Oh I didn’t know that but if I remember Tony at Little Farmers Farm used to say that. Poly is cooking hot in the sun even now, yikes god help us in summertime. Your peas are doing the best so far and I keep going to check on them 🤭🤭. I don’t like cucamelons but Gerald does so he can eat the,. Hi Ali, busy time of year and all your flowers are coming along nicely, the roof looks great and the door you have done well. The Agrilan Trainer i generally wait until the shoots are at least 2" high i then leave the lid on for a few more days to get the fresh air going under the lid when you turn it, then when everything is ready i pop them out. At the moment where i am on the Wirral the weather is mixed with the usual crap rain that comes with a stormy wind, the odd dark day but no rain which is a weird one then the darkness goes away then it rains, go figure that one i think we have had one day maybe two of sunshine so it's get the Lettuces sown time. Anyway keep sowing and both of you take care. Barry (ENG)

Afternoon Barry I hope you are all well. Good tip about the trainer it’s new to me this year. Our weather (🤭🤭 it’s all us gardeners talk about ) is really varied, it’s zero c in the morning (crack of dawn when Gerald gets up) but by the afternoon we’re hitting mid teens and sunshine. Having bragged about that rain and cold back after today 😢. I keep thinking 🤔 ok I think I’ve got all,this under control and then look at the sowing lists and I have loads more to sow. But all better than nothing to do isn’t it. I hope you had a lovely Easter thank you for your continued support and happy gardening 👨‍🌾

@@myrustygarden Hi Ali, not sure if you knew about the lid but there is one way were there is no gap, then if you turn the lid around it shows an air gap on both edge sides, have a look i'm sure you will be ok with it. Let me know if you have sorted it, take care.

Ali, I just found out we're actually neighbours. I used to live in Langley. 🤫 My "garden" is all pots on cement, but I do manage to enjoy fiddle cuddling around just the same. I have worm compost. Using it in starter mix this year, much better results.

Oh cool it’s funny most of the channels I watch are on the other side of the world 🤭 so it’s nice to have people nearby too. I think container gardening is becoming more popular especially with people that live in townhomes or apt that never thought they could grow fresh food. I am just West of you about 10 kms. I am doing all kind of experimenting because my growing areas are mostly shaded. I made a seed starter with a bit of compost, lots of coco coir and worm castings. It's proven to be far better than before. I have ground cherry seeds, so this will be the first time trying to grow them. I look forward to seeing how well I can grow them and find out what they taste like.

Pots are great there’s a few people I mention in the notes that only grow in pots with amazing results so keep going 💪. I know Nick in the UK using a lot of worm castings with great results. Hi Ali. Happy Easter 🐇 🌷🌷 Im glad that the weather is going your way. You are flying with seed sowing. Thats the thing with seed sowing, you never know if stuff will come up until they do. I grew cucamelons last year. Never ate one lol. How much of your hydrangea did you cut off?. Dont cut the flower heads off. Yep, keep on top of that marestail. You have made a lovely job of your shady bed area. Very impressed. You can see how much your garden is coming to life. Put your tulips in baskets and sink them in in Autumn, then bring the whole thing out once their finished. I know you have critters and perhaps the baskets will slow them down. Morning/afternoon Elaine happy Easter 🐣 to everyone. It has been very cold 🥶 in the morning but sunshine by afternoon is workable. Gerald likes the cucamelon not me 🤢 but then he eats raw peas too 🫣. I cut to the first bud on some stems and they normally flower ok but as I just put them in last year (poor things were moved twice) I wasn’t expecting a lot of blooms yet. I will definitely have to work on the tulip issue next year. Have a simply awesome week ahead hope it’s not too wet 🥰🙏

I am trying to be in at least half the shots 🤣. I have a tripod but for some reason I keep forgetting to take it out with me. Senior moments are common more so once retired as there is no gauge to go by every day is just another day I get to get up 🤣🤣. He was working in the shop and got mad that I didn’t call him to help me 🤦🏼‍♀️. Hope you both had a fab Easter and got out to do some singing 🐣

Morning Linda I hope you are well. It is super cold (zero c) in the mornings the last few days but mid afternoon is sunny (16c). I don’t like peas especially raw but Gerald will eat them right off the vine any day, in fact I shell them and he eats them like candy out of a bowl in the fridge. Cucamelons are a sour gherkin I believe the pay get their name because they look like tiny watermelons on the outside. Again I don’t like them but Gerald does. It is our go go go time starting here so it’s all guns a blazing 🤭. Have a wonderful week ahead Linda and Happy Easter 🐣

HI Ali, great to see you getting stuff outside, I love how youtubers send each other seeds and stuff, great community, How will the shade cloth affect light in your sowing space? Do you usually get hot bright springs? Funny how you have moved from tulips to daffs, we have done the opposite more tulips and less daffs, personal taste I suppose, my daffs just went weedy and thin, not sure why. It is a good feeling to get stuff done finally isn’t it. One of the best things about KZbin is the community of gardeners. The shade cloth helps actually because I grow brassicas in there and our weather gets super hot in summer. It also helps with cabbage whites 🤞🤞. Ahh tulips 🌷 well I bought and grew loads over the years but for some reason the last two years I have had nothing but issues with something eating the bulbs. I have tried a number of things to no avail so I found some lovely daffodil varieties that nothing eats 🤣. Hope you had an amazing weekend and fun in the garden 👩‍🌾

I could do with some of that grid for my pea bed. I am aiming for a big pea bed this year. The roof cover looks great 👍 we'll done as it looked hard work. It looks pretty hot when urnfixing the door, it's been nice here but forcast showers or rain next week in 🇬🇧 I am.not growing cucamelons this year. Last year they done quite well considering they were totally over shadowed by the tomato jungle. 🍅 The beans look great 👍 I'm going to do mine over the arch in the pot bead. Ali the seeds you sent us all grew. We have set the sugar snap away and I am sure you sent them 2022 and they are flying ❤ Our marigold germination is poor this year but it is still a little early so I still have faith lol 😆 22:50 😂😂😂😂 Happy Easter 🐰 🐣

The grid I use for those peas is actually a candle lite room divider I bought off FB marketplace and of course painted red. The back one are ikea bed frames I don’t like wood it rots here too easy with all the rains. I’m so glad everything is growing along nicely 🥰. I don’t like chameleons but Gerald does and I have to grow some things he likes 🤣🤣 or how else would I get free labour. We have gorgeous weather this weekend and up to tues then cold and rain again 🤦🏼‍♀️. It’s a great feeling to get things in the ground isn’t it and easy is good 👍. I don’t think so about the seed I fall prey to Etsy for seed I can’t get other places but I don’t let that slide in give them the reviews they deserve 🤭🤭. Tulips have been such a challenge again this year but I’ve been doing some searching on daffodils and there are some stunners out there (there goes boxes years flower budget 🤣). Does freakin not count as F`in Ali 🤣🤣🤣. Mares tail is nasty stuff, i had some come up between the paving stone path on my old plot, i poured a little bit of petrol mixed with 2 stroke oil on it, it never came back in 3 years. I wouldnt do that anywhere near my beds though, just keep pulling it out and hope to weaken it. Loving the daffs, i thought you might have a go at trying to change the flower colour from yellow to pink like danny and Linda are trying to do. I may try next year. You have been very busy Ali, the bulb planter i sometimes use when planting my mains potatoes out if i cant be bothered to trench 😉. Have a great week Ali

🤪🤪 it depends on how often I have to say it in a string of words. I’ll tell you a little story. When I worked in sales there was a lovely Asian man who was new to Canada and extremely quiet and polite ( not a Canadian trait 🤭🤭) so when the big F bomb came out as it regularly did we were always saying “sorry Eric, sorry Eric”. He said one day it’s ok you guys don’t have to apologize I have cno me to the conclusion you people (no malice intended) use that word as an exclamation point ‼️‼️ and we all moved on 🤪🤪. But moving on Gerald sprays it with something out the area of the veg but some slip through 🤷‍♀️. I couldn’t find white daffs in time but you’ll notice no one has done any updates on it 😁. They are actually old IKEA bed frames Faye I bought from marketplace FB, I used to use wood but it doesn’t last long. Mares tail is a weed that looks like a horses tail it creeps along under ground and pops up everywhere 😡. It takes some getting used to working with a GoPro but the filming looks nicer. Hey Tony, it has been so odd this last few days. This morning was zero c at 6 am then 18c in the sun 🌞 at noon. Frost date was ha ha March 31 so I’m testing the waters putting gpa few things outside, so far so good. Happy Easter 🐣 to everyone

Hi Ali, all looking good, I have a couple of questions: I know Liz Zorab has said greek gigantes can be perennial if in the right conditions but are you not worried about a frost? I meant to ask this when you sowed them a couple of weeks back. Also first time sowing poppies for me this year do you always just sow in normal trays or deep trays?

Evening Ady I hope you had an awesome Easter 🐣. Yes I remember Liz overwintered beans but if I remember correctly they were just hiding underground so I tried 🤦🏼‍♀️ I even put a bottle cloche over them and no they didn’t make it. But we don’t know if we don’t try. As for poopies they are finicky seedlings so I sow them most,y in a paper tray (perhaps toilet rolls cut in half) or even better just scatter on top of the soil once last frost has gone. I do both (a gambler always hedges their bets 🎲🎲). Hope you enjoy some lovely weather this week and I know everyone says it but I really do love the support you always, always have something nice to say and questions or answers that help 🥰🥰me and hopefully others
