Yeah, I remember going to my school's Halloween dance 20 years ago, I'd gotten into horror movies, starting with Nightmare 3, about 2 years earlier (I liked stuff like Tremors, Child's Play, and Puppet Master before that, but 2001 is when I first really got into horror. I bought a red and black sweater because it was cheap, even though I knew it was wrong, because it seemed close enough and at a dark dance it wouldn't be noticeable. It sticks out to me because I remember thinking how black was inaccurate.

Actually, the mirror says that objects ARE closer than they appear. The mirror either does it or it doesn't. There is no room for may be. This misconception may be based on the earlier warnings about cigarettes causing cancer.

Davinci actually painted his model for the mona lisa in several paintings. So people might have seen one of those instead of the main one. When Davinci painted the Mona Lisa he used a technique where he would draw her smile curved upward and then he would paint her with a slight frown covering up what he drew. The end results would have some people seeing her frown while others saw her smile. For some people it would depend on the angle. He really was a genius of an artist. Hope that helps.

Da VInci was asked to paint a wealthy man’s wife, Lisa. He used a wooden plank because the canvas was not invented during that time. He painted her one day and had to leave. He painted her over a 15-20 year period. There are more than several layers in that painting. Within the last few years, they took that painting and cleaned it up, as they have to do to keep it from cracking and ruining because over time if something is exposed to air, it will eventually crack and disappear. Anyway, they did X-rays of the painting and they found out that things that looked blurry were not meant to be blurry, like the veil for example. When they retouched it, they used a type of coating and the veil came back to life, and so did the far background.

It's so hard to notice in the first place anyway, Mis-conception rather than a Mandela effect. I've never seen the painting in real life, never looked at it in detail either but I recall thinking it a head band which would actually be the hem of the veil.

The term "Bucket List" has been around for decades. While it WAS popularized by the 2007 movie of the same name, it was in use long before that, though there was no Internet to proliferate the use of the term. I had a short list from my grandpa in '78 that he titled "Bucket list ideas, things to do before kicking the bucket". I don't know where it went, it was in a birthday card, but I remember clearly that it was meant to be a list of neat things to do with the $5 he gave me for my birthday if I put it in savings.

Yeah, I was saying, the guy who made the movie is just confused, I literally had a friend in high school get pissed at me for saying "What's crackalackin?" Because he said his big brother invented it and I can't use it. He then tried to tell me his brother also made up "Dead Men Tell No Tales" and that I wasn't allowed to write it on my pirate drawings. This was a 15 year old boy, 3 years from being an adult. Some people are just stuck on themselves. The movie did make the term way more popular though, I never heard it before the movie came out and people would not shut up about their bucket list (when they're 12 years old lol).

The A Bugs Life 2 one can be explained: At the end of the Toy Story 2 movie during credits, there is a blooper where it shows Flik mentioning to Heimlich that A Bugs Life 2 is being made, then Heimlich explains to him that it is not A Bugs Life 2 but another 2 movie (meaning Toy Story 2), and then it shows Buzz Lightyear punching through the bushes they were sitting on. People probably misremembered this blooper as an actual trailer or announcement for A Bugs Life 2.

I made my money growing up working in my dad's silkscreen business and as I matured and left home I found myself working at a very large screen printing place. Every year in the city had a 5K run, if you run the race you got a shirt there was a print on the front a print on the back and a print on the sleeves. So that's four times better t-shirt had to be loaded onto the board. The promoters of the race ordered 4000 t-shirts that's 16000 times that you have to look at the shirt. I assure you I have seen my share of thousands and thousands and thousands of Fruit of the Loom t-shirts. There was a cornucopia there was a cornucopia... 28 and remember the commercial of the men dressed up as fruit sitting in the large brown cornucopia. I LOVED THE FRUIT OF THE LOOM FRUIT MEN! My boys and I dressed up as the fruit and we have a photo of us in front of a cornucopia my art teacher made. It was because of the commercial when man dressed in the apple is singing and the end he sings “my fruit is of the loom”

Hi, elder here from the dark times before the internet 🙋 The term “bucket list” was a lesser known colloquialism derived from the phrase “kick the bucket” which meant “to die.” It was not as widely known, but I first heard the term from my English teacher in 1997. It was used in a short story that we read, tho I cannot recall the name. The term “kick the bucket” was well known to us because of looney tunes gags from the days of our grandparents, which aired in reruns on our T.V.s at the time. Glad I could help 👍

The thing that trips me up on the mona lisa is in school the teacher would always talk about how her smile was debated because you can NEVER actually tell if she was making an expression, her "smile" if she had one , was so subtle that people in the art community would argue on if she had a hidden expression, looking at it now.. there would be no debate, this would not be a defining attribute, she is smiling or smirking case closed ....

I learned as a kid that the Mona Lisa would smile when you focused on her eyes, but the smile would be gone when you focused on the mouth. I'm 42 and remember playing Mario Bros whenever it was the day before a holiday in school. We would load it up and I always remember the piranha plant on level one because I remember thinking it wasn't on the first pipe but the later ones because to me that was the level progressing in difficulty. The fact there are NONE at all on that first level blows my mind because it was your intro level to the game and it was already established in level two because now you are going through more of those obstacles.

As for the Bugs Life 2 one, I think people could be mistaking it for the blooper at the end of Toy Story 2, where Flick and Hemlich are on the branch, discussing being in a Bugs Life 2. Then when Hemlich says that they’re in a second movie, but not for Bugs Life, Buzz cuts through the branches and they fall off. I don’t know, that’s just the first thing I thought of.

11:40 The DBZ one is so easy to prove for anyone growing up with TV scheduling. Just because the TV guide said a certain show was going to be on at the specific time doesn't mean it actually aired. I would be so excited for a show to come on just to be hit with disappointment when something else was aired. 1:32:28 i went back and watched every Level 1-1 from every Super Mario game, The original game on the NES, Super Mario Land Mario, Super Mario All-Stars are all the only games where Mario is safe, In every other game Mario gets attacked by plants , even the recent movie have the plants attacking Mario from the 1st pipe during the training montage.

Woody just says "There's a snake in my boot", that little "ssst" sound at the end of the word is a combination of the actor overpronouncing the "t" and the sound artist reproducing the staticy sound of those old pull string toys. Jim Hanks, who does a lot of Woody voiceovers in Tom's place, said in an interview that he has needed to overpronounce pull string parts so they would be clear.

Keep in mind... with movies, they sometimes have TV versions that are quite different than the theatrical or home release. Some movies that I've always had on VHS or DVD as a kid... I'd be SO thrown off when seeing the movie on TV because certain scenes were way different. So, you may have seen a different version of any scenes that are in question if you aren't just misremembering. I also kinda have a memory of that scene in Home Alone... but I was never the type to watch it every year nor did I ever buy it, so I likely only saw less than 10 times on TV in my life. So... if you saw a ripped version that was from the TV version then that may explain it. Just a guess.

Yes, that's very true. A movie for a movie theatre can be radically changed for TV, or even VHS or DVD. What seemed amazing in a movie theatre can also fall flat on a much smaller home screen/inferior sound system as well...

Yep, there's a version of The Naked Gun that has extra scenes that I've never been able to find. It has extra scenes added in. I caught it on TV one day and spent ages trying to find it. Eventually I learned that sometimes deleted or extra scenes would get added on to movies to make them longer to fit TV schedules and that was what happened with the version of The Naked Gum I saw. This would explain some other movie Mandela effects, more than likely. Extra scenes, different versions existing, etc.

I think a lot of it especially old mandala effects can be chalked up to lost media. We aren't misremembering anything but most of this happened before everything was online so there is no evidence of it online. Also lots of these companies have been purchased by new companies and even they don't know the history of some items including lost media

Are we talking about side view mirrors on cars? Regular house mirrors? or both? The side view mirrors on cars have those stickers on them mentioning this "objects nearer than they appear" because many of the car makers installed mirrors with a slight convex (?) or curve to them, causing a distortion of actual distance. Like fun house mirrors at carnivals. Also, I've got some really old wardrobes, one of them has a single inset mirror, and it always makes me look quite plump. I've figured out this style of furniture was popular in the 70's, which was the height of the "anorexia" in young people issues (or when it first became well known); and I'm blaming the distorted mirrors on furniture from back then, because I'm downright skinny, for real, and would rather not be. But I look okay in this wardrobe mirror lol. However, someone with self perception issues would take one look, and refuse dinner.

The Mona Lisa was taken down from view temporarily in the Louvre and gently cleaned in 2014. They weren’t able to do a thorough strip of the glazes to get to a spot to where we can see her original colors and details like in a typical restoration because she is deteriorating fairly fast due to the restoration that happened back in the 1800’s. However, she did have a good surface cleaning that would show better details of her veil. They’ve also recently restored one of Da Vinci’s pupil’s copies of The Mona Lisa. It is at all possible people are seeing pictures of the student’s restored copy that wasn’t compromised by the shoddy work in the 1800’s and are not aware of the copy’s existence.

Hey there I was born in the 80s and can confirm "Bucket List" is older than I am. It refers to a list of things to do before you "kick the bucket" another old term. In fact the whole reason the movie is named such is exactly this. It is a term common enough everyone understood what it was. Hope that helps

That's really cool! I've heard the term comes from the saying "kick the bucket" though Sorry if you knew that already but I bet you didn't know the finnish equivalent (nor did you need to but here I am :P) which is "lusikka lista" and translates to "spoon list". It comes from the finnish saying "heittää lusikka nurkkaan", which in turn translates to "throw the spoon in to the corner". No idea where it comes from but the meaning is essentially the same as kicking the bucket. You're welcome :)

Forgetting mundane details from media is completely harmless though, you're not supposed to memorize whether you could hear the "s" at the end of boots when Tom Hanks messed up a Woody line one time, there are more important things to retain in life, that's why we forget petty details, you shouldn't be worried unless you're forgetting your name, and address, and people you love, that's terrifying. This is perfectly normal memory-prioritization. What I think is terrifying is the willingness of people to argue that the universe is against them, has shifted on JUST them, everyone is against them and life is a meaningless simulation, all because they can't accept the fact that they remembered something wrong in a movie they haven't seen since they were 10 but now at 30 it seems different because that happens to ALL of us. That's pretty crazy, that's the kind of thing that develops into dangerous mental issues where people forget reality and attack their own family members, because they think everyone is fake or an alien and won't admit they just made a mistake. My friend's brother is like that, he got so into conspiracies and things "not being real" that he's threatened to off my friend and their mom, for being "fakes messing with my brain telling me my memories aren't real". People need to be able to act like a mature adult and admit when they are wrong instead of going into a mental meltdown because they get offended at being called a normal human who isn't superior to the rest of us.

I recently encountered a Mandela effect from the Resident Evil franchise, I watched a video about cut content it mentioned a plant enemy that resembled the Pokémon Victreebel, when he showed concept art of it I was convinced it was already in one the games. I remember it being in Resident Evil Outbreak 2 in a chapter called “Flashback” I specifically remember them being located in the hospital, they were stationary enemies, there was even 1 you had to kill to progress as it blocked your path. There was only 3 ways to kill it, using acid rounds or flame thrower or if you didn’t have those you had to find pesticide to kill it (I know this was also a thing in RE1) I also remember them being a pain because they had an instant kill attack and as many Outbreak fans know insta kill enemies were the worst because of how easy it was for them to kill one of your AI companions. But I guess that’s no longer a problem cause evidently they never even existed outside of being just concept art?

The Fruit Loop to Froot Loop switch stands out to me because I can remember hearing about how it's actually the correct spelling of "fruit" and not "Froot". I didn't think much of it because I never paid attention to it, I don't really eat cereal, but I did take note of it being "Fruit Loop" not "Froot Loop". I watched a couple of movies recently that deal with this if anyone is interested. I personally remember the cornucopia, even though I am not from the United States but I know it because I'm greek and we learnt the ancient myth at school. I can clearly remember 'explaining' to my father (showing my knowledge to be more realistic) why the Fruit of the Loom logo had a cornucopia. He had two Fruit of the Loom shirts, (one was a T-Shirt and the other was a Long Sleeved one) and I swear BOTH of them had the logo. I had a weird Mandela Effect type occurrence myself when I was a teenager. I went into the kitchen. My mom would make me tea and leave it out for me. There was tea out. I drank it. I put the mug in the sink. I leave the kitchen for a little while. I come back. A different mug is on the table, full of the same tea. I go looking for the mug I put in the sink. It's nowhere to be found. I ask my mom about the tea. She hadn't made any tea aside from what was in the second mug. The Mandela Effect likes duplicating my tea, apparently.

Regarding the FotL logo, I absolutely had underwear as a kid with the cornucopia - however, my grandparents often bought my clothes and they bought them from flea markets that often had fake merchandise. They were extremely poor quality, often not lasting more than a few months. So my theory is that these knock-offs were very widespread and included the cornucopia.

Its definitely had nothing to do with fake or real. Here in my little suburban city in Buckinghamshire, majority of schools had FOTL t-shirts and jumper with the school badge sewn on the chest area. And I very clearly remember the cornucopia on the inside labels as it was underneath where I would either use a fabric pen or iron on my kids names. I was pretty annoyed when I found out that my youngest was FOTL as his school wear was nearly 3 times the price compared to my older son but was only a year difference but different schools too. But were still the same except for the school badge.

I have been targeted for my own mandela effect. In 1971 I joined the army when I turned 17. After training I received orders to go to Okinawa. I was confused by the fact that my orders said that I was going to a supply company there. When I got there I was actually driven to my new company which was the 526th MI det R. Military Intelligence. When I got out of the army I was very proud to tell ppl of this and had my discharge papers to prove I wasn't lying. I showed this proudly to all my children as they grew up as well. 6 in all. My discharge papers had on the very bottom of the page, 526th M.I Det r. Okinawa. A couple years ago I took out my discharge papers and it is different now. At the bottom of the page the unit I was in is gone. Now all it says is Okinawa. I have a few copies of this document and they all have my unit overseas removed. This tells me that the gov. is doing this and that they can target anyone at anytime.

I vividly remember, that as a child in mid 90's I was wondering "what the hell is that weird basket?" In Friut of the Loom. I'm from central Europe, where this brand is quite popular. I can recall myself drawing this logo with a cornucopia about 30 years ago. I found out it's not there a while ago but did not pay any atention. Than I heard of Madela's Effect. Astonishing! I think the Britney Spears one is simply bc the doll had the headset added to make it clear that she is a singer .. and Brit alway wore those in performances at the time as well.. so we all are familiar with the doll.. so therefore our brains probably associate those together naturally! It would be silly to have a headset on in a music video lol if you search her live performances of oops I did it again with a red outfit, one performance sticks out to me with a red top and the classic Britney headet!

The first one with the bucket list is definitely wrong. I've been hearing that saying since I was young. I am 38. And I remember as early as age 7 hearing my grandfather use that phrase in reference to going to Israel being part of his bucket list because he wanted to see The garden of Gethsemane. My father; a Vietnam vet used to often use the phrase as well in reference to things he wanted to do before he died. He died in 1996 so WAY before that movie. And my grandfather used it even before then. Not to mention all of the other times that I heard it in my childhood. It was a pretty common phrase.

I rather think this term was in relatively common usage until some script writer used it to name a movie. That's why everyone would instantly know what the theme of the movie was, before even seeing it. The script writer is taking too much credit, in this case. It's not a "mandela" effect, it's an "ego effect".

This is actually what I can into the comment section for😅. I am also 38 and I remember learning the origins of those phrases when I was in elementary school. 'Kicked the bucket' was another phrase for dying so a 'bucket list' is a list of things you want to do before you kick the bucket!😅 I agree that it seems to be more a case of ego on the directors part. Which makes you wonder about other mandala effects vs propaganda used to persuade or redirect the masses..

It's always been the eggs, and even I remember it being like that. Evidence that points to this (which backups my claim) comes from a Rap song from Boogie Down Productions (KRS One) called: Love's Gonna Get'cha (Material Love) and within their video around the 2:40 mark, KRS One says: "This is your brain on drugs" and points to his mind while the eggs fry, implying that the eggs were the brain and were frying because of the utilization of drugs. I know that it's this too because whenever I listen to his song, and hear the lyrics, (and watched the commercial) it is always the eggs being the brain, not the frying pan itself being a brain.

* Fruit if the Looms definitely had the cornucopia. When I saw the commercial I thought you could eat it and I was determined to taste one to find out if it was good. Then we learned what they were in school. When they removed it, there was talk about it at the time. The actual creator stated he remembered drawing the cornucopia. * Michael Jackson said “Struck by” by on the last refrain. It added a different layer to the song. Alien Ant Farm used struck by more due to the style of the song and repeat the line would not have flowed cohesively. The reason people will remember “Stuck by” over “Hit by” is because when he performed only a portion of the song for things such as; concerts, award shows, and smaller performances, he would use the end of the song to perform. Which is common at those venues because the end of the song tends to have more powerful parts. * The gambling dogs had numerous variations. One had a bulldog with a green visor, another had a Lassie dog (forgot the breed) with the green visor. The visor was white with a transparent green visor. There were so many versions of that paintings like the one with all Dobermans, and one I saw with a human shocked in fear by seeing the dogs. * The Wb frog (Michigan J. Frog) use to have mini ads apart from the actual cartoon. Since he was the mascot he would pop up with snarky ads and show ads that came on before and after various sitcoms. So depending on the show you watched and liked, one of them only played the “Hello my Darlin’” version. I remember that because 1. I have a level 1 (lowest level) eidetic memory, and 2. When I watched the cartoon I would be excited because I loved that episode, however I would start singing the song and I would get it wrong because I was so accustomed to the intermission styled version. Out of all of the nuanced versions, the “Darling” played the most. * Jesus last Super painting did have a chalice near him, in his hand, and on the other side from the further away Jesus. The reason is because the versions people would buy and put on their walls were variations. * Michael Jackson chain was there for some albums. It would be a more rare find. Michael Jackson would release numerous (2-3) versions of things. Just like there was actually a physical owned copy of the cover with the baby Tiger on his knee, then a more cropped version. What would occasionally happen was either he (or his label) would choose one version later as things become more popular. * Morton’s salt girl ~ The image used in the video is a newer image. The previous version was was more crayon looking. The lines and buttons of the dress were blue smudge lines, not the crisp black ones of today. That is the one that looked like a jacket. It wasn’t, but it did look like a dress shaped raincoat. But the latest version looked like they unblurred it because people were getting it wrong. Not really Mandela, just not carefully looking at the container. * The Coraline bad ending did certainly exist. There were two versions of the movie. People who watched the movie numerous times in a short period of time were bothered that the bad ending suddenly was not available. Netflix shortly had the bad ending version, but they let you know that. There is an interview from the creators about the bad ending some where. * Beats by Dre ~ I can personally attest to this because I have a pair from almost every era they had a change. The box does show Dr. Dre. However, the headbands changed. The first ones say Bests by Dr. Dre, the second reads Beats by Dre, my latest pair just says Beats. Also, the way people could tell the difference between the authentic beats and the knock-offs were to look at the headband of the over the head versions. The ones from China would show a Beats by Dre. While the ones they were copying had a Beats by Dre Dre. * Britney Spears had a headset on during her VMA performance. It was one of her biggest performances. That is what was being copied. I’m not certain why no one spoke up about this considering it was one of the moments that showed people she was lip-syncing (as most dancing artists do) and they made it this big thing in her fandom. * Peanuts Great Pumpkin ~ There was never a great pumpkin. That was the big thing about the movie… ever…single…freaking… year 😂. I was so annoyed by that when we were forced to watch that movie. But you go through the movie things you will finally see the great pumpkin and then the big reveal was…Snoopy. That happened to show Linus that there was no a great Pumpkin to fear or be obsessed with. * Home Alone ~ There is a version with the “gives me the creeps.” So, I will put this here, movies and other entertainment sources will release different versions. Because they will have so many takes of the scenes. A long of time ago movies and music needed various version or re-records because of some type of problem or lawsuit. * Logos and images change a lot. It is normal. I don’t know why companies like Fruit of the Loom don’t just admit it, but the creator did and that was enough. But the real reason it was changed was because of the pilgrim and Native American connection. It was offensive to some. The Cornucopia was called “Horn of Plenty” and the company even called it that. My father had one of those VHS tapes and there was a super old commercial where Horn of plenty was mentioned. As a child I use to watch things to memorize them. The Horn a Plenty was weird to me and I called it that once and I was corrected about what that was called. *** The problem with proving really old things is that the proof may not be there. The people who were alive then are not now. The oldest millennials and maybe Gen Y will have seen original things that changed later, but they are the eras of reruns. Millennials were around during the time of cable rerun channels and watching black and white shows for no reason because color was available on all televisions by then. * SpongeBob, yes she had the oxygen pack. There is an episode about it and she is explaining to SpongeBob what the tanks were for. But it wasn’t consistently there. It is a cartoon, most cartoons don’t stay exactly the same. Look at the Simpsons, American Dad, and Family Guy. * Britney’s red skirt ~ Yes she wore one. It was during an awards show once again. I remember this because I literally went out to look for one that was a little longer because I loved the look so much because of her. The video was black and gray plaid… an awards performance was red and black. * Again with logos, they are meant to change. People using something like logos is odd. Especially because a lot of companies had totally different names to start. Then a new name. Then they logos begin changing. Look at Amazon. In the last 2 decades the rule of thumb was to have three versions of your logo. A visually appealing picture-esque image, a toned down version, and a minimalist version that can be remembered and drawn easily. This is done to place things on various media platforms. * Monopoly ~ this one is just funny. Because it has changed so much since the first one, anything is possible. I know his name had changed because I was corrected about his name and I was concurrently asked how did I even know the first one because I was not born he was called that. I think I was, just really young. * A.I. I went to a technology based school in middle school. It was Apple back as it was their side project. We studied AI. We even used the term artificial intelligence and had to asnear questions about it and what it does. The AI of today was definitely around in the 90’s. My major in college was engineering psychology (no renamed) which is teaching psychology to AI and other mediums. I laughed when the picture AI coming out because I couldn’t stop thinking about how people love it now, but they knew not to release it earlier 2000’s because they would say, “Society is not ready for this, they barely want to think or do work now.” That was a common theme. As soon as you heard the term “Android” AI was already around in some form.

I'm 57 years old & always used Duracell for all my equipment & tools, as long as I remember, there was a pink bunny with the Duracell battery at the back. It was part of their ads. No Mandela effect there. I also been a nurse for years, & our kidneys were definitely lower before. & in Alice, there were also propellers hats. I'm also an artist & art lover & the Mona Lisa never smirked, her facial expression was actually written about in thesis, since she had a rather weird look as she didn't smile or smirked, she was more expressionless, thus the mystery around what it meant. Don't remember her ever having a veil too.

I agree with all your points. But, haven't the kidneys always been slightly protected by the lowest part of the back rib cage? Or could reduced lung capacity, lack of exercise, overweight etc. change their positioning? There's a lot of fat usually associated with the kidneys...normally. As a way for the body to protect them...But would more fat than intended for a regularly active human, displace them?

The Mona Lisa veil is easy to explain. I don't know how anyone could be baffled by this. The painting underwent a cleaning. Upon restoration you can often see details that weren't apparent before. This is because there is sometimes centuries of crud covering the fine details. And that veil is so delicate it could have easily blended in with the hairline if you weren't looking very closely.

The Wizard of Oz. I watched this movie a thousand times as a small child. I distinctly remember the socks being blue. When I saw the first DVD copy it was apparent. Again, back then the quality was nowhere near what we're used to today and since the socks were a very light blue, it can be easily misremembered. I can't remember about the Scarecrow with the gun, but I THINK I do remember him having a pistol. The "Now fly. FLY!" is definitely being misremembered. She called Dorothy and ONLY Dorothy "my pretty" in that movie. And I even saw a version on VHS that my grandmother owned from the 80s. That's probably the one I saw the most. Hell, she ended up giving it to me and I wore out the tape LOL! I know for a fact that it was always "Now fly, FLY!" and was always laughing when people got that quote so wrong.

"Fruit of the Loom" logo @ 1:00:15 --- The key is the circle with the capital letter "R". That means "registered trademark". Looking at the graphic containing the cornucopia, that drawing of the basket contains the same drawing size, perspective, ratio, and line weight as the fruit in the drawing. Also, within the frames of the "basket" are hash marks consistent with the line weight of the hashmarks in the pictures of the fruit. The colors of the basket are in the same tone and saturation as the colors used in the fruit. That is the former official registered trademark of the former "Fruit of the Loom" brand when it was owned by ONE COMPANY. Now that "Fruit of the Loom" brand is owned by an umbrella corporation, it means the company "Fruit of the Loom" was sold. The ownership of the cornucopia logo is still owned by either the actual artist of the the logo on the left, r is in current litigation concerning ownership of the brand registered trademark. The NEW company that owns the "Fruit of the Loom" brand, in order to license and market the brand, the go-around was to eliminate the cornucopia basket and re-register the brand. The NEW company can claim "the basket was never in..... (their own version of).. the logo." A similar situation happened with Yosemite National Park back in the early 2000s. The company that had the concessions for the hotels and restaurants within Yosemite National Park, Delaware North, took the time to register the names and trademarks of "The Ahwahnee Hotel" and "Curry Village" for their company licensing of licensed products to sell in the stores. In about the year 1998 1999 I did a temp job for a major university through their marketing department and I helped the person in charge of official trademarks, drawings, drawings and graphics that were licensed to be reproduced online, official graphics for university departments usage for promotional products, I had to help collate a paper printed booklet of all of the official graphic art designs allowed by the university logo and trademark department. This was a very big deal as online and computer graphics became the monster it is today. When Delaware North lost the concession contract for Yosemite National Park, they exited the Park and took their registered trademarks of the names of the Park's hotels and locations with them. The US Park Service officials then had to buy back the names of the Park's hotels and even the official name of scenic and iconic rocks such as "Half Dome". It is possible that during the negotiations of the new company purchasing the "Fruit of the Loom" brand did not pay properly the transfer of the original registered trademark logo. Rather than pay the price, the new company that owns the "Fruit of the Loom" brand removed the cornucopia basket from the official logo for -re-branding and establishing their own narrative. To be a little more specific, the actual artist of the original logo, when registering the trademark logo design, had to specify in the application for the registration of the graphic the actual width of each line in the drawing, the names of the actual color tints in the drawing, the size and ratio of each object within the drawing graphic. That person, the original artist, probably included their own name in the application of the trademark registration, meaning it is possible the original artist or surviving members of the artist's family are still the current owners of the official registered trademark. Rather than fight them for ownership of the drawing with the basket, the new owners of the company removed the basket from the logo drawing, thereby negating the official registered trademark and establishing the new, basket-less graphic as the new "official trademark". Got it? I hope so.
