Thanks JFA, the antenna and feeding is the key (other than propagation of coarse), This is my small 11m antenna and mast. I have a Strumech P60HD tower with a Vortex very HD 4 element delta-loop fitted. I really need to get it coaxed up properly and start using it soon. 🙂

props been wild for the last 6 months and crazy at times due to the cycle... winter + season now so its global on occasion... what a great time for upper HF.. including 11 meters of course.

Italy has been extremely strong on 11m, this last few days. Lots of AM on the usual SSB frequencies (27.485-27.530) etc.

No........It's an English built Vortex Quasar Q82 MK II 7/8 wave. The basis design is that of the Avanti Sigma 4, but far larger and the basket is twice as long. Also it is massively over engineered from HD aircraft spec alloy. It is mounted on a two section tilt over mast built by MM0CUG. Also there are two 1:1 current baluns made by Vortex, both fed with high end M&P coax cable. The other feeds a 40m dipole that is currently rolled up on two MIG welding wire spools.

@m0ogy wow..that's some spec. Seen the Vortex stuff before, believe it's shut down now. I tried to copy their 10m slim jim...in 22 and 15 mm copper tube. Not my best project 😕 😪 Regards David G6SBR

@@davidbridge3542 Hello David, I have a few of Steve's (Vortex) antennas, the very first 11m Slim Jim he made (I also reviewed that in Radiouser magazine) a previous Q64 ground plane for 11m, my big antenna on my tower is a HD 4 element Delta loop and I also have a bespoke 2M stacked vertical. Yes I'm a bit of a fan 🙂
