Yep. And, Clemson also made their paw logo unique by cutting out a little "squiggle" in the bottom right "corner" (if you will). Most people don't know why. I've heard people surmise it's the Tyger river. Nope. It's simply something Clemson designed AND protected with a trademark. Obviously, there's lots & LOTS of schools across the country (from elementary, junior high, high schools and other colleges and universities), as well as other athletic entities that have animal nicknames that seek to use a simple paw logo instead of paying for a more expensive and more complicated design. Well, it doesn't happen that much any more... buuuuttt.... back in the day those that thought they could simply copy and lift Clemson's logo were in for a surprise when Clemson discovered their usage. They were guilty of trademark infringement and wore forced to pay Clemson a sum of money & give up their usage of Clemson's unique logo. Today, this trademark doesn't prevent all from going the simple paw route, but it does discourage it a lot, and it DOES discourage anyone from using the EXACT same paw design.

John Cooper The reason the looks the way it does is because it’s a paw print of an actual tiger. They took the print from a stuffed tiger that’s displayed in a museum in Chicago.

@@williamburke6425 Yeah, that may be it's origin in a strictly literal standpoint, but Clemson intentionally chose to NOT color in the "squiggle" to make the paw's bottom corner "solid" for the trademark reason I detailed above. All other "paw logos" have to have either a different shape or design altogether, or if they opt to use the shape utilized by Clemson, they need to make sure it's solid and doesn't contain the unique squiggle that Clemson trademarked into their logo.

The Steelers logo is the Steelmark logo from the American Iron & Steel Institute to promote the US steel industry, only changing the word "Steel" to "Steelers." It's not really a "hidden" meaning.
