Worth it for the greatness of Barry Davies and that wonderful Fashanu goal. His non-celebration is a thing of beauty.

Was a student at UEA at the time and had a friend down from Liverpool for the match. Though we both came from Stockport, Cheshire, at the time, this was one of the most memorable matches for both us. A different age, a different time, but a very special experience. Have looked out for the Canaries ever since, lovely city, great university...fond memories.

Was tasked with going to Carrie Road to buy the tickets that week, didn’t know the ground, but got some right on the half way line, what a game to attend and ‘that goal’ it graced Match of the Day opening titles for a good while.

I always assumed Justin Fashanu's muted, shy celebration was because it was only a consolation goal - it was actually an equaliser to make it 3-3! Just makes it even greater. RIP.

1:53 the legendary Norwich City tea trolley, just in the far left of picture. How a football never knocked over the boiling water tank, I will never know..... 3:18 the famous Thundersley Invacars quite commonly seen at pitchside. If a player connected with that, God knows what would happen...
@lewis725 жыл бұрын
Haha. I've just remembered that tea trolley. I used to be in the Barclay in the mid-late '80s and you could go to the front of the terrace and flag down a Twix and a brew !

I was at this classic game in the Liverpool section. One of the best games I've seen over the years. I was staying in London at the time and quite a few Redmen travelled up from London that morning. Police were very heavy handed when we arrived in Norwich. Wouldn't let us leave train station to go for a pint. Kept us there from about 11.45am for 2 hours until the bulk of our support arrived and then frogmarched us in convoy to the ground. Mind you , it was the era of soccer hooliganism and pretty normal in those days. Whilst I didn't approve of the hooligan element, there was always an extra " edge" especially at away games. I still go across to games from N. Ireland and love Liverpool. Corporate has killed the game in my opinion. The old terracing days were the best ever!
