Attorney Merchant is suing Fulton County and the DA’s office because she’s investigating them. She requested open records and they have either altered or stonewalled to avoid giving them to her. It’s a legal right for anyone who wants public records to obtain them upon request regardless of the reason.

I watched the entirety of this (it’s on a break now) and my I think the judge is mistaking Attorney Merchant’s frustration for gamesmanship. I think she needed to express her opinion about the stonewall tactics to make her point. Also, I don’t know if in civil court there’s a rule against stating that there’s something afoul in the defendant’s office. I think it’s important that she has proof that there’s been funny stuff going on. They are hiding, lying, altering, etc and she’s got proof.
