The thing about 100 man kumite is that after 1 guy, you're fine. After a few, blocking starts to hurt. That's the major factor, fighting through fatigue and fighting through the fact that after a while, even protecting yourself is painful. But this is highly impressive.

Brief translation. Today, we will start the 5th 100 men kumite. It’s a lonely fight. However, I believe that there is man’s romanticism and value in fighting. Please complete this 100 men kumite no matter what, and create the firm foundation towards the world tournament.

Always i try to understand the people that focus in the negatives aspects, without understand karate is a way of life. The way to deliver the techniques and to teach, and the approach of kumite is particular for every style, and that doesnt mean is bad or wrong. Respect, respect the way others do the stuff, because when you dont understand that meaning you have to bow your head, and reconigze your ignorance, and show respect.

Masuda is very good. That 99th guy (46:22) was really hitting him hard and have no mercy on Masuda -- including accidentally kicked him in the balls. I know they are not supposed to go too easy on the challengers, but that guy really goes full force and full speed. If everyone goes full force like that, then I don't think anyone could have last more than 20 rounds like that.. I mean. The 100th guy obviously was holding back compared to the 99th guy.
@aurelianspodarec2629 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was thinking that too lol having two fresh guys going full force at the end could result in KO xd So I guess he offbalanced by going easy on him
He's sparring 100 people, not fighting them. He's not doing some Japanese version of Taken where he needs to kill everything with a pulse. You're specifically not supposed to go all-out in sparring. The impressive part is the ridiculous amount of stamina he displays to get through 100 sparring matches while doing something resembling martial arts at the end of it.

I see what you're saying. I think when they went from the description of the film, somehow, I was stuck thinking that, it was an all out fight from person 1 to 100. To this credit, it's kind of between a spar and fight due to no protective gears and they are throwing their punches and kicks pretty hard. It's not a full on fight, I don't see any direct punches to the face, kicks yes. It's more like a fight marathon of test of will. Masuda earns his respect and it's not an easy task to complete.

Kumite literally means "meeting of hands" in Japanese,but of course that the term Kumite is widely used as a way of describing the act of fighting or sparring.
its a matter of endurance and strength,its purpose is to try and see if you can last that long and stay standing that long,remember that if you reach the 100th man then that mans you just fought 99 and the last man you are going to fight is a fresh opponent while you have been running out of oxygen hours ago.

One thing I realized by watching the 100 Kumite videos is that the only men whoever passed it were substantially larger than their opponents. Masuda and looks about twice the size than the majority of the other karateka he was up against, and that gives him a HUGE advantage. Not discrediting him in any way shape or form, I just find it interesting.

I mean no disrespect to the fighters, and I know I could not last through an anythingth of the kumite, but... what's the point? No one really seems like they're trying to beat him, and he's throwing out kicks like he's got to do this all day. I mean, yeah, he's got to do this all day, but the point is to be strong enough to ACTUALLY fight against a hundred eager opponents, not just play at doing so. Having watched real fights with energy to them, this comes across as a slow play.
