Loving the battle reports all around. It inspired me and a buddy to run a campaign for battletech, I ran the Kuritans as the opfor against an invading mercenary company made of the rest of the players, we made a map and everything. Funny story. There was a random town i didnt have a name for, no strategic locations there, it was basically a derpy little crossroads town south of the planetary capital. I said screw it, the name of the town’s Jalope, because I needed a throwaway name for a town that no one would pay attention to. They shoved an entire mech company and steamrolled the tank lance and light mech lance of the garrison forces i had there, phase 1. So I took my command lance and used a dropship to maneuver the lance and a backup lance to encircle them. They blew through the encirclement with their reinforcements, killed my commander, and ran right into Jalope. So I said screw it, and banzai charged an entire mech company in as well. The current fight looks very similar to Mortarborn at this point lmao

Sincerely this! I enjoy many other BT batrep channels, but I don't really watch them anymore because they are framed to be more about the player than the game. Your team does a great job with these battle reports! I'm very invested in the struggle for blue hole at this point. Like many, I'd love a slightly faster cadence to releases, but definitely not at the expense of quality! Great stuff!

Awesome video again and it’ll be interesting to see how this and the grander strategy’s of the war will develop. - also while not a overall grand succession, holding the field at the end of the day is a good thing too, as it means recovery vehicles can get in easier to pick up those downed mechs on both sides. As such, while Korbin took some losses there, it has just gained a few new additional battlemechs to bump up its roster after repairs.

You know I think House Korbyn missed a small trick they could have tried before the battle started. Artillery bombardment. No clue if its something you can do in the campaign. But it have been interesting for the Chupacabras to get a light rain of explosive shells on them. Really looking forward to the next episode. Been learn a bit on the Ottoman's Wars so lately as well so my interest in this series & campaigns is high.

That could actually be something that could be looked into with artillery. Instead of having it used “during” the battle the players could elect to have it used before as a form of pre-bombardment (could roll some dice to see if some of the enemy mechs have took a hit or two during the pre-bombardment) but most importantly it could be a way for them to reduce structures or defensive points allowing for more clear lanes of fire for their attack against the defenders. Alongside this could also have it be a siege option with a constant running barrage from the guns on certain points/defences which like above can be rolled for to see if certain units take some damage over time. It would heavily put pressure on a player to either have to sit in spot and endure the potential barrage each phase/turn knowing some of their units may be absolutely battered or even destroyed before they even see proper on map battle; or having to make these rearwards retreats as they shift backwards each go.

Only a few days ago I finished collecting a full Bat of BattleMechs. Command Lance leading the force, and 3 Companies divided into Battle, Fire support & Cavalry Companies. Next step is to reinforce the existing Companies. Then Reinforce the Battalion with a 4th Company.

Funny sidenote: Any time you have plural mechs, you just end their name with an s. So instead of hatchetmen, it's hatchetmans. It gets silly, riflemans is a favorite.

Its actually a combination of both. Since 6mm and Z are really close, you can get away mixing them. Also, I noticed a lot of terrain vendors use "epic scale", which will also work

Maaaannn... in every after action report I've ever seen that has a hatchetman, never have I seen them actually use their damn hatchets. they never seem to be able to get into range. :( which now I'm wondering if that's possible in alpha strike or not? But I havent' seen them able to use them in the other rule sets either so my point still stands.

Yeah, it is difficult. The hatchetmen have melee ability- but it is hard to get into range. They need to be within 2" of the target. However, most of the time, it is better for the player to shoot than to use their melee ability. The damage for melee capable mechs is their size + 1. The size of a hatchetman is 2 (so it will do 3 melee damage). However, if the hatchetman opens fire at short range, it can do 4 damage. Unless they have weapons damaged, it is ideal for them not to use their hatchets. Which, I agree, is a little disappointing.

@@WargamerStories That is true, however maybe something some players miss is that if engaged in melee the mech cannot be targeted by the mech its fighting. - tho I do know people who house rule it that if a mechs considered engaged in melee it cannot be shot from any line that would draw one through the friendly mech.

Most hatchetman variants are too slow and poorly armored to get into melee sadly. I find the axeman more capable in that sense, unfortunately the way alpha strike’s rules work it does more damage at short range by shooting.
