One of my favorite duets of Phil's. On the video there is such a chemistry between he and Bridgette. That side look she gives him at the end is smokin'

Thank you. I have student here in Nicaragua that is an aspiring musician. He has a real knack for the bass. He doesn’t have internet in his home, so he comes to my house, each day, by himself (because we too are practicing self isolation), knocks on my door, I have my computer ready on your daily post. I leave the room a safe enough distance. Then I watch as he is entranced by your wizardry. He quietly gets up, turns and says “gracias”, then goes back home. His life is better because of these posts. My life is better because of your music. You are a rare human soul. Thank you, Jeff

Daryl Stuermer is one of my favorite guitarist! I always feel he never gets the recognition he deserves. Im so glad you mentioned this cause i always felt that way also. Thank you for sharing.. The story's your sharing about the music is priceless. I always felt the Phil Collins Band was compromised of some of the most talented musician's. Im so happy to see Nick Collins carrying on the legacy!

I think the reason Daryl’s playing works so well with Phil and Genesis is because he creates instant atmosphere and that’s such a huge part of Phil’s music

5:24 LMAO! Leland!!! In all seriousness though, I'm loving this series. I'm a frustrated (aka not very good) player of a 6 string twanger, and I'm just in awe at the delicate nuances in your playing which are barely noticeable in the final mix - except now I hear ever single one... Thank you.

Daryl is a master guitarist. I don´t understand why some of the fans of Genesis constantly criticize how Daryl plays the parts after Steve Hackett. Each of them have their own style and approach and both are amazing. And Daryl played some very good bass parts in Genesis concerts too.

I agree, BackLooking. Love Daryl’s performance on the versions of “No Son of Mine” and “Jesus He Knows Me” from *The Shorts.*. I have a copy sitting around here of *The Lings* that I haven’t yet had the guts to spin. Does it come recommended?

Thank you so much, Lee! In these very strange and trying times, I find myself looking forward to your daily videos more and more. As a fellow bassist who has been playing almost as long as you have, I am always amazed at the perfection of the lines that you put to every song, regardless of the artist(s) that you are supporting. Always enough, but never too much - something that a lot of musicians need to learn and practice.

The title “Separate Lives” is almost like a happy-accidental description of what we’re experiencing in 2020. It’s persons like you who’re reminding us about what the human spirit really amounts to. So much of that shows in what you shared with us at the beginning of this video, your dissatisfaction that the first take didn’t even record or upload. It means so much to everyone that you did it again. Even though I am more likely to say that Eric Clapton, Terry Kath, Brian May and Tom Scholz are among my favorite players, I would never deny that Daryl has also impacted me after the number of times I have listened to

What I wonder most is what what is going on in mr. Sklar’s head when playing this. He’s so routined that there will very likely be thoughts. Memories of concerts where this had a special meaning. Or flashbacks of silly or sad things that happened, etc. Stuff we cannot imagine or think of and will never know about because we didn’t experience it on stage and on tour like he did. Also; It must have felt totally normal to the band to for example be on stage in Berlin 1990. Just doing their (extremely professional!) job. But now, many years later there must be some kind of awareness that they as a band set the benchmark for many others. And that it was a great time to be alive and touring in. The audience listening and paying attention instead of messing around with their phones, etc. Pop musicians with a resume like mr. Sklar will very likely look back on the 90’s and be thankful they were there doing it at the time. And if they don’t then at least I am, and I am sure that many, many other are with me. Thank you mr. Sklar. You have inspired this classical trumpet player to pick up the bass.

Lee, thank you so much for these videos. we watch them in the evening and they provide 15 minutes of escapism for the harsh reality of life at the moment. Your rendition of separate lives is beautiful, soulful and effortless. i went to the Dingwall website to check out the LS signature bass, what a gorgeous thing. I thought, wow that has the look of a chopped 32 ford coup...and lo and behold Mr Sklar is also a car guy..!! Superb musician, nice guy and a hot rodder.....Mr Sklar need to be protected for future generations..! So from the UK, to one of the greatest bass players (and without question the greatest beard..) stay safe Lee and carry on doing what you're doing. it does make a difference to peoples lives at the moment.
