Please, please, please provide more content like this! I can never get enough of seeing these magnificant yachts sailing. They are the most gorgeous yachts ever in my opinion. I'd rather watch these racing than the current aircraft in this years AC.

I sailed on a detuned 12 back in 2009 down in the Caribbean. A tourist thing, but the best sailing that I had ever done. We sailed against two other 12’s with tourists too. Great fun, a lot of work. I appreciate the foiling cats and the technology but the old style relates more to my generation.

Thank you Gary Jobson for so eloquently bringing us the story of the 12's.

Great to see these beautiful boats still active. They are really classy and unique. I fell in love with them at a young age but never had a chance to sail on any of them. But I had the great pleasure to sail and race with Gary Jobson, Robbie Doyle, Dennis Conner and Ted Hood and it's been a fantastic experience. Thank you for this great documentary.

Would love to see Stars and Stripes 12m racing in this fleet. Miss the old days when racing was more about close quarters team match racing than just speed.

WELL???? Did they hit? At 9:16 I watched KA-12 come within inches of the transom of the white boat, only to have the footage cut away at EXACTLY the wrong time! Ahhhhhh! Seriously though, This was incredible footage of even more incredible boats. I sailed on DEFENDER (US-33) when I was in high school, back when it was based in the OTHER Newport (Newport Beach, CA). My dad installed the engine into it, and the owner was kind enough to invite us out a few times. It's a handful of sails that, 30 years later, I'll never forget. To this day, my favorite number is 33. Thanks for the awesome content, and it's good to hear Gary Jobson's voice again, too! - Jason

Ok, so at 9:22 it shows the two boats still sailing peacefully. They must've ducked. Ha ha.

There is a scaled down miniature remote control class called the EC-12 as well.

I wish they hadn’t changed the rules for the America’s Cup.Denis Connor & John Bertrand in 1983 was just so entertaining to watch.

I was there for the 1983 races and traded my Cape Dory belt for a Victory one

I am a proud Australian, but I wish that the class didn't leave 12 meter, and I also think it should also return to Rhode Island Sound and preserve the history and significance. Yes we won it, but it took a lot of innovation to do so.

great. When is the 12M again in Europe?

The great shame of the America's Cup today, is that the skill of sail handling is no longer required.

The 12's are still my favorite America's Cup boat. It's funny, these new boats scream over 40 knots but somehow they are not as interesting to watch, at least to me. The AC75's just don't have the elegance of the 12-meters.

Is this anti Foiling propaganda ? AC75 is the Future.

Totally agree.

Is this anti-foiling propaganda? Probably. AC75 is the future for now and perhaps for a decade, then it will be something else. But these old girls, like the 8's and 6's, will be admired and enjoyed for many years to come, be it racing or chartering. And folks occasionally build new ones. Time will tell about the AC75's. Any boat that needs a chase boat or two to follow it everywhere is suspect IMHO.

AC 75s have no crew work, reminds me of watching go cart's give me 15 crew working hard any day
