-Every man must serve his country for 10 years, and every woman must serve for 7. Guys lucky enough to get into university and get a bachelor’s degree are allowed to serve for 5 years after graduation.
-The Worker-Peasant Red Guards has somewhere between 1.5 and 6 million reservists. There are also teenage soldiers.
-North Korean soldiers go through hard military training on raw corn kernels or a few potatoes a day. Many soldiers pass away from hunger and related health conditions.
-According to former soldiers, the boots they wear in cold winter months are thin and stuffed with cotton for reasons of economy.
-During their 7 years of compulsory military service, many women fall victim to sexual violence or humiliation.
-Kim Jong-un forced his army to throw landmines into the Yellow Sea, which would resurface in South Korea and kill locals and tourists.
-If some North Korean soldiers refuse to support violence, their army commanders are working to change that. They spend about 60% of their time learning the “right” ideology.
-When interviewed, former soldiers described how they had to pay for their treatment, and, even when they did, all they got was alcohol rubbed on them.
-Personalities often shift so greatly that there’s nothing that can bring things back to normal.
-Kim Jong-un doesn’t approve of defection, especially when soldiers try to flee the country. Running away abroad often seems like the only route to safety.
-The US has around 72 submarines, and North Korea has somewhere between 70 and 75.
-Official government reports say 15.8%, but many experts agree it must be at least 38%.

In general; all of North Korean Citizens are malnurished (except party officials). Not just the army. Would make more sense to want to keep your soldiers happy. So what that they have a 1 mil + army and reservists, If they are malnurished like that they would not be able to handle themselves in a conventional war.

They don't expect to have a powerful army, it's just a show force to appear strong, but it's well documented that their army and cavalry are incapable to modern conventional warfare. They really only have an abundance of infantryman but, are poorly equipped, poorly trained and ofcourse are not adequately fed enough for stamina on long distance manoeuvres. They are already half famished so defeating them would be a breeze because their navy cannot stand up to a modern naval power and the country would be bombarded from all directions from the sea as North Korea's geography is an extreme natural vulnerability and most of its cities are near the cost and the inland cities furthest from the coast could be reached from both sides by bombing runs and naval bombardment. Troops on the ground wouldn't even be necessary by that point. That's why Korea are determined to build nukes with delivery capabilities, as a buffer to invasion, to be taken seriously on the world stage and in my opinion to take themselves out in self destruction contingency to losing a war.

Woman wear diffrent shoes than men, Daintier shoes... but low quality so they tend to fly off.... its basically salf-made straps. buildt in straps will cost more and is moe expensive, and most can not afford strappy shoes... and the shoes they get in the army they dont buy themselfs, its their given uniform, and they have what they are given, cheap strapless shoes, so they make their own straps.

Having serve 4 years in South Korea, I noticed that may of your photos were of the South Korean Military. Another interesting fact, North Korea has more artillery then the US has world wide. Also, that its not uncommon to see the "citizens" eating grass because there isn't enough food.

They can't lol Such things require overseas partners of which they don't have due to embargoes. They also can't just stop spending on the military, or else South Korea, China or even the USA could invade them (See Saddam Hussein) and they'd be caught without a means of defence. The ROK (south korea) also spends a fair bit on defence budget and have conscription, the difference is that the ROK Is much more prosperous due to international trade and recognition, of which North Korea never got due to it being cOmMuNiSt aNd EvIl, which means instead of assisting them while making money, North korea is sort've stuck this way where they can't stop military spending but also they don't have the trade to make more money

Spent some time there including on the DMZ. There is really no comparison. But if you were being obnoxiously tongue-and-cheek I get it.
