Finally, someone mentiones the L=A setting! I've been using it since gen 3. I'm so used to it, that playing gen 5 sometimes feels jarring to me. Did you know that when the setting is on, there's some things you can't do in SuMo (and maybe XY)? Super important things, like rotating your character to see what the outfit that you're trying on looks like for all angles, or zooming in/out on your character while making a passport photo! Yes! Such important things! They were annoying enough for me to change the setting in those games at least.

same, I love it on the 3DS games, but Sun/Moon kinda removes options if you're playing one-handed... and you're forced to casually stroll and not run around on foot and on Tauros

There actually WAS a game where Golurk became a cannon. In PokéPark Wii 2, there's a part where it brags about being able t fly, but also can turn into a cannon. It shoots at something.

He said it appeared in some of the spin-off games, which would include PokéPark Wii 2. Also a picture of Golurk flying around appears in Scarlet and Violet if you change the League Club room in the Blueberry Academy to the monochrome style.

Huh, a lot of people in the comments seem to hate the L=A thing. I don't get why. I kinda like that option. They had a similar thing in Earthbound on SNES. I loved it cuz I could easily eat a sandwhich while playing 😅.

Crystal version isn't only compatible with the GBC, I played it on the GBA just fine when I was a kid.

what I meant by that was it wasn’t compatible with the original GameBoy. The GBA is backwards compatible so it works with both GB and GBC games

Shiny Pokémon being more common means more incentive to find them. Plus not everyone has the time to shiny hunt.

I could never really get into shiny hunting in the older games myself because of just how difficult it can be. Sure, gen 5 added the shiny charm, but getting it is a pain. I did one true shiny hunt before gen 8, which was SOS hunting for a shiny Dhelmise(it’s my fave ‘mon), and while I did eventually get one it took ages and the dopamine hit of yaaaay special seaweed didn’t really feel as nice considering how the process just wasn’t really fun, especially when the power went out for a few days and subsequently cost me my chain. The fact that I didn’t have the patience to get a shiny charm probably(see; definitely) didn’t do me any favors. Sword was the first game where I did real hunts because not only did the double edged sword(no pun intended) of the dex cut make it easier to unlock the shiny charm, but there were also more hunt methods to use. My first shiny was a Masuda Method Honedge, followed by another Dhelmise the same way. Honedge took only 38 eggs, Dhelmise made up for it by taking over 600… and then I got a second one from a random dynamax raid I joined on a whim. I’ve since decided to be insane by aiming to get a shiny Dhelmise with every method(I got the wild encounter one around two weeks ago!), so now I just have to fish one up. Maybe I’ll try to get one in each part of Galar just for the nice team of 6 shiny Dhelmise, since you can get them in both DLCs too. Point being, I don’t think it’s really fair to act like making them more accessible to more people somehow makes them worth less. It’s not like selling them online was ever going to be viable, considering how easy it was/is to just hack them in. If it’s about the challenge, you don’t HAVE to make use of things like the shiny charm, chaining, outbreaks, or sandwiches in SV to shiny hunt; those are just options for folks who don’t have patience or time to sink days or weeks or months into getting a differently colored sprite/model in a game. Some of these things still take effort to get, after all; it’s not like Gamefreak is suddenly just handing out shinies like candy outside limited events that are usually releasing shiny locked stuff. Or in Meloetta’s case, releasing a shiny locked mythical with the requirement of having a living dex… And Pokémon Go is limited by how much time you have to play, your real life location(“I don’t live within safe walking distance of any gyms or pokéstops” gang rise up), or your willingness to feed the demon known as microtranactions. Shiny hunting has always primarily been about the experience more than just the shiny itself. Maybe you want the road to be long and hard and frustrating to make the reward more cathartic. That doesn’t mean you should get upset when other paths are opened up that are more accessible to other people who don’t want to or can’t spend the same amount of time and energy on something with worth that is ultimately subjective. To me, shinies are like cakes. A cake made at home with homegrown ingredients and a careful eye for construction and decoration isn’t going to be comparable to a cake the neighbor bought at a grocery store, sure. The person with a from-scratch cake might say that their cake had more effort put into it and that just buying a cake is lazy and shows a lack of care or value placed on cakes, while the other person might say that it’s dumb to assume everyone has the time, money, and resources to dedicate to making something that’s ultimately ephemeral and that the faster, less expensive option means you can spend more time and effort on other things that matter. However, at the end of the day, both people wanted cake, and both people got cake, and it’d be kinda silly to make a big stink about each other’s choice of cake acquisition method; complaining about grocery stores selling cakes because it rewards less effort and makes cakes less meaningful as a result is just as dumb as complaining about someone else spending days making their own cake because that was what they wanted to do with their life at the time. At some point you just gotta sit down at the table or stand over the countertop and enjoy your own cake, whether it took 3 days to make or 30 minutes to buy.
