) How the flipped classroom is actually based on two theories of learning
4) What role E-Portfolios can play in the flipped classroom and why they are so suited to a flipped approach to teaching and learning.
5) How the flipped classroom is connected to bloom's taxonomy.
6) What key technologies you need for the flipped classroom
A quick and clear video that goes through some of the key points around the flipped learning and what you need to consider as a teacher. An ideal video for any teacher who wants to understand more about the flipped classroom.

As always, excellent advice. I delete a lot of regular emails that I receive, however, I never delete your emails. I make sure what valuable info you'll share. Very useful. Thank you, Russell.

Thanks for all your help, Russell! This year I'm doing something I've never done before, and it will be a flipped classroom. Your discussion gave me some good ideas, especially regarding assessment and ways to encourage students to expand their techniques of communicating.

Another great video. I don't know why it's taken the pandemic to get me to consider flipping my classes. What you say about assessing in a new way posed by flipping the class is interesting made me stop and think about assessment (which, for me right now, has been a real difficult aspect to approach, especially summative assessment). Can you give an example of this new kind of assessment, one that would assure that students would not be able to or, perhaps, even want to use resources other than their own minds? Thanks.
