The day needs to come where Brightline builds a dedicated grade-separated line from Cocoa to Miami. That's the true missing link. The old line can remain for freight, Amtrak, and Tri-Rail in the south. That is the real missing link in this system, and will eliminate the final roadblock to truly make Brightline an alternative to driving to Miami. It would cut at least an hour off the trip.

It would be brilliant to do this but it will cost Billions. The Victorian government in Australia is well underway in doing this through their ‘Level crossing removal project’ . Unfortunately in the USA I could not see this as a possibility for a private company or government to fund and implement. Grade separation could be a requirement for constructing new railway lines but would be cost prohibitive for how Brightline initially created its service from Cocoa to Miami where passenger services are created using pre existing freight railway infrastructure. Brightline West where their constructing a line between LA to Las Vegas looks like that may be nearly all grade separated

True HSR with electric operation would be nice to have, but I believe what really is missing are more stations (like Melbourne, Port St. Lucie or Cocoa) and then additional legs to Jacksonville and Tampa. And a rail service from Orlando Airport to downtown Orlando. What is more, please consider the large number of accidents Brightline has been involved in since. Reason is the high number of grade crossings and that people can trespass easily on tracks on the ground. A true HSR line operating at 160 or even 200 mph had to be built with elevated track for the most part. I doubt Brightline can finance this and there would be thousands of law suits from NIMBY's

do you know if there are any stations that it speeds through at 125 mph?
@GruizuxКүн бұрын
No, as the only section that it goes 125 mph on is between the airport and Cocoa, which is grade-separated and has no stations.

@@timregan1005 Top speeds for: Orlando-Cocoa at 125 mph, Cocoa-West Palm Beach at 110 mph, and West Palm Beach-Miami at 80 mph.

Compare speed of the cars to the train on the first take. Cars should do ca. 80 mph. Train is clearly faster. Maybe train runs at 110ish

@@OldSchool-px1xk Well, measuring from the corner of the fence nearest us, to the bridge support for the off ramp, about 725 feet, the first train is traveling around 110 as you estimated, and the second train is traveling around 116.
