They even know about all of the sextortion cases involving kids. My kids know that these people dont actually like them, and you aren't cool if an older person likes you. I even told them my own high school stories about me dating older guys and how creeped out i am about it now as an adult. You have to talk to your kids in a real way, not the after school special kind of way. They need to know the truth. The nitty gritty truth that you are scared to tell them about. Protecting your children is always age appropriate, and giving your children knowledge to stay safe is always age appropriate.

The Only plus side to this tragedy is that because this happened in Texas, there is a higher probability little Jocelyn and her family will get justice. On the flip side, I hope they go for the death penalty for both (and Win).
