The nylon m56 suspenders are 3rd pattern. I don't think they were used to much because ALICE would replace them just a few years later.

A lot of people think M1967 was a replacement for M1956. It wasn't. M1956 was used well into the ALICE era. ESPECIALLY the suspenders. Even in the early 2000s, active duty were trying to get M1956 suspenders to use instead of the ALICE Y suspenders. I have an interesting book series called Ranger Digest. It is a lot of field craft and tips and tricks from a former Ranger. Worth a read if you can find it for ideas of how things were used in the field and on the battlefield.

@voraciousblackstn I mean yeah, I'll trust you on that. I'm just saying I don't think that the 3rd pattern M56 suspenders were produced for a long time in comparison to 2nd pattern and such.

Can't speak for everyone, but I missed ya. Glad school is going good. Those are some good finds! My latest find is a Woodland MSS in an RFI (small) compression bag missing the Intermediate Cold Weather bag. So that is Bivy, Patrol Bag and small compression bag for $18. Already had the black 9 strap MSS compression sack, just need the ICW bag now. Surplus just isn't as easy to come by around here, no base except an admin base. Find gems in flea markets and antique stores occasionally though. Shoulda jumped on the Woodman's Pal I saw complete for $150. It was Vietnam era, but the full sized, not the survival kit version.

Just the other day I was thinking about how cool it would look if they went back to M56 gear. I mean, they went back with class A's so theirs hope.
