There has always been homeless people in that area, just worse now The reason it's getting worse, is due to many reasons. 1 some people just don't want help 2 some don't want to work 3 some can't work 4 some want to work but don't have an address 5 some enjoy the freebies 6 some are to proud to accept help 7 some panhandle 8 house is expensive that those that want a home can't afford one. 9 if on drugs the clinics have a difficult time helping. I was one of the lucky ones and got back on my feet. The best thing you can do is make them feel human and wanted. Ask the questions and help them find a solution for themselves if you can. God bless

Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and Human Services has cleanings on the streets of Los Angeles 5 days a week. It's mandatory that you gather your belongings and you have to be moved by 7:00am. They clean up everything left behind, they pressure wash and sanitize the sidewalks and the street sweeper/cleaner trucks does the entire road. If you leave a car behind it's considered abandoned. After all the cleanup then LAPD reopen the street and make sure everyone gets their spot back. This happens throughout Skid Row in the DTLA area every single day. Throughout the Skid Row area people camp in front of a business, they have to be gone by 7:00am and they can't show up until 7:00pm. The LAPD won't allow the homeless to go beyond 3rd Street for the width of Skid Row left and right at San Pedro Street. Little Tokyo and The Art's District are on the other side of 3rd Street which =$$$$$

Lake’s answer to the homeless population was “get treatment, go to jail or get going” homelessness should not be a crime. Not every homeless person is on drugs. Many are vets, many are women and children, many have serious mental health issues. There is a side of homelessness associated with drug use and addiction but throwing ppl in jail when are jails are already overflowing is really a horrible solution unless the homeless person committed a serious crime and goes through legal process. And her part of the plan to “get going” ? I think she wanted to bus homeless ppl into other states and drop them off. See most the homeless ppl migrated here because our climate is more mild. Anyways I know you are going to have some snappy little response that doesn’t even address any of the problems I just mentioned. I really hope you never have to experience homelessness or being on the verge on being homeless. It can happen to anyone. Oh btw God isn’t an American. Jesus was born in the Middle East.

That's what they need to do, it may be slow and tedious but at least it would be permanent SO... just suck it up and go person to person and figure out exactly what each individual needs to get off the street. You can't just pile people into shelter a and call it good..that's really not a healthy nor answer. Some need to to to drug detox and rehab BEFORE anything...some actually have warrants and need to go to jail first..THEN a drug rehab. Some don't need any of that..and just need help finding a job and provide them with a cheap hotel room for a couple months to get a job

If there are going to be homeless people, they should be made to put there trash in the dumpster not on the ground. Make available toilets so people are not doing it on the street . I used to be illegal to go to bathroom in public guess that's changed. I'm not going to say where l live but the city I live in , Arizona is more strict on people just camping where they want. They leave so much trash in there wake, that they are kept moving. Thanks to the city I live in they keep ahead of the people.

You’ll find a good percentage are suffering from mental health issues, some are veterans and others price gouged out of their homes they lived in for 30 plus years. You’re supposed to be journalists. Sadly, nowadays street homeless are drugs addicts, and they are addicted to cocktail of nasty chemicals such as fentanyl, horse tranquilizer, elephant tranquilizer, sedative benzo, rat poison, nitazenes chemicals, P2P based meth, wasp dope, and other nasty stuff. That is in the pills they smoke all the time. They are quickly damaged mentally and physically beyond the point of repair. Police was instructed not to enforce any laws on them unless they spill blood. Police can only ask them not to do something but cannot arrest them. Judges will release them in no time. Street addicts gradually destroy everything around themselves. The only thing they really wanna is to be as close as possible to their fentanyl dealer

@@9RE4TH3RM1T Believe it or not, many flirted with drugs for fun or self medication purposes till they smoked marijuana laced with fentanyl. The tragedy they did not even know it. All street drugs are laced with fentanyl nowadays.
