I've been doing things in Blender for about 3 weeks or a month now and I've never used any addons. I recently enabled the VR addon so I could use my Oculus in the 3d viewport. It's pretty awesome. I've needed Cablerator, so I'm really excited to see what I can do with that. I'm hoping it will make building these cars a little better.

My advice: Buy the hard Ops / Boxcutter ultimate bundle if you're serious about hard surface modeling and can't afford to buy multiple addons. Hard Ops alone is far more feature rich than Meshmachine, but when you consider the fact that you can get Hard Ops _and_ Boxcutter for less than you'd pay for Meshmachine, then the choice becomes even more obvious.

Aaaaaahhh ya already got me to get most of these lol. Still thanks for the upload, haven't even heard of shipwright and one other before. I'm sure you've seen the upcoming SYNTH. Shipwright, once SYNTH is out (Chip, lol if you're reading, gimmie!) will be a game changer to add to my workflow. Plus some newer users might not know about the free built in ones. I've slowed down a bit with rendering and am starting with learning on cg cookie to expand my hard surface skills. Kitops blew my mind, cablerator made me throw my hands up in the air when I seen your video for it, and fluent just sealed the deal for me. I love nature scenes but I can do those fairly well now, and I didn't want to get stuck just making the same things. Intuition kicked in with kitops2 pro, and cablerator with fluent opened me up to a whole new area I had no idea I loved. I've been on the fence with a few others but this video might of convinced me, especially decal machine. I just don't like how some addon hotkeys mess around with others so I take the "if it's working, don't break it" approach lol. Just takes time to learn properly, but true failure is manufactured in our minds. You just don't quit, ever. I can't wait to see your video on SYNTH once it's out. I gotta stop watching Chip's videos on it or I may pass out lol

@SVI_graphics3 жыл бұрын
Be very carefull when using this addons, they are really good, but if you don't know the basics of good topology or good uvs don't focus on using the addons. The last thing you want is to have a good porfolio but no Idea about technical stuff. Think if your 3d model would perfom good outside of blender, if it does then you are good to go, but if it only works inside of blender then you are overusing the software tools.
@MrRoboticeyes3 жыл бұрын
I'm interested in some of this but don't know which one to buy. What's the difference between hops, boxcutter, fluent, and mesh machine? Also which one is better decal machine or kit ops?
@Dave_AI3 жыл бұрын
The Hard Ops / Boxcutter bundle is by far the best suite of hard surface tools you can buy, period. It's not even close. Fluent is fantastic for beginners - being far more simple to use - but doesn't have half the features of Hard Ops. Mesh Machine is pretty good, but you can get the Hard Ops / Boxcutter bundle for less money. Like Fluent, Mesh Machine has a fraction of the tools, and is more expensive to boot. Decal Machine and Kit Ops are harder to compare, because they do different things. If you're planning to do low poly / Game assets, Decal Machine is the way to go, but if you don't care about poly count, I'd probably go for Kit Ops. One last thing.....there is a free version of Kit Ops you can download if you want. You just need to google it. Hope that helps!

seems like a lot of these 'add-on' videos are for promo purposes and 'affiliate links' that are paid. blender's becoming just a 'base' that's open source, but if anything productive is wanted, you have to spend 3 or 4 hundred dollars for 'add-ons' to get functionality that's optimized and useful to those who are new to it. good concept, but not so 'free and open source' anymore

I'm studying Blender, from absolute zero. But i already knows how to do a thing: A square. I can easily teach you this. Two clicks on desktop Blender icon to open Blender, and "voi'la", you created your first square! Now, you are a skilled 3d artist just like me, creating futuristic squares on infinite sci-fi spaces. Your next step: Hollywood! Wow! I'll link my portfolio here, to show all my brilliant work to audiences. thousands of different squares in different colors. Theres no people in the world more talented than me. Hoar! Now... Talking seriously: I would like to understand, how to tweak that clean model visual when inserting it in real footage. No matter how talented you are modeling, you can create a beautifull complex Optimus Prime. Looks perfect in Blender, always. But... when you export the model to a real footage, it looks like a clean robber toy. wtf... i hate this. I would like to understand Ultron, for example: Looks like he is really there, in the real scene... Looks real, and not just a badly done model in the scene. Looks like he is really there. All the lights on him... How to do this realistic effect after importing a model to a real scene?? There's some specific tecnic i must study?
