Maggie, great video. I was visiting Panama for my second time last April before the elections and yes the people are so invested in their country and the candidates and issues in their country. Also I really noticed the first time I visited that the children are much more respectful and they talk to each other rather then just stare at a phone. They also say hello to you, I was blown away by that.

You & I have so much in common on many levels, I too went to Catholic school for 8 years, not to put down the faith/practices, but we were treated so badly I I told my mother I couldn't do 4 more. I'm a few years older than you and follow traditional, respectful lifestyle/behavior that I taught my children basics to follow for the most part. I love the arts, opera/ballet, straight-ahead jazz of course, etc., and I'm not a foodie, I'm actually eating salad w/bloomed seasonings on my rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods that I'll eat from for the next 6 days, I enjoy my prepared meals. Hi Maggie. I stumbled upon your video. Nicely done with a unique perspective. My wife and I toured Panama last summer. It checks all the boxes as a retirement option. You speak truth. I appreciated your giggle when talking about the skewed perspective of patriotism here in the US. We have some serious issues on our plate and I am nervous about the upcoming election. The vibe in Panama is like nothing I have experienced anywhere else. Tranquillo. I did not know about the country being carbon negative. Your sentiment about the healing component is spot on. Panamanians are humble and kind. I am so happy for you as you continue your journey. Best wishes to you.

Maggie, you nail it every time!!! With every video you make, you bring a positive attitude along with all the relative information needed to have a happy retirement in Panama. I'm not saying there are no negatives in Panama, but I am sure the Panamanians know what they are. However, this is their country, and they will fix it if they wish. Hi, thanks for writing. The music is played in the city and other large cities or expat enclaves. Panamanian music is eclectic and includes cumbia, salsa, reggae and calypso in AfroPanamanian enclaves in Colon and Bocas del Toro respectively. There is regional music that is typical of Panama with the accordion. Regional music is played in the interior. I really like it.

Every generation after the 50s and many 60 babies In the melanin rich community losses a bit of their self-love and pride here in the U.S it seems. There is a definite agenda that many have completely fallen for. Sad that we need religion , media and TV to tell us who we are. Most of the world conform to the country they are in for good or bad.
