What kind of line are you using? Can you recommend a line for this set up for a beginner?

So I was looking this reel up because I found one crazy cheap and bought it without knowing a thing except paper specs...if it's half as good as you say I'm super happy, especially for 50 bucks!!

Nice video Rak, I love 13 fishing rod and reels. Well I will when I start fishing this season but I picked up 2 concept Z’s which came with a free fare Blake rod, both 7’1 med, was a special tackle Wharehouse house was running. Also I picked up a 13 fishing Prototype X spinning reel, also came with a free fate Blake rod 7’1 med, I am so excited about getting out there on my new Hobie Compass duo! Do you think I’ll have enough versatility with these 3 rods and reels for bass fishing and trout ? I live in central California. I thought I would dress each up with different line that way I could be pretty rounded having a top water rod, jig rod and a finesse, what do you think, or anyone else have an idea?

Man sounds like you have a GREAT setup. I typically stick to 3 rods. A 7’4 for pitching, a 7’1 for crankbaits or spinners, and a 6’8 for top water or light tackle. I have a 6’6 spinning rod for finesse. I strictly fish for bass or hybrids so I’m not familiar with trout fishing. Thanks for watching and the comment. Super jealous of that hobie!

What kind of line you using. And what pound is it? Also which brands do you recommend?

Hey Man! Thanks for watching! I use the Spiderwire SCUC6IB-125 Ultracast Invisi-Braid with 20lb test. Seems like a lot, but with this rod I am typically pitching into heavily weeded or brush areas. I have Spiderwire on all of my reels and it has proven to me to be the least likely to back lash and when it does it is the easiest to deal with the rat nest. Hope this helps!

Hello I just ordered one of these reels. Could you tell me how yours is holding up. I saw a couple of reviews that said they dont last. Didn't see them until after I ordered. I hope they are wrong. Thanks

Mine is holding up great. Still by far my favorite. My gf snapped the rod so I went up to the 7’6 and love it even more.

The "micro brake" adjustment knob you're referring to is the spool tension.

Hey buddy enjoy your videos. Looking at getting this exact setup. I have several lews and a concept z. My concept z is making a noise like the gears are dry or something on the retrieve. Just wondering if you have experienced this with the inception before I buy. Thank
@raktv1734 жыл бұрын
Daniel Bloodworth Man I have zero complaints from the Inception SZ. I have the high end shimanos and still prefer the 13 Fishing rod and reel. The braking system is just on point. I used it to teach my kids and my girlfriend how to use a bait caster and still haven’t had a birds nest from it. I like the Lew’s too, but they’re a little trickier to get the brakes set right.

When you cast how low with the bait weight can you go? Good review!
@raktv1735 жыл бұрын
Actually I’ve really only used this reel with heavier tackle like jigs and larger cranks for Hybrids. I switch to my Lews baitcasters for smaller tackle. I would guess that with only 6 settings on the internal braking system it isn’t as friendly on light tackle vs the Lew’s that has like 28 settings on the internal braking system. Not sure tho. Thanks for watching!!!

LoL. They have a new combo setup for $99 that I’m interested in. Hope they didn’t risk their quality and technology to get it at a lower price point.

Looks like your reel is missing the hook keeper insert.
