On the morning of April 19, 2020, Greg Muise and Darrell Currie were preparing the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade to help evacuees from Portapique, N.S. Suddenly, shots rang out and bullets sprayed the building, forcing them and others to run for cover. They thought they were going to die at the hands of the gunman. But it was the police who were shooting.
In this episode, we break down what happened, second by second, as we describe what surveillance video captured. We also hear harrowing testimony from the firefighters about what they lived through that day, and from witnesses who saw it unfold. More than 10 months later, the firefighters say they've never gotten an explanation or an apology from the police.

I'm Norwegian. This is almost like a miniature version of our Government bombing and the slaughter of all the kids on vacation at Utoya in so many ways: No police helicopter available, insanely messy communication between the dispatched officers and the leadership, and a perpetrator disguised as a police officer. He was making some of the kids feel safe, because they thought he was there to protect them from the shooter. We had many more victims in Norway, but at least we didn't have a deadly virus to deal with in the middle of everything else at the time. This is the most frustrating and heartbreaking podcast I've ever listened to. Excellently well made!

The terror those guys must have felt in that firehall is abosultely heartbreaking. Being from Nova Scotia this whole scene is horrific, but listening to these podcasts shatters my heart all over again.

The RCMP are not the RCMP of old they don’t serve a purpose anymore it’s time that they’re disbanded because they’re always trying to cover up their mistakes

I’m just having difficulty understanding why Greg & Darell are choosing to remain firefighters? For myself, I know that the beginning of healing would be to not continue to show up at the firehouse and relive the horror over and over again. I’m not victim blaming in any way and I hope that they are able to heal in the only and best way that is the right way for themselves.

Okay last episode I commented about giving the RCMP the benefit of the doubt in the face of a confusing situation. I take all that back. This is unacceptable. Wtf

Trust is beautiful: Betrayal, heartbreaking. At the heart of every traumatic human experience in private or public it becomes an act of betrayal. A jealous vindictive friend, the adulterous husband, or cheating wife, a promiscuous lover, are some of the most hurtful experience in relationships! No matter how strong you think you are betrayal and cheating are desimating... Broken heart crushed soul... That pain can paralyze spouses into a depressive state of bitterness apathy and retribution. The evil you conjure up with your betrayal and partication in your adulterous affairs could end desdly in revenge murder and mayham. Calk it Payback?! Ypur Betrayal parallels Rape. Your Adultry parallels Murder. Adultry is not a victimless crime. Dear selfish me me me...Do you understand the damage you caused to others
