Bad tackle by McDermott. One of my favourite players back in the day. That tackle would've resulted in a red card today and the Bryan Robson handball would've been a red too.

I wouldn't say Liverpool were miles ahead of everyone then. They were in transition: half the team gone within 18 months and never threatened to retain the league title that year.

Have to agree. For most of that season we played awful football yet still won League and European Cups. The following season we were twelfth at Christmas but after Ronnie Whelan and Ian Rush were injected into the regular team, the league was won at a canter

Phil H: Was a bad tackle. However when we played City couple of seasons before at Maine Road, Owen, who played for them then was leaving it on everyone. Some bad tackles. I think it was a bit of payback. Good player though, Owen.
