There was a video where a guy had the consent of the father to see if he could entice his teen daughter to come out the house to meet him in the park. The father was sure that his teen daughter would not go. She sneaked out and went to meet the stranger and the father came out of hiding and scolded her. She was crying and apologetic to the father. She said it would not happen again. Some time later, the father asked the same guy to see if he could talk his younger teen daughter into coming out to meet him. The father seriously didn't think it would happen because of the lessons learned and talked about at home after the first incident but he was wrong. Soon after the guy told her to come out to meet him, she opened the front door ready to go and the father was on the other side of the door. She immediately started crying because she was caught. These kids just don't listen even if the parents gave them warning after warning. My 17 year old sister did the same thing. Sneak out of the house to go hang out at a club. Parents: Put alarms on your doors and windows and activate them at night, especially if you have a child prone to sneaking out. Don’t give the child(ren) the alarm code. Also, take their electronic devices at a certain time. If those two proactive measures were done, the child would still be here. This girl among many other young girls learned the most horrible way and this tragic experience showed and opened other young girls' eyes to see and realize that you are safer at home no matter how strict your folks might be... 😢

I snuck out all the time as a kid. I wore big hoodies and jeans and attempted to dress like a guy so people would leave me alone - which for the most part I guess it worked, though I wasn't without run-ins. Two decades later, I look back on my teen years and consider myself Very fortunate.

I live in a small county town in PA. Quiet, safe, very low crime, etc. People look out for each other here. I have three daughters, my middle girl is 12. Even here, I don't allow her or her sisters outside at night alone. Not even to sit out front. She gets mad all the time and even calls me paranoid. I always say to her: "Honey, remember, I grew up in Philly. Nowhere on earth is 100% safe."

What? She wasn't 5! It's up to parents to protect and teach our children EFFECTIVELY. My kids would NEVER. But that is because they were taught what's out in the streets, they paid attention when bad things happen to other kids, and the most significant, they had a healthy fear of their mother. They are 3 successful, law abiding, citizens. Idk what happened in this child's house but the fact that she was known to have a bf at 12 shows perhaps the mother doesn't have the best judgement.
