You'll probably get bored of IT roles if you're on the computer at home AND at work. Don't forget the detrimental impact on your posture and eyesight. Make sure you're doing some sort of resistance training focused on the posterior chain so you don't end up with a hunchback, anterior pelvic tilt and pressure headaches. Also make sure everything is ergonomically setup for your proportions.

Interesting. I'm INTP, and for a few years I worked as a self-employed computer programmer/software developer. I sold my own games, so there was also entrepreneurship involved. Where I came unstuck was having to do my own customer support and replying to comments on software stores. That really sucked the fun out of it for me, and killed my enthusiasm for continuing with my own games. It only took one negative comment in the morning to kill my enthusiasm for the rest of the day. I found that the negative comments demotivated me much more than the positive comments motivated me.

I am an INTP. However, I have taken the wrong path. I became a civil engineer in a contractor company. My job is mostly coordinating with people, and it makes me extremely worn out. At some moment, I felt really depressed. Since 2 years ago, I really want to switch career to becoming a mathematics researcher or lecturer. I really love math. I consider subjects in math as beautiful artworks of great minds. I am a person who always want to explore a logical subject from its basic foundation to its highest development. I feel that engineering disciplines are not deep enough and dull in some sense. I am still trying my best to get into a post-grad program in math so that I could live my dream in the future.

I agree. I'm an INTP-T and work as a design engineer. However, I hate the fact that I have to rely on other people to give me information to do my job. I also hate the fact that I have to do things to fit in with somebody else's vision, rather than being able to fully express my own creativity. my first one was as a trainer, basically charity work. did that for some 4 ish years. I'm not a good motivator, but a very strict and thorough trainer with a talent for setting up the workout correctly. Basically good with people at age 13 and up. (in short no one was eager to go to my workouts, but it was that one they progressed the fastest by attending) After that i basically had a slew of random temporary positions for the next 14 years. All i wanted was to take my paycheck back home and do my own stuff, but that's not what society at large wanted. nono, they wanted to put young people through a mincer in order to keep people at minimum wages and in a state of forced expenditures to keep the whole generation poor. Now i am a chronically ill and bitter INTP that somehow managed to buy a cheap apartment through clever saving schemes and sheer dumb luck. I guess my mid thirties are gonna be my 'climb to power' arc, heh. I do plan to go into finance as an independent investor once i rack up enough funds, i just need to get rid of the loans i got first.

I too am an INTP female and am not interested in IT. I prefer a computer for research of whatever I am working on. What I find odd about my personality type is that I work very well with people but prefer to work and be alone. The drama people cause over simple situations drive me insane. Just get to the heart of what the problem that way you know what or who you need to remove. But instead they will go on and on, especially women, about the same problem over and over just complaining. Not once do the think that maybe solving the problem by taking action would cause the contentment in place of what they are complaining about. So, everyone within earshot has to go through it with them too whether they want to or not. Meanwhile nothing gets done but their lipstick getting wearn off by all the talking. Yeah, I like to work alone. LOL 😆

@doomedbook10202 жыл бұрын
I've been in gardening for the past 5 years (self employed). Love the differing challenges that each job represents and the 1 to 1 with customers. It also pays better here in the UK than most technical jobs that would require a degree. I'm thinking of retraining as an electrician for a salary boost and more reliable income through winter months and bad weather. Due to the increased electrification demands of the economy, I believe this is a perfect choice. Previous jobs include: IT network technician, warehouse operative, welder/fabricator, railway worker, etc. Was training to be an accountant but it was so boring and was surrounded by Muppets who had more sick days than working days. Interests include: psychology, economics, motorcycle mechanics and riding. Teaching myself algebra I despised at school with statistics and python programming for more potential career paths (possibly data science or programming).

As an INTP who works as an electrical engineering designer, I have to disagree with you somewhat. My job actually involves a lot of standards and regulations that have to be adhered to, as well as other people who insist on getting involved in my work. Therefore, I really don't enjoy it at all. The job is actually better suited to somebody who enjoys following strict regulations and checklists, and doing a lot of admin and paperwork. I think what's really lacking for an INTP in my job is the experimentation and research side of things. Being a scientist would probably suit me better.

@@phlobotonum3170 I'm a strong INTP, still in college but through personal self reflection i switched paths away from pre med and towards graduate psychology work as I feel it fits my dispositions better and I wouldnt enjoy being so restricted and methodical working within the medical model as a psychiatrist. @@tunnelman5756 How do you get out of that self reflection phase? Like I've been stuck in it for years. I can't trust my head or my heart when it comes to what I truly want to do in life. So I'm still doubting about taking medicine when it's one of the few things I find interesting.
@tunnelman57562 жыл бұрын
@@phlobotonum3170 reflecting on my career has been a constant process since hs. I went from compsci to pre med because I felt like clinical work would be much more full filling and meaningful to me, but comparing the work required for pre med to the ideal work for my personality and passion I found being a researcher and psychological practitioner would be both full filling, helpful to the world, and something I'm passionate about. If you are passionate about medicine above all other careers then I would probably try to stick with it. Although being a doctor is methodical and somewhat restrictive you will thrive if you maintain your passion and you will be able to let your creative side show in a lot of ways. Finally, I chose neuroscience because I identified my passions more specifically as a curiousity towards the essence of things (philosophy) and the complexity of the human mind (psychology) and wanted to bridge the gap between neural states and well-being/mood. This was specific to me and you must introspect to find what is specific to you. Try many things, research career paths on your own and trust the process. This took years for me but I now feel confident in my decision. Give it some time and best of luck to you

I'm an intp who's bad at math and does not know much about computers (Just the basic stuff yk), but i have a wonderful Memory, i could read 10 Pages of a law book (example) and memorize them in like 5 minutes; people usually told me that i could be a wonderful lawyer because of my skills in debates and analysis, could law be a good career for me? Even tho i'm an intp? (I made the mbti test 3 times and everytime intp came out)
