I built this kit with my older brother who was a teacher and always chose toys like this because he felt we would learn something while having fun. Sort of... Anyway it was HARD to build but we finally got it going and the red lights replicating the spark plugs actually worked but were not timed right. But at least we finished it! Thanks for the video. Great memories!

Hi Jimmy - That's pretty cool that you built this with your older brother. Yeah, that seemed like an "educational" toy and had so many parts that it must have been hard to put together. Glad you were able to finish it. Mark

I had this and latter on the Yankel engine that was to replace the V8. This of course never happened. When looking back at the 60's growing up I miss all the things/toys. I recall having a canvas pup tent, canteen, army garb and would camp out at night playing army. When walkie talkies came out this enhanced our military stake outs. Kids today are missing out of this. During the summer kids in our neighborhood are all inside communicating on the Internet. The playgrounds are ghost towns. I wish my kids could spend 1week back in the 60's to see how we played and communicated. I will always harbor great and warm thoughts of the 60's.

+Thomas Garvey This is a great recollection of the time we grew up in Tom. I'm right with you on the analysis of that time. We had our own society of kids and made up our own games and fun without the involvement of adults. I'm not into real guns but there were a lot of great military toys in the 60's that were a lot of fun. I think a lot of people that are our age played army. We made our own sound effects of gunfire and ran around in everybody's yard around the neighborhood. Yes, warm thoughts of the 60's. You should stop by for pie and a game of Battleship or Stratego.

I had a viable V8 model back in the early 1970's.

That's cool that you had one Robbi. It was a pretty intricate model. By the way, you might be interested in a music video that I created for one of my original songs. I used some of my old Super 8 films, TV/movie clips and new video of myself lip synching to the song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5Kol3mBgLCVldU

You've got the coolest channel on KZbin. You would have to be retired to build that model if my memory serves me correctly it took me about a week to build that thing lol 😂

Thanks Robbi. I'm glad you enjoy the channel. Ha! Yeah, I think it would take a long time to build that model. Have a good week.

Cool 😎 Mark! I have the Visible Man ,visible Woman and the Visible Head and always thought this would be cool to have ... I guess the search is on... 😃

Hey, you have to complete your collection. It would take a long time to put one of those together but I know my oldest brother got it working when I was a kid.

My dad had this as a kid! I'm gona buy one and build it in my room omg!

That's cool! Have fun building the kit. It's good to hear about modern kids building models.

Mark Schussler Of course I'm 21 lol dad is 64. He might be your age come to think of it I might have him help me because I want him to have fun too like he did with the other one. But is it hard to find these with the electric starter? Cuz now thier mostly hand cranked and I kinda don't want that. I wana build this replica and watch it move hands free.
@MSchussler7 жыл бұрын
I'm 58 so your Dad is a few years older than me. It was my oldest brother who is 69 now that put this set together when I was a kid. It would be nice if it could be a Father/Son project for you and your Dad. I got a refurbished Mattel Fright Factory for my nephew to give to him next Christmas so that he and his Dad (my younger brother that got one in the 60's) could play with it together. I don't know what the new sets of this kit are like. You might be able to get a vintage set on eBay that would have the electric starter but I don't thing that would be very cheap.

58 LOL your still young and he did a good job! Even 60s is young. I gotta say you grew up in the best generation of cars man. These types of engines we're more handsome than today's engines. I don't know you probably agree with me that its always nice to build the set and have it in your room than buying it. I mean at least you don't have to paint it that's for sure all you gotta do is do your best to put it together. Today's ones they look like yours except their hand cranked. For you to see the engine move you have to manually move the lever where the crankshaft is. Like a manual pencil sharpener that's hand cranked. But theirs no lights and that sucks. This model car in my profile pic i built like five years ago. Its a 55 Chrysler 300. Pretty cool hobby building stuff ;) Your video might get me back into it i haven't done it in awhile.

I built one of these when I was 9 years old (Christmas 1971) and it actually worked as I had no help. My brothers and I did build plastic model kits back then. Also built the visible wankel the following Christmas. They were fun kits and it's a shame they are collected instead of enjoyed. Pat

pat kay I'm impressed that you were able to put this together at nine years old. I also built models in the early 70's (Not this particular one though) as did my brother and a lot of kids of the time. They still make a version of the Visible V8 so I think there is room for both collecting/enjoying and building/enjoying this particular model. The real shame is that most kids today don't have the time/interest in the simple joy of building a model kit.

+Mark Schussler Revell/Monogram has the visible v-8 model kit for sale, kit is missing the battery operated motor-engine has to turned by a hand crank. Kit is molded in black and clear. Maybe someone will reissue the visible chassis someday.
@MSchussler8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Persoage It seems a little less fun to turn the engine by a hand crank instead of it being battery operated. I think it would be great if a lot of the classic toys were reissued. I've had an odd reoccurring dream where the Remco Barracuda Atomic Submarine has been reissued.

I am on my 2nd one now. The 1st one I opened up some of the parts so that when my Dad would blow cig. smoke into the air cleaner you could see the puffs of smoke coming out of the exhaust manifolds while it was running.(1961) when I finish this one it is going in my sons auto shop to educate some of his customers.
@MSchussler7 жыл бұрын
That was a pretty neat trick with the cigar smoke. It certainly would be cool to put one of them in our son's auto shop.

I have an original V8 and chassis, unfortunately the chassis got beat up, i have most of the chassis, i would like to get a sketch of the clutch with dimensions, thank you

Revell/Monogram has a lot of the Renwal molds. The Renwal visible chassis kit is demanding large money. Some Renwal visible models can be rather difficult for the novice to put together.
@MSchussler8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Persoage Hey Richard - It's good to know that the Renwall model might be worth something. That's one of the things I would like to sell because I didn't have one as a kid and I don't have any great sentimental attachment to it. I can imagine that it would be difficult to put one of those together. Mark
