Nurses said Casper lost his tail and had significant wounds to on his back and neck, and wasn't even found until two days after the attack by a pack of 11 coyotes.
Despite being only a 20-month-old Great Pyrenees, the livestock herding dog at a home in Decatur displayed his heroic actions by protecting a herd of sheep last month.

Gross! His job??? Do you even hear yourself??? Do you have any idea what you’re even saying?? No, clearly, you don’t. You’re super conditioned, programmed, and whitewashed to even think that this is acceptable. This is called colonization. And it’s been going on for about 10,000 years, but it’s never been a good thing for the planet and the biomass of wild flora and fauna that is systematically destroyed by animal agriculture industry operations, and the ensuing deforestation, habitat loss, and species extinction it has caused globally. This is a horrible story, and dogs and people who own dogs and who farm animals are what really need to go. Or at least wake the F up and change your unconscious, selfish ways of life. End all support of the animal agriculture industry worldwide effective immediately, including all animal-based pharmaceuticals, like vaccines! Instead, plant trees, and eat plants. Ya know? Like an actual guardian, gardener, steward, and protector of All Life and of all habitats and all creatures great and small, like human animals are meant to be. Not killers, destroyers, and consumers of All Life and of all habitats and all creatures great and small, like we are and have been for far too long. That’s more like being totally Satanic and worshipping Satan by normalizing violence, and worshipping death by eating it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Gah! So unconscious! So ridiculous! Everyone on this thread and in this whitewashed, global, collapsing society. Stupid is, as stupid does. 🤦🏻‍♀️

A true warrior. Don't force him to be a house dog. Guarding is what he was born to do and wants to do. As I understood the original story, the last dead coyote was found a considerable distance from where this all began. So, he engaged in a running battle with the coyotes away from where they initially tried attacking the sheep. Then he turned up two days later back behind his owners house. This dog goes down in guard dog INFAMY. Salute to Casper !

yea when they regrouped to get their story straight it wasn't a single dog it was a 15 or 20 of them, they were everywhere we were lucky to escape. I live about 20 miles NE of this and the number of coyotes seen recently is going up. Last year there was a bear sighted headed along I85 and mind you this about 35 miles NE of downtown Atlanta

Being the dog that he is, he likely wouldn't be happy staying inside being pampered. But, I agree, knowing the area is populated with an aggressive pack they should get at least one more dog. Daisy stayed with the sheep, kept them herded into one corner of the fenced area. Casper need help.

@@lorelleblackwell8556 My thoughts exactly. I mean, if he's done being a working dog, he'll probably show reluctance to rejoin the sheep, but even then...I dunno, I would take him out with the sheep when he's healed enough, and just see how he acts. If he acts like, "No way I'm going back there," then sure, let him retire. But if he acts like, "Yeah! Back in the saddle again!" then let him do what he does best. He's still a pretty young dog.

This boy would probably become depressed and waste away if he couldn't be outside, doing his job. Get him a backup dog or two, and let him return to his rightful place as head of the guardian brigade. It's his calling, and he would be miserable if he couldn't go back to it. I know. It's good that he survived! In my area we sometimes lose dogs to bears and whatnot... That's why I hate leaving a dog on a chain, it's basically a sitting duck. Years ago my exs gparents had a dog tied up and it was mauled by a bear. Didn't eat it or anything.... It's sad. Also.... I know so many people who have had their dogs pass due to chaining them up, besides animal attacks. Plenty will wrap themselves to the point they can't access water or hang themselves. It's sad asf. I'd rather have a perimeter shock collar, but I get that isn't a viable solution for everyone (some people say that's unethical, but I'd rather my dog be safe than be hit by a car, etc... I've met too many dogs that can jump a 6 ft fence to trust it lol!)
