Wow! Mr Ogle this is a fantastic and creative piece. You have a lot of talent and patience. I do like the way you work round problems and never get disheartened. Through watching yourself and Mr Furtado I really think one day I'll get myself a lathe.

Wonderful piece, Stephen. From the look of the wood colour and grain, I'd say probably spruce, maybe pine and not fir. Whatever the species, has me reevaluating my scrap bin. Thanks so much for your service to your country. Cheers, Gord

Thank you Emory. I am really glad you enjoyed this project all the way through. Thank you for commenting and good luck on yours. Oh yeah, The PVC for your sander should work fine as long as you do not try to go too long. If it gives at all it will not yield the results you need for segmenting. You may try also to insert a wooden mandrel inside the PVC. I have seen videos of this and it seems to work very well. Again thank you for watching and enjoying my channel.

Your vase looks great, using Dug Fir, I'm impressed with the finish you got, nice job. Some years ago one of my first turnings was from an old 4 x 4 l had laying around, l made three candle holders, they still look good after eight years. I think it's time for a trip to Home Depot to buy some 1 x 4 (good grade lumber) to cut into segments and give it try.

Thank you Larry. Glad you enjoyed this project. The 2x4 I used was just to make sure that the plan would work and it did. Now I can use whatever wood I would like and it will work with this plan.
