Love the video of you two! I learned a lot and love the house you shot the video in! ;)

Really fun video! To be fair, the whole premise of that Agrippina production is that the Roman empire never ended, so maybe army/navy uniforms evolved differently in that timeline:D I love those Agrippina and Doctor Atomic performances so much (and the stagings too).

I LOVED both of them as well!! I feel like costumes can be overlooked quickly but if it's a way to bring in more public by shedding some light on it then why not? 🙏

@@operaanna Of course! And any reason to upload a fun video about opera is a good reason, really.

This is really interesting. You should do one with police officers. I write crime fiction and one of my characters is an opera loving cop.

I also find it super interesting - I wish I could show everything we talked about, but it would've been so long! Sounds like a cool character btw :)

@operaanna Thanks. Yes I think he is, if I may say so myself. I shed tears and blood creating him. If I ever manage to get a novel published, I'll send you a copy.

Why can't they do traditional opera productions? They are more interesting and captivating for the general public, they are more faithful to the work of composers, and they wouldn't have to make mistakes like in these cases

Good question... To be fair, Doctor Atomic is supposed to be in WW2, but it's also the only one based on an actual person and the only one that was pretty much perfect! 😅 It's hard to fault them for wanting to make it more relatable, but then you actually need to do your homework. Especially at the MET...

@@operaanna I understand when people say that each production has or seeks to express different values, or even provoke, but this is Opera and I wonder if these things are really for the good, the latest generation singers are almost unreachable by current generation standards, As a student I will just try to improve and learn more and more :D

@@gualtiermalde645 What do you mean by that the latest generation of singers is almost unreachable? In terms of skill?
@gualtiermalde6452 жыл бұрын
@@operaanna I would say maybe in terms of material, expression, personality, Luciano Pavarotti once said that singers today are well prepared but that probably wouldn't have the artistic and personal qualities of singers of the past, also in terms of vocal material... "È abbastanza più uguale"
