I've been an artist over 20 years. I find this show to be very brutal!!! I would never place myself in a position like that as an artist. And I definitely wouldn't recommend a new artist to walk in that path. It was very difficult to watch these eliminations. I had thought about joining the online "Milan Art Institute" program, there's no way I would join this program!!! Especially if this is the way they operate! We have to stop getting involved with other "Reality" chains. It's not the artist way. We are here to be creative and to and joy to the world, not to devastate a promising artist's career. Even if things turns out for some, the end does not justify the means. I find this show to be very disheartening!!!

Thank you so much for your honest feedback. To clarify, The Outstanding Artist is a completely separate, and different, experience than the Mastery Program. In this reality show format, there are challenges and competitions. However, the Mastery Program is a skill-building and voice-discovering journey that is encouraging, supportive, and self-reflecting. We understand that an art competition is not everyone's cup of tea, but we hope you are able to find the positive environment within The Mastery Program that you are looking for. ❤️

If the goal is to break an artist’s spirit I think they’re succeeding. The concept goes far beyond a challenge!! What are the living conditions the artists are being given? I hope they were given sufficient recuperation time after this challenge! The only good news is that most of the artists love their work and see it as an expression of their own unique stories. But the judge’s critiques fail to appreciate that. I hate to see some of the artists feeling broken!

@@ivi122 Why do they praise paintings the most that look like their own? The ones that are "masterful" (notice the language used to constantly plug the programme) to them are the ones that are in the exact style of the Milans. I love this show and the milans and all they do! But i think this show would be a lot more meaningful if they didn't eliminate the artists. Instead of elimination they could keep a tally and at the end see who is on top. Every single artist makes bad paintings. And i feel like this show is telling artists that they can not. Just a thought though
@allisonjames292311 ай бұрын
Such a shame Naomi was eliminated. I love her work & it was so sad to hear her question herself as an artist after the first challenge, when I thought her painting was one of the strongest. I can see that this particular painting required an explanation, as until I heard her explain it, I wasn’t sure what she was portraying, but I still thought it was evocative of emotion. I think the contestants hearing the specific criteria they’re to be judged on as the competition is announced would be useful - not sure if that is just edited out. Then hearing the judge’s critique based on those criteria with close ups of the art so we can see what they’re talking about. So it’s not just “I don’t like this, disappointed by that” etc. Also, really making it clear which artist is linked to which piece, especially when there are so many contestants. And I do feel that giving contestants an entire week & then eliminating one or a few based on points across the week would be a better format. I know you’re going for the drama aspect, but this is also about the art.

I see many comments of people who think this competition/challenge in art is "disheartening" "brutal" "wrong" "not what artist community is about". However, in the real world, the world of art is truly brutal. There are tons of art competitions that take place all around the world every year and in every competition there can only be one winner. In addition, the professional world of art is just as hard. Different galleries have all sorts of requirements and different tastes, and every artist who applies definitely does not get in! Social media is also a very important aspect for many artists, and it is truly disheartening when a video or post of work that an artist worked so hard on does not perform as well as their peers who have thousands-even hundreds of thousands- of followers, likes, and comments. If a person is very sensitive emotionally, then this type of competition isn't for them. An artist who participates needs to realize that there are different audiences for every artist and not everyone will love their work, and that this competition with extremely time and materials restricted challenges with a few judges does not reflect them as an artist or their work created under normal conditions. Others compare this series to reality based tv shows, and I disagree. There isn't any drama, people backstabbing and plotting against one another, romance, distasteful behavior, bad role models for younger people, etc. that is typical in reality shows. It shows the challenges, short interviews about the challenges, and critiques by the judges. I don't think this show is something that should make someone think badly of the program, but positively because it is offering a great opportunity to artists to learn their weaknesses and strengths, to grow stronger emotionally as an artist, to learn different skills and strategies as an artist, to spend time with other artists, to win $25K, and it is a great opportunity to get their name out there. There are a few things that concern me about the program, one being that in season two and the few episodes of season 3 I have seen that the artists all seem to paint very similarly to the instructors instead of in their own style, and they are encouraged and incentivized to paint like the judges/instructors as those who progress seem to paint the most similar to the instructors in the challenges. In season 2, those who were eliminated earlier and who had the lowest scores in the mini challenges were those who had very different styles. But, that is just my opinion. Anyway, I enjoy the show and I plan on trying some of the mini challenges from season 2 on my own at home to push myself and for fun.

1.I think we all have two choices… think positive ,be happy about it and think negative , be bitchy about it. If someone does not know a “Reality” show is designed to be entertaining rather than informative. So this is a kind of reality show . And you should be asking yourself are you looking for drama , entertainment or full on education/information. 2. Who does not want Money, who does not want to grow, who doesn’t want to have a good/decent life , we all do. They are doing the same thing there is nothing wrong if you advertising your own stuff. 3.If you see their channel they have multiple choices of videos from where you can learn and trust me they did a very good job. 4.If you follow the show in a positive way you will understand…it’s all about giving you tough times and how you overcome that … if someone unable to do it, that does not mean the artist is a bad artist it just … it actually means from the artist view (if you are a positive thinker)… oh ok till now I was thinking I am good but I really need to work on this to be better , I learned my weaknesses I need to work on it. 5.about the art style …they all are from Milan institute…obviously they like their art style that is why they joined their institute. There is lot of art institute/ college etc out there. But if someone chooses to join Milan it’s an individual artist’s own choice. 6. And I think their painting was judged on the basic components,elements, principles of arts , how they used all these in a tough situation. I really like it how the channel help people ❤

I realize each challenge is designed to push the artist to explore art from different experimental angles that each would not usually or ever implement in their work. However, I honestly think these challenges hinder an artist by stifling an artists creativity and destroy an artist's inner spirit. I just breaks my heart to see all these young women doubting everything they've each learned along their personal journey up to this point in art. Art should challenge you but not break you at the same time. It should be freeing and flowing and spiritual. Just my opinion. 😞

I'm sad. I absolutely loved season 2. I loved the mini challenges and the fact that you got to watch the eliminated artist grow and possibly win a redemption to get back into the contest. While I appreciate being able to watch an episode in unde an hour, I miss seeing the creative process and watching the development of the paintings. I also don't like making artists paint in the sun or in cramped quarters with noises being made. It seems like the family is more concerned with making a reality show than they are about the artists' health and fostering a good environment for creativity. They repeatedly discuss the importance of being in the right brain but then do everything to pull the artists' out of it. That's great for contestants for shows like Survivor that know what they are signing up for, but for an art competition, I feel like it is disrespectful. I hope they go back to more of last year's format. Not sure I will continue watching.if they don't. They are trying to be a Survivor meets Project Runway. I think that's what the last artist competition program got wrong ( I think it was called The Next Great Artist), and it got canceled. If the Milan's wanted to copy a format, I wish they would have chosen American Idol. Maybe the Milans could be mentors and have outside judges critique and pick winners. They seem to favor artists reminiscent of their own style. Please, please go back to a format more like season 2.🙏🙏🙏🙏

This is a boring program. I hope for the next challenge, they prohibit any depiction of faces, animals, or sparkly, flowy "waves". This stuff is all garbage!

Reminds me a bit of "America's Next Top Model" with easels. If you enjoy art competitions you should look up the British tv show "Artist of the Year". They work to a similar formula but the artists featured all have a very unique style and the challenges are based on painting difficult subjects rather than torturing the contestants while they're trying to paint.

I hope they’re coming in far before one minute before they need to be done. And maybe him not talking the entire last minute 😂 some parts of this show irritate me. Thank God they’re all great artists

This whole concept is a huge departure from what you claimed to be, as spiritually awakened art teachers who wish to inspire humanity. Only months ago you posted videos discussing the frigid harshness of traditional art schools, and now you are practicing that very model. Very disappointing.
@arlinejernigan Жыл бұрын
I don't think that they are judging too harshly. In fact, they are being extremely generous in some cases. It is very important to have honest feedback about your art, for growth. The judges are being encouraging to everyone, even to the ones being eliminated. No one is being being excessively harsh or frigid. This is a challenge that has parameters and specificity,, and someone has to be eliminated, so there is going to be some extreme feedback, and because it is a "reality show", there will be drama. The judges know these artists, and know what they are capable of, and since someone has to go at the end of each show, the there is no room for fluffy feedback. Spirituality requires honesty. and sometimes the facts hurt. I was emotional watching this, especially hearing the story from each person, but just because the story is compelling, does not mean it will translate through the artwork.

I disagree. They’re actually being nice in my opinion. Besides, artists need to have tough skin. If they can’t handle negative criticism how will they survive in the real Artist world. I love it when the judges give honest feedback. If they didn’t I wouldn’t be watching

I agree with you. They preach but don’t practice. How do they know that these artists were not giving themselves?
@azmgbbb Жыл бұрын
@@ivi122same goes for the judges. Only giving ❤ to people who praise them. The judges can learn from criticism also. Or maybe they can’t. Maybe they know all there is to know. Even when they contradict their own words.

I think that's an incredibly silly take. This is not art school. Yes, they are all former students but this is a competition that they all willingly signed up for. Don't conflate their past statements on art school with a competition.

I can’t believe it how girls are so TALENTED ❤️Naomi is my best 😆 analytical, but others girls just so touchable inside . I was picked the same paint- INCREDIBLE ballet flats in the tippy toes , girl with astronaut 👩🚀 very proportional with logic, girl with animals are hunting girls for a strong man 😆( dear , leopard, wolf with injured 🤕 eyes) girl with imagination is interesting ( without eyes, just leaps touching the sky ) hands is so hard to paint, one of the girl braved for tried .

I really love this show in concept. I feel that the judging style needs to be more mentoring and constructive if it’s going to benefit the artists and help them grow. The judges seems more harsh than curious. Artists are naturally their own worst critic we need people to call us higher not sow doubt. They are all beautiful and growing artists I hope they all get their chance.

The other thing is they are I believe painting with acrylic which I find difficult being an oil painter. Its hard to make it grow as it dries too fast

Would have been so much more interesting as one watcher wrote if we could see each picture by each artist. Other wise very c9nfusong, would have appreciated commentary regarding the paintings,

You guys need a writer on staff. "Turn in your overalls"? How bout "The work has been judged, time to paint over the canvas. Now get the xxxx out." ? Or.... "Red and blue makes purple. Yellow and blue makes green. You did your very best. But the results should not be seen. Now get the xxxx out." ? Or... "The life of an artist is hard. Some days are a hassle. You worked to create a masterpiece. Sadly, you're no Picasso. Now get the xxxx out."

I am getting annoyed by the challenges. Why not just allow each woman to paint and have the focus on the painting and not the stupid challenges
@katelynmariahvisionaryarti76196 ай бұрын
S2 was completely different. Much more emphasis on the art. They had mini challenges at the beginning of each episode and a main challenge and all of it went towards their score. Also a lot more diversity in how the artist ps expressed themselves. The episodes were longer too. I don’t like how this season feels already. John wasn’t one of the judges in S2 either and the woman were more thoughtful in their critiques.

A lot of criticism in the comments, not all of them fair. Even so, I think the first two seasons had much more substance. This one is rather contrived.

WHERE IS THE ACTUAL ART? People, we don’t watch this for the drama and promotion of this institute. We watch for the artistic process and to view art. Love the locale and overall subject.

OMG the tears - who ever is producing this show doesn't understand the divine role of artists.... we are here to change the world for the better, not here to do what everyone else is doing on TV that HARMS the world with drama and competition sensationalism. This level of intense competition only creates stress and tears. Is this really what we want to create. I understand pushing boundaries but there are so many better ways than this. I love the creative challenges, the artwork, the push to go beyond what was possible, the feedback but the competitive elimination, painting in the hot sun...why? How does that serve us as artists?
@Habück4 ай бұрын
Did not like that there were eliminations after round 1 already. Why not doing it like in the World Cup with the first eliminations occur after 3 rounds, but more than just 1 person has to go? So nobody would be THE last one and nobody would paint only 1 picture.

Again how terrible to put Al that girls all night in that tiny room. What á stupid way of challenging! And that women from the judges is so negative and awful. I Never agree with her and the way she gives her opinion is so arrogant. I think judging like this is so stupid! Really like the painting from the Dutch girl! Bold and á Very Good job! Don’t listen to that women! You where great! And I loved the painting of Naomi also her first one!
