This felt more like a rant than a review. Heated blankets require another blanket on top to hold in the warmth, that is how to use them. Toss a decent blanket on top of it and let us know how it worked.

True. Meant to warm your area. Not your entire body... Sit or lay on it with another blanket!😂

Best for camping, 50 watts is exactly what ya need …anymore and your power bank is dead in an hour…get some wool for the top.
@LiamMarcon Жыл бұрын
I can't speak for this particular blanket but 50W seems to be the standard for 12v electric blankets and home electric blankets for a single bed are usually around 60W. So it seems you have little experience with electric blankets and decided to rag on this product before even trying it.

I just bought one and I love it. This wasn't even a real test. It was a quick opinion based on just grabbing the blanket with a hand. To me that's not a test. Mines keeping me toasty in a cold room ya its a real keeper and a must have if your into 12v solar. Gets the job done and ya plenty of heat.
@tomnoydb4131 Жыл бұрын
It works great in conjunction with another blanket. Put second blanket over top to trap in heat and you will get nice toasty
@Gleaton012 жыл бұрын
Your macbook isnt hot because it has a cooling system in it snd it uses electricity for many things like a screen bscklight and running a processor. Also your macbook does not regularly pull 50W when the battery is full and you are just browsing the internet. 50W is actually fairly reasonable. It just might take a while to heat up.

I would ask that if you are going to post a review video at least test the product as it is designed to be used.

Hi, we have a weekender camping van, we put those blankets inside our sleeping bag and over our bed set-up. It's keep our bed warm while running road trip. When we pull over for a quick break, wonderfully warm about 2 or 3 hrs depending outside temperature. Then if needed, we switched to our spare battery 12v/140Ahr for all night. My wife very happy with this, she scares gas flames or diesel heater. Good for occasional users.
@kevinwelsh7490 Жыл бұрын
YOUR body puts out about 60 watts of heat, so with this blanket you can be about twice as warm if you have an additional thick blanket. The plaid is just to hold the wires. If you need more heat, run two blankets together.

Apple does a lot of work to make sure your Macbook doesn't get hot because the Macbook exists to compute and display, not to heat. Heat is waste and therefore undesirable. How hot your Macbook gets is irrelevant. A perfect fantasy Macbook would not get hot at all. Every joule of energy would go toward computing, etc. Perfection isn't possible (laws of thermodynamics) but engineers always strive for it of course. In contrast, the electric blanket is literally an intentional heat waster. I think if you put the blanket inside a sleeping bag on a 30 degree night in a tent, you would appreciate it being there.

An electric blanket is only created to produce heat a. Tablet is created to be a tablet not designed to generate only heat. In fact a tablet phone and computer are created to try and produce as little heat as possible etc It is designed to be used in a sleeping bag as a warmth support. 👍

I have watched videos where folks actually use them for sleeping in the cold in a camper with an insulating blanket over the top....and they work great for them when used properly. If you are camping and have a 100 amp hour battery - you could run this blanket for 8 hours....3 days in a row!

I suspect the idea is that your own body heat (even when we feel cold our body still gives off heat) will 'enhance' the low heat output of the blanket; that combined, you'd probably be quite snug!

a 50 watt pure resistive load like in the blanket is going to produce way more heat than the load from from the macbook
@NanoBytesInc Жыл бұрын
50 watts is 50 watts bud. Laptops concert 100% of their power output into heat. Just like a heater
@JacobJonesy Жыл бұрын
That is true for pure resistive loads, the macbook dissipates only about 1/3 of the input power to heat. The rest of the power is used for capacitive and inductive components (LC circuits). Switching inductors and capacitors produce less heat compared to resistive elements under similar electrical conditions because inductors and capacitors are primarily reactive components that store energy temporarily in magnetic and electric fields, respectively, rather than dissipating it as heat.
