Just stumbled upon this. The fact that a MINI was included in your list speaks to the merits of the car. The 2005-06 MINIs were the best. There are more than a few videos out there featuring fabulous garages full of supercars that include a MINI, and there's a reason for that: drivers get it.

Just came from your newest video saying you've gone full time. I had no idea you had a R53 GP. Having driven and experienced way more cars now, I wonder what you think of them now. The GP vs the 147 GTA might be an interesting comparison.

Ah, revisiting this, you said "one of the best FWD hatches' back then, thoughts on that now? I bumped into you when you were filming at Beachy Head that day, I was in my Caterham. GP1 owner myself now too!

I've just purchased this exact GP number 0786:) The wheels are being refurbished, the front bumper resprayed and one slight dent removed. After which it should be extremely clean. Very low mileage on this car to boot. I enjoyed the videos thanks. Only realised it was this exact car earlier!!

That's cool Josh! The guy who I sold it to did not keep it long then... Great cars. Good to know you've got it!

+Number27 Yeah I'm not sure what that's all about, looks like he had it for literally a couple of months. I believe he needed the money for a mortgage deal or something. Did make me think it was the car, but I went over it and everything seemed as expected so perhaps that really was the case! I'm only in the Worthing area so the car hasn't travelled too far 👍 Funnily enough it was your videos that encouraged me to take another look at the market for a GP. Weird that the car I would buy is this exact one!!

Hey number 27, subd. You said at the end what I was thinking, get out of town and do some proper driving, maybe a trackday in them and show us videos of you working on the cars if you do. All good content! 👍

Good start! Shame about the brakes. I'd be interested to know how much you got for the M3 & then put into the Mini? Are you making a profit, breaking even or a loss?

Hey George, thanks for the nice comment! Do love this car. The cars will cost different amounts, £14k is top whack but some will be quite a bit less and I'm not aiming to trade up and make money as such. Just about owning the cars for a while and hopefully not loosing any money.

Great video. Do you have a better camera at all? The quality is quite bad (as I'm sure you know!)

+Max Williams Hey Max.. thanks for the compliment! its not so much the camera as the quality of the you tube upload.. will always be a compromise!

I own a GP, and I totally disagree with you gear knob opinion. When I bought it, the car still had the standard round knob, and believe me it was a nightmare, too big, never figured out how to grab it properly. Then I upgraded for the JCW knob like the one you have, and it was a major improvment.

I never tried the standard one so i'll take your word for it Bigleux!

I saw your post on lotusforum. Funny I went the other way, had an Esprit for 2 years, now the GP since 2 years ;)

I have a GP1 and have had a few other first Gen Cooper S. The gearbox is really notchy. You get used to it, but it really does slow down the shifts and take some getting used to. The GP1 came with the JCW shift knob. It's ok, I guess. I think the designers wanted us to hold it like a pistol grip, but I find myself grabbing it from the top. Not a great design but not bad enough to change it out.
