Stay positive people, my Urologist first asked me if I saw my test results online. I had no idea there was such a thing. Then he told me I have prostate cancer, the way he told me was like I had 2 weeks left to live. I soon did all my own research and talked 2 two Oncologists. my Chemo Oncologist told me I had the best attitude of any of her patients. I have simply decided this is not going to kill me and I am doing everything I can to heal my body. I know that doctor is not God, and I also know that a positive attitude is 90% of everything. God Bless you all.

I am currently doing chemo treatment fir a stage 3 cancer. I am staying with my vegan relatives to be near the cancer treatment center. For 2weeks I have eaten nothing but vegetables with them. What has 2 weeks of veggies done for me? I feel better than I ever have my entire life!! I've added whole grain bread and some chicken n egg s butter cheese. Just with those added items I can feeel the difference. But I need extra protein. And I strive to have a positive attitude. I try to keep things light and read comical books to keep positive. I allow no negative around me. Will I survive this chemo? I don't know. Will I survive this cancer? I don't know. But either way I'd like to go out swinging with a big grin.

Nausea was a big part of chemo for me! & the fact no one told me that my left big toenail became permanently damaged. I have an ugly black shell toenail that will never be normal. The big toe is somewhat numb & underneath the toenail is uncomfortable. I’ve seen podiatrists & the damage is permanent. & yes, I lost all my hair!

I completed chemo and immunotherapy 2021 for small cell stage 4 lung cancer which for the past year is "undetectible". I was given an anti nausea med I.V during the chemo and immunotherapy. I was only nauseous once. Since I developed side effects from the immunotherapy it was stopped shortly after chemo ended. Its hard to know if my symptoms were from chemo or immunotherapy or both. I did require a blood transfusion due to extremely abnormal blood count. The transfusion greatly improved my energy level. The conditions I developed include hypothyroidism, hypertension, hair loss, extremely dry skin, brittle nails, skin discolorations (reddish sunburn like chest and cheeks) extreme itching. The itching was only relieved with high dose steroids which caused weight gain. Finally my hair grew back. my nails are long and healthy. I no longer have serious skin problems. Steroids were slowly titrated until discontinuation. I now take Dupixent injection every 2 wks.I still have tiredness late morniings but overall much improved. Also I was hospitalized for COVID-19 pneumonia requiring 6 wks. of continuous oxygen. Presently I am feeling well. While my ct scans have been favorable I am cognizant of the reality and possibility of recurrence. As far as side effects from treatment, for me the outcome certainly outweighed the side effects which have been managed well by my specialists. I am fortunate to have a great team of doctors treating me.

Not many people know this, ,but there is really 13 things. 13. Men also get cancer and have trouble with chemo.... you would think by the number of female only oriented channels that it just didn't exist. You have a great channel. It would just be refreshing as a stage 4 to hear anyone say something about helping men and women alike with cancer related issues. Never give up the fight. Keep rocking it. Thank you

@Awesome Dave So glad someone mentioned this fact. It's obviously a self evident truth but we guys really need support. I live in the UK and it seems to me that men are the ones who are underrepresented. That being said, I'm sure much of the advice given in this particular video is also applicable to us as well as our female counterparts. The comparative lack of male KZbin cancer channels is perhaps testimony to our underrepresentation. Hopefully that will change. After all the incidence of cancer in males is 1 out of 2 whereas it's 1 in 3 for females. (National Cancer Institute). Guys are significantly higher. Still, it's not a competition. Cancer's no respector of persons. Stay well 👍

I didn’t lose weight for chemo I didn’t gain weight. I think the only thing that really bothered me a lot was everywhere I went. Everyone would ask me about my chemo and I got tired of talking about it. Nobody asked how I was doing just about how the chemo was going.

I lost my appetite but when I eat I increase in weight. Even if the food taste bitter because I follow the doctors saying I should not lose weight. I have friends who keep asking how I am doing but I don’t like that kind of greetings I don’t want to talk about my cancer because I become emotional and crying hurts my head my jaws my eyes. What I want if someone wants to help me I need someone who would ask what food would you like I will cook for you that’s the greatest help for me. Coming home after the treatment I need to prepare my food instead of lying down resting because I felt exhausted at the hospital. I told the nurse who comes to the house to disconnect my home chemo and on the next day another nurse coming to change the dressing of my PICC not to talk about my cancer unless I open up to them whatever progress there is. A certain nurse who became a friend and do the dressing many times because she lives nearby made me happy she is a very comforting nurse I feel at ease with her. Now my oncologist is planning to change my chemo meds because after 6chemo treatment the tumour size still the same and what worries me he suggested a radiation too. I agree what choice do I have? I just want the tumour to shrink so the surgeon can operate but now I have to start again and on my 8th treatment I think chemo meds will change.

I agree. People I know want information about me so much they have gone to my relatives behind my back to ask them. I can’t help but get mad at them for doing this and then they give me the impression that I’m too sensitive. I don’t understand why they are so intent on all my personal info but they won’t get it from anyone but me. I have seriously considered changing my phone number and not giving it to them. They feign concern for me but I don’t buy it.

Simple a lot of doctors are snakes. They’re in it for the money. Do your research and be your own advocate. I’m sitting here other week eating smoothies and half of my back tooth slid off. Then I have a black mark across my whole forehead. I made her stop it immediately and refused the pills she gave me. Now she’s trying to sneakily put me back on chemo balls…hell no. We never talk about the good things…my hair growing back..nails stronger…no spitting of blood or blowing blood..she seem to ignore all those things. Yes my #’s might be up but the cancer is slow growing. Numbers could be up from tooth getting pulled…all the food is bioengineered…any number of things. So now I’m going back to being a pescatarian and buy as much organic food I can afford.

Had hair down to my butt. To ease the loss of it ,I donated it to Wigs For Kids. And the hair salon cut and styled it in a nice short style for free ,even though i i would lose all of it. And I bought a wig that was something that was totally different from my natural hair but I never actually wore it. I just preferred a loose hat. It was nice not to have to take the time to wash my hair or worse,shave my legs. The strange hair loss for me was on my arms.And some side affects are permanent. Neuropathy and no teeth are my biggest ones. One other is a positive one..My hair on my legs and my underarms is now sparse.

I am in chemo indefinitely. Until there is progression, my body can’t tolerate it or a cure. Been in treatment now for 3 1/2 years. Technically I am doing well and beating the odds. Stage 4 nsclc. It’s the growing fatigue and each time I get a simple cold or even a cut, takes so long to recover. Getting covid changed it dramatically. Recovering from treatment and everything else takes a lot more time. I am trying to learn to live and adjust with this change. I didn’t loose my hair either. It is thinned quite a bit and I have chemo hair, even though I didn’t loose it, it now has a mind of its own. Living and learning. The sweats are crazy for me. I get sweats from the lump node involvement, menopause (got diagnosed right when diagnosed lol) and chemo sweat. I got the nerve damage from the cancer and yes I got more of it from treatment. It’s an adventure for sure, but I believe in living happily with wherever I am. Thanks

9:12 I am so glad I watched your video. I am a 2005 breast cancer survivor. Had 2 surgeries and 4 rounds of BIG RED. I have had neuropathy in my keft hand since my treatments, after the iv went into my arm. They said my vein blew? But, I remember that the staff was very nonexistent during my treatments. I felt a horrible sensation in my left arm, and I believe it was their error that caused my issue. What do you think?

Hi, thank you for this vid. I’m almost 2 weeks out from hysterectomy & 2 days ago my Dr called & said she suggests both chemo & radiation. My follow up is still 2 weeks ahead. So right now my head is all over the place. I know it’s superficial but my hair is down to my bum & of course that’s where my thoughts went, I’m nearly 60 so there’s old programming in there. Guess I feel pretty lost right now, glad I found this vid, will check out more.

When I was 1st diagnosed multiple people told me endometrial cancer was usually a hysterectomy & done so when I received the call that it wasn’t over, I began researching what would happen during chemo & radiation. Learning the chemo would kill both cancerous & healthy cells & besides all the other side effects, hair loss happens in 65% of patients. Before watching this video I had watched this woman’s journey & watched her brush out handfuls of hair and yes that messed with my head. Yes I know it will grow back & the other side effects will go away too. I’m not a beautiful woman & the thought of me hairless was a bit overwhelming. I will survive all of this, just had an emotional fear reaction…probably not the last. 😆

I have just started chemo and am going tomorrow for the second session. not really fatigue or tiredness because am still doing the household chores cleaning washing and cooking. I only feel tired when I am just lying in bed doing nothing that makes me tired but if I am working around the house my back painful but tolerable. I already had chronic back pains that is my number complaints before I experienced abdominal pains on and off. during my first treatment they told me to take the tablet for nausea even if I am not sick taking it according to them is to prevent me from becoming sick so I just followed while at the hospital. when I am home I did not feel like vomiting though there was once then I took that tablet. but it is not severe maybe I have only taken that tablet for nausea I think 4 times since my first treatment. my chemo is every 14 days actually it would be 15th day tomorrow is my scheduled second treatment because they change the day from Monday to Tuesday. they want me to have blood test every Monday a day before my treatment. so tomorrow I will see first my Oncologist in the morning and in the afternoon is the treatment. I also cut my hair shorter already anticipating hair loss because of chemo and the nurse said usually it will start on the second week I do not know if second week after the first treatment or on the second treatment so I will know before the end of June if I will lose my hair. as they say, what is good for you may not be good for me though we both have cancer of the same type there are other factors to be considered before a doctor will start treatment what kind of treatment best for you base on your kind of cancer and the surrounding circumstances like my cancer based on ultrasound, CT scan, endoscopic ultrasound and biopsy then MRI it did not spread my liver, lungs and kidneys are cleared but the tumour is really big. goodluck to me tomorrow. I believe in prayers and I know the Holy Spirit is with me and I will survive.

I do not understand in this day and. Year of 2023, why there are no other options but chemo treatments for cancer. Decades of research and new medical breakthroughs and therapies, medications, etc, there are no other options.
@aussieme-mt7vr
@aussieme-mt7vr 11 ай бұрын
@@joannblock9928 my surgeon told me that she wanted the tumour to shrink and it’s only chemo. What bothers me is the dietitian telling me not to buy too many vegetables because what they want is for me to eat more protein. Before my diagnosis my weight was 74 kgs so I tried mini Keto I stopped eating rice noodles and bread. When having coffee I put thickened cream instead of full cream milk. I used butter in my cooking with lots of vegetables and bacon. I am not a bacon fan but since my manager told me it is keto friendly I follow what she said. She used to be very heavy also a breast cancer survivor but did not have chemo. She is a keto model for me. I lost 7 kgs when I was diagnosed of pancreatic cancer I weighed 66 kgs on my first appointment with my surgeon. What is stressing to me now is aside from trying to survive the chemo this dietitian wants to chat about what I am eating and telling me I can have dark chocolate or hot chocolate drink and she said I need to use a cup of milk to add to the choco powder instead of hot water. I tried to avoid sugar but it seems now they telling me it’s alright because they do not want me to lose weight. So now am eating lots of meat and carbo plus sweetness of course I will not lose weight. But every time I have chemo treatment I will go home with chemo and disconnect on the third day and an injection to avoid my blood count from going down but it is still high there’s no injection. Within 3 days with chemo meds I lost my appetite but I forced myself to eat anything because I do not want to take meds without food in my body. I will have treatment my 5th on Tuesday hopefully by September my surgeon will request for test to see the size of the tumour. I will only give myself until November having chemo if the surgeon will say it is not shrinking I think I try keto I do not care anymore if I will lose weight. They said if I lost weight they will stop chemo. Then I will resort to full keto. I am a vegetable eater and without vegetables in my food I feel I am not full. I do eat fish but at the moment I don’t like the smell.

Yes you can refuse your last 2 treatments. I did and they had to respect what I chose for myself. The chemo was killing me, not my cancer, I was stage 4 ovarian and I fought it with alternative approaches also which was thru diet, colonics, herb supplements etc. Plus I removed myself from stress completely and went to live in the countryside. It was either that or probably I wasn’t going to make it out of there alive and I knew it in my heart.

I think every oncologist is different. I have learn after my experience, then family members after, that a lot of oncologists follow the standard protocol for a cancer and get annoyed by too many questions. And then there’s the select group that actually looks at you as an individual and treats your case individually. Most oncologists want you to just do what they say.

My oncologist is very busy my last appointment when he called me in I was about to start telling him what I need but he was talking to a technician to fix his computer. When he was done he said I am all yours now I was just able to ask for script for nausea I said where will I get that and when I look at the script it should be bought at the hospital only. They provided me at first treatment but now my body had changed too much. After third treatment my appetite is decreasing everything is bitter. I feel like puking but I need a little food so I can take meds the reason now am taking nausea tab but I am writing down when my last intake I don’t want to take more than 2 in one day. Going back to the oncologist after giving me the script he said you can go now I booked you for treatment. He is too busy or not interested to know what I am experiencing. His assistants are much better than him. Since I avail a government service I have no choice he is the one in charge. If only I have the money I might be able to find someone who is more compassionate.

I am undergoing chemo and just finished 6th treatment my oncologist requested for CT scan wanting the results before my 7th treatment and because I had an appointment with my surgeon a day after my 7th treatment. So last Tuesday the oncologist told me the tumour was not reduced but it did not grow. The kind of chemo meds they were giving me was not working she suggested a radiation. I told my surgeon outright she called the main oncologist and yes he did suggest for a radiation and change in chemo meds. My surgeon wanted me to undergo ERCP prior to radiation and chemo treatment which she requested to be done next week. I am praying I will survive the radiation because a friend nurse told me sometimes the skin where they are doing the laser will be affected I don’t know how because I still have to chat with the doctor about it. So on my 8th treatment I don’t know if they are still going to give me home chemo. Home chemo is disgusting because I cannot sleep for 3 days and the tingling sensation in my fingers when I touch cold water and when I am chewing food my jaws hurt first to second bites. But when this home chemo is disconnect I started to feel better.

Oh love, I was diagnosed with triple negative 4 yrs ago. Had the BIG RED chemo and I was so sick. Treatment every two weeks. There were times I felt like I'd broken bones from my neck to my feet. I shuffled like an old lady at age 48. BUT with loads of Prayer, strong faith, merciful God, positive attitude and incredibly supportive family and friends there is HOPE at the end of the tunnel. My hubby and I would go on a bfast date the morning of chemo as it was pretty much the only day I felt well enough before the next round. I put on my wig, did my makeup and dressed up 😊 Hang in there. I had to take 8 months off work (in community services) during chemo and RT - there was no way I could have worked through it. Praying for genuine, supportive people around you who understand how sick chemo can make you feel, but prayers its doing what its meant to. Blessings

It really is upsetting when I hear people say we'll I was able to climb mount everest and jog 10 miles a day. It definitely depends on the type of chemo and how your body responds. Don't feel guilty because you don't feel good. When you are done with the chemo you will start to feel better. Best of luck to you. Many prayers 🙏 ❤️
