Excellent video.. but these are rules 4 and 8. Here's a list of JP's 12 rules. Rule 1 Stand up straight with your shoulders back Rule 2 Treat yourself like you would someone you are responsible for helping Rule 3 Make friends with people who want the best for you Rule 4 Compare yourself with who you were yesterday, not with who someone else is today Rule 5 Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them Rule 6 Set your house in perfect order before you criticise the world Rule 7 Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient) Rule 8 Tell the truth - or, at least, don’t lie Rule 9 Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t Rule 10 Be precise in your speech Rule 11 Do not bother children when they are skate-boarding Rule 12 Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street

Alpha Weeb I started paying more attention to how I felt after I played because no matter what happens in the game or how long I played I was no different or better than where I was before. I often would play instead of dealing with shit or to escape anxiety but everything would come back to exactly where I was before I played. Do some research on mindfulness meditation because Ive often used and continue to use games as an escape but being conscientious about my feelings and motives have helped reduce how much I play and do a lot more productive things. You got it man just trust yourself

I ain't a game addict no more! It will take you some time, but it is worthed..

I support the idea of looking at yourself for better understanding and not to compare yourself with the others, but if it's all about achieving a better version of myself just to avoid sadness in my life it's way easier to by try and error to mimic successful people. And a lot of people go this way, because it's a shortcut, a risky one but some people will succeed. Rule No1 works well until you start ageing and physically and later mentally your performance is no longer that good besides your ability to learn new things and tricks gradually diminishes. Ageing people that don't understand that and are stubborn ones start making waves and block younger generations from prosperity - what we see happening in the West by the way. So my Rule No1 is: REMAIN HUMBLE. Being a developer and becoming a CEO are not different career paths. Most of CEOs in software companies happens to be top tier developers as well - these people happens to have some extra interpersonal skills that allow them to engage in management.

@Narrator: I’d like to offer you a small correction, if I may. I feel like you have misread - or at least misrepresented - Dr. Peterson’s anecdote about how he confronted his neighbor in Rule #8. I have listened to his 12 rules book over audible multiple times and so I recall quite clearly that in the anecdote about Dennis his biker neighbor who had told JP that he wanted to quit drinking but would then show up in the middle of night to try to sell him his household appliances to get some money to buy more alcohol when he was already drunk, Dr. Peterson was trying to illustrate the need to FIRST find in your soul what the truth IS and then to rid yourself of any judgement toward the other person etc., and aim for the highest good. In fact in his telling (which is why I feel like your video missed this crucial point) Peterson says that he rid himself of all the “class difference” let’s say, between them both and spoke to him forthrightly about the fact that Dennis had told him he wanted to quit drinking and that it wasn’t right for him to continue to give him money. He then told him that he made Tammy - who he respected - nervous when he showed up like this at night. Peterson didn’t get confrontational in the way your interpretation makes it out to be, nor does he suggest we get confrontational but rather *speak the truth for the greater good* so to speak. I hope this is helpful. 🙏🏼😇
