Yeonmi, the first time I ever saw you was when you stood before world leaders as a little girl. You told your story and shook the whole Earth. Though I have been a well trained US Army soldier, Police Officer and Fire Fighter, you had me crying like a baby. Like many people, we really had no idea how bad things are in North Korea. Today, I see you as a lovely young woman with an incredible life ahead of you. You could have chosen to disappear into America. You could have remained hidden, always looking over your shoulder and living in the fear that one day North Korean agents would find you and take you back, but you didn't. You have stood strong and proud as a voice for North Korea. You have exposed the truth to the entire world and at 55 years old I have to hold back the tears just to make it through one of your videos. You are the bravest and most amazing person I think I have ever seen with my own two eyes. Keep doing exactally what you are doing because you are more effective than all of the political leaders put together from every nation. You may think of yourself as small and petite and even useless at times but you are so much more than that. You are a Giant. Your words melt the strongest hearts. People from all over the world are listening to you and your words have the power to change foreign policies on a global scale. I'm getting old and it blesses my heart to see such wisdom found in a generation that seems so self entitled. You are so much more because you are fighting for a cause that is pure and right. As you can imagine, older people gain wisdom over time but you wear it like a robe of light. I have my list of hero's in life; people who I look up to, but did you know that you are at the top of the list? Today, I'm an American English teacher, living and working in North Vietnam for two reasons. I love Asian culture and I love giving them a skill that can change their lives forever. You are a North Korean living in America but I will end with this. Don't let North Korea set the narrative. You are not a defector. You are more than an activist. You are the hope and future of North Korea and a world leader. You are the change that is coming. God bless you!

You remind me of my daughter Lyllia, she is Korean and we adopted her from Ukraine. Her birth name was Kim Lyllia Yovonovich. The orphanage where she was was also very impoverished. We adopted her and a boy who was Ukrainian together because he had become her protector in the orphanage and she stayed close to him so they were like siblings. They are now 23 and he will be 24 soon and they get on each other’s nerves but they are very protective of each other.
@allenabbey24753 жыл бұрын
Because food was so scarce in the orphanage they didn’t always have food to eat, as a result they still have behaviors resulting from that experience. After meals the boy, Coliya, would always check to see if there was any food left for the next meal. Lyllia would pile so much on her plate and if she ate it all she would pile it up again and barely touch it, it was a little frustrating to throw away so much food but it was worth it if it gave her comfort in knowing that she would not go hungry.

Please do your due diligence and research this woman's credibility. She has already been exposed as a fraud exaggerating/fabricating her claims. Her stories have been inconsistent and contradictory over the years, raising questions as to the veracity of her claims. Anyone who is tempted to believe that this woman might be telling the truth should look up "The Strange Tale of Yeonmi Park" in The Diplomat. Park Yeonmi is a compulsive liar and a narcissist. (Google it!). She has been caught in a million lies and simply profits off her NK sob story and by virtue signaling. No better than Greta Thunburg! Short version, her story is full of holes and she has changed it multiple times (she can't even remember it consistently which is a problem with people who make things up since things that actually happened are just plain easier to remember than things you made up for profit.) Also see "Why do North Korean defector testimonies so often fall apart?" in The Guardian. The combination of cash incentives (from various political organizations as well as the government) and the media’s constant pursuit for disturbing stories encourage refugees to exaggerate for financial rewards as well as popularity which in her case, she was able to use to tour the world AND become an actress. Also look up North Korean defector Shin Dong-hyuk who wrote a bestselling book about his life in a gulag he was never actually in and admitted the fact AFTER earning vast sums of money with a memoir which he made up. Anything about the life about her family is said to be lies. Life in North Korea may be shit. Life in many countries of the world is shit. She was never a “defector”. At most she is a refugee, at least, an economic migrant. Her mother and herself lives like princesses according to testimony of people who knew her while she lived in the DPKR. She has become a Millionaire and is living the dream. Really sucks that KZbin has made it so easy for con artists to create a channel with a fake bleeding heart story and get super rich off the caring public that falls for it. There's so much of this going on across many different subjects. QUOTE from : *Yeonmi Park: The Defector Who Fooled the World* "I’m writing this message because I care about human rights and North Korean defectors. I was initially a big supporter of Yeonmi Park until I read Mary Ann Jolley’s exposé at the Diplomat.com .Then I realized something was very wrong with Yeonmi’s story. So I began to do some research. The more I researched, the more shocked and outraged I became at the extent of her lies. Many people are still unaware of Jolley’s article or are not willing to believe that Yeonmi is misleading us. I made this document for everyone to see the truth. Ms. Park is doing serious harm to the human rights field and to North Korean defectors. After she is exposed, many people around the world are going to feel betrayed. They may not be willing to listen or care about other defectors. That would be a tragic mistake, since many other defectors are surely honest and deserve our support. The other reason I made this document was the suspicious Yeonmi Park Foundation website. Mary Ann Jolley pointed out that the website had a PayPal donate button, but there was no mention of how the money would be used. this reminds me of the life my mother had when she was a child. We live in Portugal, Europe and until 1974 we were in a dictatorship. She did manual labor for as long as she remembers but she used to work in her family's farm and could eat the food they produced. Because of this she had to leave school at the age of 12 and this was very common in portugal back in the day. We are also quite small

I was concerned that honest people who want to help defectors might be sending their money into the wrong hands. I was relieved when Yeonmi responded to the Diplomat.com article by taking her foundation website down. Her explanation (“it was a dummy website made by a friend that accidentally went live and couldn’t really receive donations”) is obviously very dubious. We should thank Jolley for helping to ensure that donations to defectors go through reputable charities, with oversight and clear guidelines for how the money will be used.I’m still very concerned that Yeonmi and some of the people around her have a high potential to mislead others and harm North Korean defector causes. So I’m sending this document out in the hopes that you will help spread the truth."

*A trained 'SCAM ACTRESS'* Yeonmi has the most hilarious channel on KZbin. The woman who runs that channel seems to use a lot of baseless slander to express her deep seated hatred. The funniest part is reading the comments & seeing how gullible & naIve people are. We also know that America loves to destabilize regions under the guise of "nation building" and "National Security bullshit". This seems to be a propaganda channel for this women who seems to try to make you believe she knows what's going on in NK. She doesn't!. She knows she can play Americans on anything labeled communism. What she is doing is manipulating young people in America, because those who control her want to go to war in NK. Do a bit of homework. And she is certainly a pawn of the South Korean Intelligence (NIS) and Right Wing American forces. She is funded by Atlas Network. She along with other famous defectors are paid handsomely to speak on atrocities and human rights violations through their heart breaking stories that the western audience is so sympathetic towards. How can you question such a cute victim of a horrible regime right? She's a trained 'activist actor' who was schooled at the Oslo Freedom Forum. Her job is to trigger emotional hatred with the usual propaganda the west uses to villainize any country that dares to say "no thank you" to handing it's resources over to the Zionist controlled City of London Bankers/Military Industrial Complex. And here it is, the propaganda's effect in full force. Got to convince the populous the enemy exists and is monstrous before war can be sanctioned. This entire story she spouts is bullshit and is providing the precedent for invasion. Do we not learn from Afghanistan, Iraq and Co? Yes never stop lying for the sake of capitalists and especially for the biggest criminal in history, United States. Lying on your own COUNTRY to make money to spend on cosmetic surgery. So keep em coming Yeonmi, you've certainly earned your 30 pieces of silver & 15 minutes of fame (& much much more) because that's all you're interested in - the $ & attention. Don’t worry the sheep on here will appalled you Take the time to look at the links below : Using Human Rights for Right-Wing Politics truthout.org/articles/using-human-rights-for-right-wing-politics/ Atlas Network, the right-wing libertarians peoplesdispatch.org/2018/08/29/atlas-network-the-right-wing-libertarians/

As an African, I can tell you that your natural skin color is beautiful. We don't need to use skin cream to lighten our skin as if to say lighter skin is more beautiful. When we change who we are it is like saying that we are not beautiful the way we are. Besides, you have to ask yourself who told "you" that that is beautiful, and that is ugly? Like you said in another video, some Korean men like women with more rounder faces, while here in the west it appears that triangular faces are liked more. Beauty is in the heart of the person whose eyes are full of love and whose eyes are watching God.

Deserving is a tricky thing. If a dictator would step down in exchange for living his life in luxury and protected, would he deserve the luxury in exchange of stepping down, or would you have his people pay even more to have one man suffer his due? You will notice "deserve" is a term that is used to make yourself feel better, not a function of justice or help.

I feel there’s some irony when you say, “if I don’t use baby safety seat in freedom [The West] I could go to jail.” We’ve gone beyond keeping children safe and actually started criminalizing poverty. And then older people get upset when younger people say, “it’s too expensive to have children!”
@coin52073 жыл бұрын
Criminalizing poverty? This is an example of criminalizing being an irresponsible parent. Yes children are expensive in developed countries. That's why most people wait until they have a stable income to have children. If you can't afford a baby safety seat don't drive your baby with your car. 99% of people who can't afford that wouldn't have cars anyway, they're expensive as well

I worked for a company that was worldwide and you could actually transfer to other companies. Dimitri, my co worker, was from Romania. He brought his mother to visit for a month. He said when she walked into Fred Myers, (grocery chain) she stopped and was frozen in shock. She started crying. She could not believe the fresh produce of all kinds. The meats, everything was too much for her. They had to take her outside to recover before going back in. What you said and what she went through, is a very powerful story. Yes, we are blessed here in America and yes, the majority of us work very hard for these choices. Americans should not look at other countries with less as the citizens fault. They work ten times as hard as us for no pay or little pay. When you complain because Walmart is out of your favorite scented toilet paper, you have no idea what this world is about...

It's a shame, that the high ranked politics can't do anything about this situation. The people suffered since so many years and every single refugee from NK is telling the exact same thing. How could someone close his eyes for a emergency like this? Thankfully even after brainwashing since the early childhood there are some brave people, who try to escape and raise their voice against the country to tell the truth! Please don't stop to talk about it.

China, cause China doesn't want it to end. They're the ones propping up the corrupt Kim regime. China has a vested interest in keeping North Korea around.
@pulaski13 жыл бұрын
@@ramonantoniodejuanbennett6239 The Chinese could stop it tomorrow if they wanted to - it's a pity they don't annex NK like they did Tibet. It might not be an ideal solution, but it'd be better than the current situation.
@pulaski13 жыл бұрын
@@justingovak3632 Maybe - Germany's mistake was to invade neighbouring countries. If they'd stuck to their own borders they may have continued to exist for decades, and that is why NK exists, they've stayed within their borders. ..... The moment that they "try anything", such as lobbing an armed missile at another country, the game will likely be over for NK, and I believe that the NK military leaders _know_ that, even if Kim Jong-un is deluding himself otherwise.

Talk, talk, talk....Nothing but talk talk talk and more useless talk. "This must end by any means." Yes. Words, prayers are worthless in fighting this. Don't even suggest such nonsense. These downtrodden people must free themselves from their sadistic, self-loving, evil leaders. There must be open rebellion. That means war. I don't say this lightly. It will be very costly, but no bargaining table is going to do anything but waste time while these North Koreans continue to starve to death and be put to death openly for merely wanting food for themselves and their families. Open your eyes. See what has to be done, the utter destruction of the Kim family and their cohorts.

Question: Are fair skinned women seen as highly beautiful in NK? Like it would mean her family was rich enough to not have her working.
@candied.crabapples3 жыл бұрын
Usually Asians see porcelain skin as beautiful - it also means they don’t have to work on the farms so they are better off. Some Asians go so far as to bleach their skin and some have horrible effects.

I wonder the same thing! It's def possible that their appearance and outfits will give away their status as well.

I think yes, because maybe fair skin represents or symbols wealthy people because of their status since they (maybe) don't need to work Many hours in the sun much than the people that are poor. Well, that's my theory.

Sadly they don't, especially if they don't have any lost family members stuck in NK... As selfish as it may sound, they're less reluctant to get rid of the border in fear that their economy will worsen if they have to compete for the workforce with North Koreans. Personally, I can understand both sides. SK's low birth rate is due to the high cost of raising a child. But if I was a Korean citizen, I would still be for taking down the wall and getting rid of Kim Jong Un
