Ask any Wildland fire fighter if they'd buy an electric chainsaw........Excalty. Although not meant for work on the fire line. I find this 12" saw amzazing at doing 90% of what I need to do.

The new dccs623 8” pruning chainsaw is pretty sweet! I also use the 16” flex volt chainsaw, & the dcps620 pole chainsaw. All this from a diehard Stihl chainsaw user for over 35 years. The battery saws do have a place for the homeowners.

I have the 20v 12" like your saw and I also bought the 60v 16"and upgraded it to the 18" both saws are amazing and I work for a tree service so they get used. I also have a Milwaukee m12 reciprocating saw and I tried the big blade on it and it done ok. It's definitely not a replacement for the dewalt 12" saw. I also put an Oregon 14" bar and chain on it and it became a better saw and plenty of power. I probably use it more than the 60v. LOL just thought I would share this with you. Hope it helps.

With the little girl you did a great job .... I'm seriously thinking about it. I was also evaluating some competition with power at 40 v or higher but, I see that then all related industries including batteries have a much higher cost. Congratulations for the review.

Long time viewer-don't comment much but I added a Makita 10" to my repertoire this year as a truck saw, (don't generally keep a full sized saw with gas in the truck); but this baby is small enough to live under the seat and works in a bind. I find myself using it regularly over a gas saw for trail work clearing, too. I love the modified bag. Thanks for that.

I have the 20v dewalt small one handed reciprocating saw. I can fall 8 inch trees with only 6 inch blade pretty effortlessly in seconds. There is even a 2 inch larger blade I haven't even got to yet, as well smaller. Tool is Small in size and light, yet incredibly powerful and smooth. Optional blades to even cut cast iron Rebar or concrete. I think you sold me on this 12inch over the 16 so I hope I returned the favour

I have the Ryobi 12". Love the light weight, compactness and easy start/stop. Use it for limbing and then go to my echo 28" for the bigger stuff. I have a recip with a long pruning blade, but it's slower and rougher on the wrists.

I got a12" chains and was not able to get the 9Ah MAX 20 20 volt Batteries as everyone was sold out so I got the 12Ah 60v/20v Flexvolt batteries that will work in both the 16" 60V Chainsaw and the 12" 20V Chainsaw. I am also using Canola Oil to lubricate the Blade. The Chainsaw works very well and seems to have quite a bit of power. The only downside is that it is a pain to clean up.

Just learnt how to field strip and reassemble mine. Manual and online articles say that cooking oil can be used and better for environment. Left sitting idle for a long time. And when went to use found no lubrication. When opened case discovered oil lines full of a viscous black sticky mess. Oil pump seized at bottom of travel. Maybe vegetable oil reacted with the metal anti kink coils in oil line. Or just turned fully rancid. All cleaned up and pumping oil again. And will stick with petroleum oils from now on.

I've used canola oil for lube without issue....maybe since that oil is derived from a seed, less chance of it spoiling and gunning up

Hackzall would be too small for your needs. I've used it at home to cut some branches up etc. It is alittle slow cutting with a Diablo pruning blade. It gets it done but not fast at all

I would think a reciprocating saw would make a terrible pruning saw. They generally don't have the stroke length necessary to clear chips from the kerf very effectively.

I just purchased a 20 in DeWalt on Amazon today. We are clearing out four acres of mesquite and I have been using my DeWalt 20 V reciprocating saw with the pruner blades and I've been wearing the s*** out of my DeWalt cordless reciprocating saw. Time to step up to the next level. I just do not want to use my gas powered chainsaws. Our shoulders are not what they used to be when I was younger. The gas powered chainsaws will be used as backup for bigger trees.

Definately not, the Sawal blade just doesn't work the same. You're better with a big pruning saw. Funny thing I started with the small saw and got bigger and bigger. Now you tell me to go back to the small saw. So yes, maybe I will. It's nice to be able to one hand overhead. Tool tip. The oscillating tool is the best root cutter you'll ever find. It doesn't care about the dirt.
@nettle99
@nettle99 5 ай бұрын
oscillating tool for roots with what type of blade?? I'm asking cause i've always used sawzall (reciprocating saws) for roots cause you can get blades for fairly cheap, long ones too, and the dirt doesn't ruin the blades quickly. Are there long oscillating tool blades that i'm not aware of? I do trail work and build fences in the pnw and we have large douglas fir roots here.
