12 Things The Cuphead Show Changed From The Video Game

I dont think alot of the changes have anything to do with it being a "kids show" but more like writing the game version of cuphead would be super boring as nothing really happens and the bosses aren't proactive, and nothing really happens to you when you walk from boss too boss. Also writing the changes off as "for kids" is super weak, because over half the show is mugman and cuphead either trying to scam, steal, or murder the other characters, even a child would know dropping something heavy on a glass would break it, like how mugman tried killing cuphead, also bowlboy nuff said.

It's for kids like in the sense that Donald Duck War cartoons are for kids. Really, people nowadays see anything animated and water it down as 'just for kids'. But to be fair, most kids cartoons nowadays are very safe (or what parents consider as safe) and therefore the family-friendly nature could be quite annoying. Remember when guns, cigarettes, and creativity were allowed in childrens media? I miss that.

its still way less mature than the game was literally, the gambling themes and addiction themes could of been insane to explore in this, plus um literally 200% of the people that grew up watching these vintage cartoons are full grown adults now so itd work on many levels, the kids already have Disney 😂 why can't we have Cuphead? literally a PARODY HOMAGE to Disney and og cartoons itself

Okay, first of all, they didn’t tone down the mature themes in the show for only kids to enjoy, they toned it down so MORE people (aka kids too) could enjoy it. They didn’t do it to make it entirely for kids. Secondly, HAVE YOU SEEN SEASON 2? Mugman literally tried to MURDER an ice cream guy and his own brother. Plus, the entire bowl boy episode was just creepy all together. They definitely toned up the mature themes in season 2. Thirdly, even tho it is more made for kids, doesn’t mean adults can’t enjoy it. *Inserts the brony fandom*

There has been so much wrong with this list that, I don't even know where to begin. A kids show can still show more mature themes for all to enjoy and the Cuphead creators definetly know that. The root pack is now a bigger threat as they would have been able to kill all of the plants around, which they even did. Chalice only got the redesign in the game to make her work as a playable character, yet she still has the same backstory and nothing got changed. The Devil having more fur to make him look fluffier can make him look even more threatening as well depending on the shot. Grim was already able to breath fire without turning his head to a flamethrower, and you showed that footage several times. And were you really saying that a finger gun, a thing kids do, is too mature for kids? As it ain't a snap, it is just a finger gun

Not sure if this is true but i heard the shows story was before the games story so cuphead and mugman are kids in the show and after the show thats where the games story came in as the cups grew to kidults old enough to go into a casino (the casino opens after the show)

I actually have a theory for some of this, Ribby and Croaks, the finger bullets, the fact they broke Brineybeard's legs, and the way the finale ended with the casino, I'm willing to bet the entire show is one big prequel to the game. Now that would raise the question of if that were the case wouldn't Chalice and the cups already know each other in the game but still, it explains a lot don't it?

I just want to say a thing about the finger gun... I don't think they took it away cuz kids show blah blah, but there could be a possibility that they don't have the finger guns because they didn't drink the potion. In the game they had to drink a potion to get the fingers guns sooo.. Also at the end of season two it shows cuphead will have to save mugman and he could possibly go to elder kettle and get that potion from the game

I've loved the idea of Cuphead as a game since its first short tease at an Xbox Sizzle Reel during E3 however many years ago. I then loved the game when it finally launched and was very excited about The Cuphead Show, despite them clearly targeting a younger demographic than my 40 year old ass. However, I loved the show even more. The show took what I considered one of the more forgettable bosses, Baroness Von Bon Bon, and made her episode my favorite in the show. I accept they're not exactly the same story and characters, but close enough for me to appreciate them both. Excitedly awaiting season 4!
