When you set this tank up you said you bleached cured the Fiji live rock? So it wasn't traditional live rock from the ocean? How did you cycle the tank, did you add actual live rock from the ocean to get the bleach cured rock cycled, or was it a bottle bacteria method?
@CoralEuphoria3 жыл бұрын
Correct I bleached it and acid washed it. Nowadays I just acid Wash my rock. It was seeded with several things, like little pieces of rock rubble that came with soft corals, not clean Cheato, and Snails and hermit crabs obviously come with some diversity on their shells. I don't believe in bottle bacteria. I prefer to go natural

Hey what's up Abe. Beautiful tank bro. So I'm still on my mission to get close to your level as possible. I decided to cycle a new tank with dry rock. I'm on week 2 of my cycle. This new tank is going to be still a mixed tank but similar to your 120. With acro on top and torches and acans on bottom. So I've been told I have to wait at least a year before my tank is ready to support sps like red planet. Walt Disney. And bubble gum digi. Is this true. Am I going to have to wait a entire year?
@CoralEuphoria3 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say and depends on how fast your tank picks up sufficient biofiltration. Generally it should be okay to add them before one year, but I think that most people start to see good results after a year. You really should just start with softies after the cycle, then progress to LPS if that goes well, then easy SPS like montis, then Acros. It usually takes a couple of months for me to get to the LPS stage and I usually can put in Acros around 5-6months, but they don't start doing well until about the year mark. If you are a perfectionist or anal about things and you are trying to keep a sterile tank as much as possible, your progress is going to take longer.

@@CoralEuphoria forgive me I'm not very good with dates and numbers but from the video it looked like you had SPS in there after two or three months? Recommendation I have had from others say don't even try SPS until the tank is a year old. What can I do to start them off sooner?
@CoralEuphoria Жыл бұрын
@Mylifeontour yeah i did have sps in there early but I'm not sure if you are assuming the first footage in this video was right when I started the tank. The first footage was maybe 6 months after I started the tank.

@@CoralEuphoria thank you for clearing that up. Obviously it's not easy to say exactly when one should start with SPS but if you could make any recommendations it would be very much appreciated. @CoralEuphoria3 жыл бұрын
I use reef crest mode in the vortechs. The rocking motion is from the tunze wave box. The weird growth can alsobe from lighting. Things tend to grow more evenly in this T5 tank compared to my point source lighting tank (MH and LEDs)

I swear the first few shots here remind me of a dream I once had. I saw 2 tanks. One was on my kitchen counter, and the other on the other side just beneath on the living room side of what was my old apartment. The larger tank was on the living room side, about the size of what you've got as shown, maybe a little wider. The top was like a 55 or 75 to which I don't see how one could fit a 75 on that counter top. The lower tank had the same colors as the one I saw in the teaser image except it was more dense. From what I remember? It looked as if the entire thing was stag horns-kinda packed. 😢 Knowing what i know now, if I had the room and money I'd love to have a really big freaking tank. I miss my haddanni carpet to which despite my not so great tap water grew like hell. Raw squid? 👍 Bright green with pink or red tips. Last time I had some money but little room so I started a nano. Hard corals. Other than not acclimating the star fish right, everything was OK including my yellow cup coral. The light hood died, job went and so went money for salt for water changes. Everything died. That aside? It was nice! Based on things owed me...😕...I might be able to do it. Ive had this itch for a 200 to 400 gal tank. I'd love to have a certain number of emporer queens in there along with whatever else is compatible. It actual hurts to watch as I loved these things but...life...😕😥
