you said "how do they do it" One of the strategies I've seen people do is the closed fist method, your fist is too big for the crab to latch onto, to see if it's there. Then you fuck around and try get its back legs slowly. But that terrifys me and I've never tried it :P haha

Hey Luke Try using chicken frames, wrap them in gutter guard and then put them in the crab pot or my dad also likes to use tuna heads cut down the middle and wired half into your pot. Try and leave your pot 24hours. Remember the QLD rules on crabbing. Good luck Luke and let me know if you try our suggestions. 🤙🏻

Little tip for ya mate. Chuck a plastic plate or bucket lid at the bottom of your bait holder then bait on top. So if your pot isn't sitting flush on the bottom stops crabs picking at it from underneath and draws them into the pot.

Ye mate love ur vid. I do a lot of bone collecting bones and yeah from what footage I saw it looked like a hip of what looks like a turtle. And yeah putting ur hands in muddy holes is very sketchy. Where i live in Brisbane, I get my hands down holes and I tend to keep my hand inside the mud and feel around. Where u are in Cambera looks good fun and there are muddys ever where in all landscape. You will find on in the middle of nowhere on the flats. Keep going mate love ya. You will get the barra soon i tell yah.

I’ve lived here my whole life and can safe cairns for crabbing and fishing the rivers can be hard but the tip I have for catching mud crabs is try getting your pots in small drains that come out of a larger river. Give Daintree river a go you will have a good chance of catching a few 👍🍻 good luck mate, love your videos

Make yourself a crab hook. Just get some 3 to 5mm round stock and bend a hook into it. It help’s actually finding crabs in holes and hooking around there claw to drag them out 🤙🏼 congrats Luke 🍻

i like mudcrab, but ussually used pot to get them. i heard if you want to search for crab, check if the active hole with some shell or something that consider for them food, try to get a rod with the end have U for you to pull them our of the hole.. respect for you to do this things everyday, really makes me want to do it but i cant go to muddy or mangrove area coz im using walker to walk.. =(

Luke, with your bait in the crab pot either zip tie or wire it in the middle of the pot so that when it’s submerged it floats otherwise the crabs can reach in and take your bait

Luke their claws don't break easy they detach them like a skinks tail. Like if a bird grabs it's claw the crab detaches it's claws. It doesn't harm them they do it on purpose to survive but the but crabs do struggle without at least 1 claw.
