Surveys indicated that many motorists don't know the basics of running a car and maybe you have covered some of these suggestions already? . How about (1) monthly maintenance checks (show how to check oil levels, tyre pressures etc) or (2) how to change a wheel / car battery or (3) checks before MOT or (4) significance of certain knocking sounds from a car (front/back) or (5) how to keep windows legal, clear and streak free!. Great to hear your views given your experience being an MOT tester.

Good tips, but I have repainted both fenders on my Golf with only 82.000km, and it was not because of a crash, but because of a rush (typical weak spot).

Great tips. Which OBD scanner would be appropriate for BMW E90 for at home diagnostics?

Well, at the service we use Delphi, Autocom, G-Scan2, we also have OEM BMW OBD Scanner. The best OBD scanner to use at home would be Delphi. You can do lots of things - bleed the brake fluid system, reset engine oil / brake pads / brake fluid / inspection / DPF. You can read any fault code & more. You need an interface, a laptop and a license for that. There may be other cheaper OBD Scanners, but I don't know at the moment those ones. Cheers :-)

Buna! Am si eu nevoie de un sfat, te rog! Cand verific mot-ul unei masini, nu stiu cat de importante sau de grave sunt unele probleme si reparatii facute/nefacute. La ce ar trebui sa fiu mai atenta? Ma gandesc sa iau o Honda Civic... Multumesc anticipat. Succes!

Parerea mea este ca trebuie de verificat daca masina nu este la evidenta in rol de gaj la un credit. Daca masina nu a servit nici-o companie de taxi!
