Melissa, thank you for this channel, I love it, but one correction...the white film on blueberries and grapes is not the pesticide. This is a completely natural coating produced by the fruit itself called "bloom". It helps protect the fruit from pests and moisture loss. You will see bloom on organic fruit too. And I cannot bring myself to eat eggplant. 🤢

Excellent video and so useful! My least favorite veg: Brussels sprouts. When I think of cleaning fruits & veg's, I think of actual dirt too, not just pesticides, since dirt (soil) is where produce would pick up bacteria like E. coli or C. diff. I saw some research where the veggie that needs the most washing re: soil is lettuce, especially leaf lettuces or "spring mix," because lettuce is right down in the soil and there are so many folds and frills with lettuce that it's hard to fully rinse it. I've also had to rinse spinach multiple times to remove sand. ... and now I'm hungry for a nice salad, LOL! Thanks Melissa!

I’m surprised you didn’t mention that it is better to choose organic versions of the dirty dozen, as opposed to using so many methods to clean them. My understanding of the growing process of the dirty dozen is that so many pesticides and other chemicals are used during the whole process that washing NON organic produce wouldn’t help. I may have to check the FDA site or the EPA for clarification.

Not a joke or a troll, honestly why so we actually need to clean these fruits? I have been eating these my whole life (38 yrs old) and never washed my fruit. Why is it bad eating fruit without washing them? What will it do to me eating them without washing them?

Besides the presence of film on many fruits, it also the handling of produce. Have you been to the grocery store as they’re putting produce away? Look at the crates they’re removing the produce from. Or when some drops produce on the floor. Also, some people like me may have a negative reaction to the fils on foods.

Vegetable I don't like Olives When I was 4, I ate an olive thinking it was a grape. I've been traumatized ever since.

Melissa, I love your channel. You keep it real. Eggplant is absolutely disgusting. I also dislike cooked mushrooms. Why someone would put slimy mushrooms on a perfectly cooked steak is beyond me. Keep it coming.

I guess I'm the yang to your ying😂 I love mushrooms, cooked or not. And I keep meaning to incorporate more eggplant in my meals. Send what you don't use😉

Looks like we've found the perfect food balance - you take the mushrooms, I'll take the eggplants!
