A good helper makes the job run a lot smoother. It's easy to tell that these two have worked together for a while. They know each other's moves well. Great teamwork.

Love these people who say why not use an automatic or orbital welder. A good welder can weld much quicker than the time it takes to set those things up. I worked in a place that bought one for stainless steel tube. Magnificent machine. Sat in the corner unused for years. We could do 8 butts a day and the machine about 4.

As being self employed I find people who just dont work hard put more importance on cellphones than on working. Has more to do with character than skin color. Ethical behavior vs no work ethics.

If their mail man is like mine, he's always on the cell phone too. I can hear him coming 3 doors down the street. Mail in wrong box sometimes. Overlooks pick ups even when the flag is up. Dropped mail laying in the yard, etc. But Affirmative Action says we have to have these guys.

What sized rod does this get capped with. I was wondering does the smaller pipe like 4 to 8 inch get capped with 3/16 or 5/32

Most likely a 3/32 if hes using a 1/8 rod for the root

@@Hardstyler981 yeah, theyre banned on most sites have been for a few years. Too many people were getting bristles fling out of them and end up in their eyes or getting hands caught up in them and chewing their hands up. Is a PITA as brushing up by hand takes far too long😒

isnt flux core cancerous? one doesnt use ppe that sucks. one is guided by avoidance of pain short term and one is guided by ease of use short term too. These nuggets of wisdom, if anyone is smart out there that reads this, will help you in your product design journey. it is the secret sauce that steve jobs used.

* Firefox. I’d say 6010 5p+. That’s the most common. They came out with a new one Its pipeliner 6010 6p+ Its pretty smooth

Ok, Thanks ....I will try the 6010 rods , theirs so much arc sparks with that 6013 spatter beads & smoke ...lot of clean up on pipe root passes with the old 6013.....Ok, appreciate the info. drummerguy676

@@firefox2716 it depends on the grade of pipe. If it was Gr.483 (x70) 8010G bead and hot pass most likely under that 6010 5p+ and 7010G HYP

I'm sure you could get a little fan and make the base of it magnetic. Im sure that'd work. That or a PAPR which would sure help a lot with that xx10 fume plume.

So true about that fan i was a helper with my cousin who has been welding way b4 i was born he died from bone cancer and never smoked a cigarette in his life that welding fumes is deadly.

Did this in the Early 80's. You should see the fire department show up. When we would bleed down the section for repairs. As them 40" natural gas lines can make some jet engine sounds and shake the ground...

What is the difference between soldering and welding? Both are used to join two metal ends, i am confused.

Soldering you're using a filler metal to join two pieces. Welding you're using the two base metals and the electrode itself to fuse them together.

Soldering is also more electrical based. You might be referring to brazing? But it's a dieing art and mostly only used on copper
