01:03 Hello, it is not true that the everyday Chinese are travelling on these old school trains which you somehow sadly described them as "low class". The majority travel on High Speed Rail, not old school trains. Obviously, you know that, but you shouldn't say everyday Chinese travel on these trains as people travel for all kinds of reasons. For example, on certain routes, just like going to various city via air flight, some of the major airlines don't fly there as they may not be big cities or the most popular destinations so people may travel on budget airlines. Similarly, for trains, HSR may not stop or even travel to these cities which may be small towns as HSR cannot have too many stops. Get it? As for you, you claimed that you are traveling for the "challenge" or "adventure", and not because you cannot afford it. Many of the people traveling on the old school trains can indeed afford the HSR although the great government of China also use these old school trains to help the poorer people of the population, even allowing some to carry produce so that they can sell in the more prosperous cities or towns. Yeah... great. So, it is not low class vs high class. If you want to travel high class, travel on Business Class on HSR in China, not First Class. So, while you are nice people, use your words properly as you may inadvertently offend some people. Of course, there is nothing wrong even if it is the so-called low class. You guys don't look like snobs. However, traveling on low class and showing the videos may give the wrong impressions of China as most people don't travel on these old school trains simply because the HSR is so affordable, isn't it. Like so many foreign vloggers, always going to the low end food street outlets as they are mostly budget travelers (not low class), it also gives the impression that there is only street food in China which is not true. In the first place, a lot of so-called street food in China is not street food since they are sold in small outlets in buildings or are just from small restaurants. Unlike in South East Asia, there are more street food simply because of the weather. You should endeavor to show more of the high end upmarket stuff if you can afford it because many of the audience want to visit China and enjoy the luxury and upmarket shopping and fine dining there. That way, we can learn more from you and you can cater to a wider audience. Thanks again for your wonderful videos. 😘😍🥰
Jack got a strong capability of fitting himeself in various environments and situations! I love his easygoing, initiative, and candid characters. These are what a travel vloger should possess!

The "strange thing" you eat is called betel nut. People in Hunan and Taiwan like to eat it. It is similar to chewing gum in terms of function and eating method. You need to spit it out after chewing it. It is extremely difficult to find something that can really make you "high" in China, because China is the country with the strongest drug control in the world.
@jz405715 күн бұрын
But to people who are having it for the first time, it definitely gives you a high, sorta like smoking cigarettes for the first time.

Hii the algorithm just pushed this video to me yesterday and i almost immediately fell in love with your guys' channel! As a 2nd gen chinese-australian, I've always longed to see more of China and your videos help me learn that much more. Also, thank you for being so open minded and humble and kind when interacting with locals - in this video and in previous ones (and future ones I'm sure). It's weird to thank someone for basic etiquette and friendliness, i know, but especially in this day and age and with the thick stigma of anything "china" related, such small actions are truly huge acts of generosity. You both have lovely personalities and a charming chemistry and makes me feel like i'm right there along side you guys as you travel. Wishing you more safe and happy travels!

Standing tickets are also called non-fixed seat tickets. You can sit down as long as there is a vacant seat. Don't make it so hard on yourself next time.😂😂😂Actually, I think few people buy standing tickets for trains that take more than two hours.😅

Mate you are in the wrong line of work, there is a few places that employ people like you, all with letters. Holding a conversation quick paced understanding and being fluent in Chinese is no easy feat, i don't even think you understand what an amazing accomplishment it is. I really want to try the betel nut, oddly enough had a feeling it was some sort of drug when he first referred to it as Ice as there is also a Shisha tobacco called Ice. Finally i don't think anyone would have minded if you sat down, you should have had Paige sitting though.

it's called "binlang", betel nut is chewed, not eaten. It is a traditional Chinese medicine, a substance that makes people excited, but it is not harmful if you don't use it for a long time. so don't worry. Most Chinese people regard it as something similar to cigarettes, and only a few people like it.
