First time negotiating Andrew and I followed all your suggestions. It resulted in $18k more than the initial base salary they offered, extra 2 weeks of vacation, 90% tuition reimbursement/career development, senior title/role, 10% annual bonus. I'm still in disbelief reading my confirmation letter Thanks for all the value you provide Andrew!!!!!!!!!!

When should you throw in the towel? When you walk out of the interview. 🤣 They’re supposed to contact you, not the other way around. I’ve realized I can’t get attached to opportunities because there are so many factors out of my control that I just devastate myself emotionally by expecting to be contacted.

What about companies which advertise the same job for 6 months or longer? Are they have a very high turnover rate? This 2 companies did just that Sketches and Best Choices Products. I went thru 3 months interview process, they are still advertising the jobs 7 months later
@andylacivita2 жыл бұрын
Usually, companies that have posts up for a long time leave them up indefinitely Because they’re always on the lookout for people with those skills. That does not mean they have a high turnover.

About the Salary part. What if you have just a couple of interviews. I just received a new job offer but the process was one contact phone call from company recruiter, a videocall with the supervisor, and another call from the recruiter. I replied with a counteroffer exposing the goals of the role and my intention to exceed them based on my past results. crossed fingers!
@victorbravoleal815 Жыл бұрын
@andylacivita LOL, Recruiter replied saying my counteroffer was outside the terms we discussed initially which was the basis of all our subsequent advance in the process. I told her in our first conversation my salary expectations were between X and Y and now, that the role objectives are clearer, I asked for let's say 0.95Y (they offered me 0.87Y). I think she didn't escalate the counteroffer. what do I do nooow!! 🥲

How do you feel about glassdoor salary range on posted open position? I applied to job and range was up to 110k and after the HR interview, couple days later after I gave them my salary requirement, they increased the range another 20k.... so technically I could have asked for more.... I feel jipped.... mislead.

@karentaylorsmells3 жыл бұрын
Andy, why would a company advertise a role and then not look at any applications?
@andylacivita3 жыл бұрын
There are sooooo many reasons. First, they might have an internal candidate. Second, they might simply want the job description available for their executive recruitment firms to be able to share. Third, they might be a company which is required by law to publicly post all their positions. These are a few reasons.

?? Does it matter if negotiating is over phone or documented in email? I had initial HR ask an HR manager to get more vacation, but still trying to say despite years experience have to start at bottom. What do I do?
@tanyamolina37879 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew I’ve got a question. What does it mean when the interviewer does most of the talking and explaining what the position is all about and doesn’t ask interview questions to the interviewee? Would it be safe to assume that the interviewer doesn’t have good interview skills?
@andylacivita9 ай бұрын
Tanya. First, you MUST come to live show February 21. I’m covering this exact scenario. Second, much of the time, when the recruiter is sharing a lot of information, they want to make sure you understand the position. They are also likely trying to sell you in the company.
@tanyamolina37879 ай бұрын
@@andylacivita thank you for your reply. It was actually the hiring manager that was sharing all the information about the position and never once asked me any interview questions and neither did the assistant manager who was in the room. He did ask me one question, which was if I was comfortable with coaching and of course I said yes and gave a reason why. And then, of course, he asked me if I had any questions for him. in which I asked him three questions, of which one of them was the big question that you talk. These types of interviews blindsides me, as I go in prepared and ready to answer tons of interview questions.
