Hello and WELCOME to my Magicka Nightblade PvE Build ESO Guide, updated for the Scribes of Fate DLC!!! The Nightblade has made its return as one of the strongest class options to use in endgame PvE content, pumping some insane damage! This guide will teach you everything that you need to know about playing the class at all levels!

Thank you for the amazing guides tons of info. Im a new player started last week lol so much to absorb. Im looking to play either the nightblade or necro im definitely running darkelf was my favorite race in all elder scroll games. Out of the two classes which would you suggest im kinda torn between the two. This is all from a pve perspective. I would appreciate any advice, thanks again for the info. Subbed and liked.

Thank you for the kind words! Overall, Cro has much more utility in 12 man PVE and does a bit more damage. It’s also quite a bit easier to play imo. However, Blade is one of the most popular classes out there, with a real high mastery curve, and the most utility in 4 man PVE. I personally would go Cro though, maimed one myself for a long time! Hope this helps!

Hi, I am new to nightblade and building up according to your guide. At 15:40 you suggested to use debilitate on front bar and twisting path on back bar to maintain magicka flood passive, but it does not work on back bar as twisting path is not siphoning ability. How which ability should i use on back bar instead, and what to replace? Or should I drop magicka flood overall? Thank you!!

Thanks for pointing this out. It’s likely worth not worrying too much about it evidentially, and it makes sense why: Most of your damage comes from your front bar so as long as you have that buff to your front bar damage you’re in good shape. If you want to source it on the back bar I’d likely do it by running Siphon, or Debilitate Back Bar/Swallow Soul Front Bar.

Nice video thanks, I am trying to copy that exact same build! The thing is, I have some issues managing mana with the relequen set (since it's a medium armor, I loose all the light armor passives). Would you recommend to swap it for a light armor 5 pieces (such as Order's wrath)? I am playing melee tho so maybe that can be dangerous..? I am not sure Thx anyway

Adding in one light piece should make a world of a difference, via the monster set. If you want a light armor alternative though you could go with Whorl of Depths

I found this video cuz i wanted to try a magicka nightblade, but i ended up kinda doing my own haha, mines more focused on the third and first trees, dual blade, restoration staff, and vampire (for more of the blood theme from other abilities, mainly just for fun), and this ended up being a pretty nice self sustain/supporty build that keeps you and your team pretty healthy for the most part

Leviathan is the Medium version of Mothers Sorrow. Pillar of Nirn is great, Kinra is good, and Deadly Steike is great when running jabs

Is this possible to sustain without running medium armor? I'm currently running bahsei armor with pillar jewelry and weapons because i like the light armor passives but I'm having a rough time sustaining the stamina abilities at the moment.

Medium armor is really preferable for that sustain element and for overall damage, but if you want to run light armor, you could try High Elf or switch cloak for scalding rune.

Sustain is very often based on rotation. If you’re overcasting abilities you’ll run out of resources. Feel free to change what you need to in order to sustain a full rotation until you get comfy!

Yeah sustain can get a little tricky, the roto has to be very clean or you’ll mag out. You can try adding a Stam skill or adding Siphon in the mean time

You can do whatever you want. You will get a lot more damage out of Dark Elf or High Elf though.

Why would Path trigger magicka flood? Another thing: how do you sustain magica with 2 physical weapon bars and is there a way to play a magblade effectively with more burst instead of this many dots?

I believe I misspoke on that topic. It does not. These builds are meant to maximize damage in content. When they’re played very well, there should never be a need to heavy attack, and imo, that should be the goal for someone interested in endgame. If that’s not your interest, feel free to slot an inferno with wall on the backbar instead, and you’ll only get slightly less damage. In the scope of a long single target boss fight, there is no way to run a “burst build” effectively in pve. There are fights in the game though that call for a more bursty setup, like vAS for example. Here, you have 12 second phases in which you could do damage, so it’s less worthwhile to run dots, and more worthwhile to buff your front bar damage with skills that buff your spammable, like fighters guild abilities. Hope that helps!

I parse for these videos in the PTS server so I don’t waste my stuff on console. I also do it because PTS server is the worst server to parse on, as they don’t maintain and update it outside of testing scenarios. That add on you’re talking about though is called weave delays. It lets you know how clean a light attack weave was cast to cast. I include this add on so console players can look at and compare clean vs unclean animations in my practices and parses.

Oh man so much has changed. Essentially, Mag/Stam are not limited to skills anymore. All skills scale in damage off of your highest offensive stats, so now you just run the hardest hitting skills and gear, and spec attributes into all Mag or Stam based on which resource you use the most of.

High elf does give a bit more sustain. That said, you can use Siphon if you’re having mag issues and don’t want to change race

lately i have the feeling that magicka nightblades are very squishy. I tend to die a lot in vet dungeons with magicka builds. Do you feel this has enough sustain ?

There are things you can do to increase your survivability if you’d like, but death in eso is rarely a build issue, and much more often an opportunity for mechanical progression. If you’d like to increase your survivability, you can run bi stat food, a shield, and even dark cloak.

Try using harness magicka from the light armor skill tree. It gives you a huge damage shield that also restores your magicka. Or, if you desperately need a HoT, you can go for echoing vigor. My favorite skill right now for bosses is structured entropy from the Mage’s guild skill line. It’s a huge DoT combined with a HoT and it’s helped me defeat many overland bosses. Might not be so forgiving with sustain if you’re spamming too many magicka skills at once, but as long as you’re light attack weaving and doing heavy attacks you should be golden.

Did Magblade have some other setups ? i have done most pve acpects and i m more into pvp but sometimes i help friends to farm in dungeons and raids but i dont need to have BiS , wanna aiming 100k dps for harder content or archievments i will tank anyway i dont like the spec as magblade to wear medium is something like Masterarchitect and Tzogvin usefull or dps wise okay ? Hey there! I wasn’t aware that this is the case I’ll have to look into it further, thanks for pointing it out! Also, it’s an add on called Weave Delays. I do my rotation demonstrations on PC with that Add On to try to give console players the ability to see good/medium/bad weaving and how they line up with the timing and animations that you see on screen. Green means it was good, yellow means the weave was okay, and red means it was slow!

Excellent video and I enjoyed watching it (several times in fact). I wanted to come back to the game but man do I fucking hate weaving. Worst combat in any RPG, let alone MMO, I think I've ever played. Feels like I'm closing my eyes every other beat of a jump rope.

Well lucky for you there’s a great new mythic coming with next patch that gives a ton of pen, crit damage, and 15% damage done but decreases light attack damage by 99%, making them irrelevant. That said though, the blade still needs to light attack for the bow proc

Yup! In between every ability. It’s not as crazy as it sounds once you get the hang of it :)

It's actually light attack, ability, LA, ability, etc. LA comes first as thats the movement you animation cancel.
